  1. Keep it up, you are doing awesome. I often find myself replying the same way when people try to compliment me on my weight loss! I feel like I need to justify why I still have more to lose - or why I'm still overweight - I'm working on it!! It is waaay harder to just say Thank You!! I do still have a long way to go - and worry that now that I have hit the 6 month post surgery mark - AND have had other health issues that are going to limit my ability to work out - my weight loss is going to drastically slow down, but if it does, I will deal with it - I will take one day at a time and celebrate my success as it comes!
  2. I am looking for a protein bar that has 10 carbs or less per serving, but am not having much luck. Has anyone found any decent tasting protein bars with low carbs???

    Started the process this morning!

I can relate - I have thought about surgery for YEARS - but always found more reasons to not have surgery than to have surgery - until I turned 50 and somehow I started to look at things differently. I started my process last year and had my surgery on Dec 26, 2018! I still have a looong way to go, but I am so very happy that I did it!! Good luck to you!!

    Lost 75 pounds!!

Woo Hoo!! Congratulations! Keep it up!
  6. I am also bone on bone in both knees. 😣 A huge part of my deciding to have sleeve surgery was because I have been told that I need knee replacement, but they won't even talk about knee replacement surgery until I get my BMI down. I can tell a difference in the level of pain already, and hope that I continue to have improvement as I lose weight! Good Luck with your surgery!
  7. Can I just say that I absolutely LOVE this forum - I have had a few bouts of constipation since surgery 5 weeks ago (actually now that I think about it, I had one bout right after starting on the liquid diet pre surgery also!) But today was by far the very worst yet!! I did 1/2 a dose of Miralax this morning, and suffered thru the LONGEST day of work ever but finally had some relief when I got home! After reading this post, I picked up some stool softener after work and took that and another 1/2 dose of Miralax. I am hopeful that by tomorrow morning, I will have even more relief - thank you for sharing - I am always able to find the info I need when I need it!

    Arthritis pain, bad knees

I totally feel your pain!! One of my biggest reasons for having my gastric sleeve surgery was because I need 2 knee replacements and my doctor wouldn't even talk about surgery due to my BMI. I have been taking Celebrex, but even with that my knee pain was constant and so severe that it was negatively affecting every part of my life. I had to stop taking Celebrex 3 weeks before surgery and my surgeon does not want me to go back on. I have been taking Tramadol and that seems to be offering some relief. I had my surgery on Dec 26, 2018 - I am down almost 50 lbs and although I still have knee pain, I have been able to steadily increase my steps since surgery.

    Awkward at Work

I was pretty open with the people in my department - but not so much with coworkers from other parts of the office. I am very lucky that I have such a fantastic support system and much of that support is at work. There were a few people whose initial response when they found out was very negative!! Not sure why some people's reaction is to talk about someone who had weight loss surgery and had some type of problem!! Just keep in mind that you are in control, it is TOTALLY up to you whether you tell people anything at all!!
  10. I was on liquid for 2 weeks after surgery - in addition to the premier protein shakes, I did Low fat Cream of Mushroom soup (strained) and sugar free Jello and pudding and low fat Greek yogurt! I have moved on to pureed now and have been doing a lot of pureed soup, mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs.

    One Month Breakdown

I am only 2 weeks Post-op, but over the last few days the reality of the long reaching effects of having this surgery have become more and more clear to me. This is both super exciting and very scary - all at the same time!! I am excited to think about all of the positive changes that I will be making over the next few months, but I am also nervous as I begin to realize that there is no going back - I too have lost the comforts offered by my "comfort foods" - I will have to find other ways to deal - I can only move forward!! But every time I start feeling a little overwhelmed, I remind myself to focus on the positive changes - being able to be more active, without worrying about my knees not being able to keep up, traveling without the anxiety over crowding the poor person in the seat next to me, knowing that I am doing everything I can to be the healthiest, happiest version of me!! I can do this - I WILL do this!!
  12. Hello, I also had my sleeve surgery on December 26, 2018! Glad to see others from this day out here as well!! The first few days were a little rough, but after than felt better. (Other than an allergic reaction to the adhesive they used on my sutures - very itchy!!!) I have been able to tolerate the Premier Shakes as well, and doing the strained cream soups - I am looking forward to moving onto the pureed stage next - but am to chicken to push it until they tell me I can!
  13. I agree, I have seen/heard many different versions of the plan! I am looking very forward to the 9th as that is my follow-up with my MD and when I (hopefully) get to graduate from Liquids to Pureed food for two weeks and then on to Mechanical Soft for 2 weeks before I can slowly start introducing solids! Just trying to be patient and stay positive!
