  1. I am only 7 days from my surgery date and so excited I can't stand it. My surgeon has me on a liquid diet but the first week you are allowed to have 1 (small sensible meal) and 2 protein drinks. Well that was hard, because the surgeon's idea of sensible and mine probably were in conflict. So today was my last day with any meals and I am glad. NOW I know I can't have a meal for the next 7 days and it really makes it easier to follow this diet.

I weighed last night and did my measurements and I am so happy! I have lost 12 lbs in 6 days and 5 inches so far! This is too fun! LOL:wink:

    Help! Wife is miserable

I had gallbladder surgery about 10 years ago and felt the same way. I think it is fairly normal to feel that way. Your body has been through alot and needs to mend and it throughs your emotions out of whack. Make sure she is getting up and doing some walking, do you walk with her? That might help if you are along for her journey. Try to get her involved in a fav. activity or hobby that she can do now. Get her mind off of it! And Pray for her healing! I will be!
  7. Thanks for the recipe. I actually found some by doing a search for bariactric recipes also. Still looking for more. Just want to have some viable options once I can start on real food again! I don't want to get to the boredome stage and then do something stupid! LOL Thanks again!
  8. I won't miss a lot of things! Like..... *Wanting to go somewhere with friends but deciding to stay home because you don't want to be seen in public. *Avoiding any kind of sporting activity that doesn't have bleacher seating. *Excitedly looking at pictures from an event and coming across one of myself that is just grotesque! * And all of the other things everyone else stated as well!

    Who's getting banded in June

Hey, thanks for the encouragement. I have 2 co-workers (1 has been approved and one is going through the process) so I will have some good encouragement as we go to the breakroom and have our jello together! LOL I have done a liquid type thing before and by the third day it was a cake walk.... no more issues... My daughter and grandaughters live with me right now as her husband is in Iraq and she is being so supportive. Plans on having the girls fed before I get home at night from work, keeping all their snack stuff up and out of my vision and I have a whole list for this weekend of projects I want to accomplish so I can stay busy! I think proper planning will help more than anything and not sitting in front of the tv! Have a great day!

    Who's getting banded in June

I am having my surgery date on June 18th now instead of the 20th. He modified the way I am to do my liquid diet so I can go in earlier. He is taking vacation towards the end of the month and wants to get us all in for our post-op 1 week apt before he leaves. So that rocks! I started my liquid diet today and so far not too bad! The protein stuff I got is actually decent in the taste area which surprised me. I am just so pumped right now I can't concentrate here at work! But I need to get my head back in the workplace. Have a great day everyone!~
  11. Does anyone else have what I call the "Last Supper Syndrome"???? I was approved on May 12th and sugery is on June 20th, but ever since I got the good news of approval I have had the need to eat, everything! I don't know if it is because I know if a few weeks that will be cut off from me and I am having my last big Binge. I have chatted with another who has had the same situation..... Any ideas to help get the "Last Supper Syndrome" to be a thing of the past? Thanks! Ronda

    "Last Supper Syndrome"

I had lost 35 lbs previously on phentermine while doing the lap band process via my surgeon, and I can tell I have probably put 10 of those pounds back on. I did buy new running shoes today (not that they will see the pavement going that fast!) more like walking. I had a talk with them and told them to make sure I am consistent with the walking exercise! My sister called today and is giving me her old treadmill!!! I am just going to have to buckle down and quit thinking about what I won't be able to have once I am banded but what new things I will be able to do once the surgery is over! I have to talk to my self once in a while! LOL:rolleyes:

    Christian bandsters

Hi everyone! I have been looking around the website and found your group... I love it. I have been looking for the Christian support. The ladies at my church are being somewhat supportive for skinny ladies... LOL They just don't understand what a heavier person deals with when they haven't had any of the issues. But they are there for me, but having a group like this on this website is awesome. I was approved through my insurance about 1 1/2 weeks ago and have my appt with the surgeon on June 5th to set my date. Looks like it might be around June 20th. I am really hoping that is the way it works out. I thought this was going to be a horrible process with what the insurance company was requesting as well as what the surgeons office has us go through, but I believe because I took all this to the Lord that everything went so easily. I went to the first seminar in March of 08 and was approved in mid May... so that was really quick. It helped that I had already started a physician led diet prior to all this. (that is what my insurance requested)... Now a co-worker I have just found out she is approved as well, so I will have a lap band buddie!!! I am glad I found this group and will be visiting you all daily! In Him, Ronda

    Congrats Kathy!!!!
  17. rondawood63

    Hi!

Welcome! I am just getting ready to go to my final appt with the surgeon before all my pre-op testing. I found the best source for me was to find others who are about a year out from their surgery and talk with them. Our surgeons office hosted a panel of 6 lapband and 3 gastric bypass clients for us to talk to during our lifestyle changes seminar and they were a wealth of information. So go bend the ear of a veteran! Good luck in the process....

    Starting over

I can completely understand! When I was growing up (MY mom was a good cook) and she made sure we had a complete meal on the table. But if we didn't clean our plates, my dad would say, "there are kids straving in Ethopia, you need to eat your dinner". I would retort back and say, well box it up and send it to them.. OF course, I kinda would get in trouble for that remark! Anyway, I learned to clean my plate and have ever since and now I am my BBW self with self esteem issues and all that goes with that. I have decided to turn it all around now for ME! Having surgery the end of June and can't wait!!! Just hang in there and maybe keep slimfast or something like that at your mom's so when you go over, you can grab that and she will feel like she maybe has fulfilled her MOM duty.... Good luck!

    Lap-Band Surgery..Who Me?????

I guess I am the opposite or just a big mouth! LOL I told some of those I work with, and some of my family and my friends from church. I guess I told the ones who I knew would be supportive and left the ones out who wouldn't be so much. I just couldn't contain myself and I had to tell someone. So far I have only had one who seems not so happy and that is my mother... You would have to know the history there. Basically, she has always been in competition with me on lots of things and weight being one of them. She has recently lost like 50 lbs on the Biata injection for diabetics. And I believe she is afraid I will loose more than her. Kinda sick in my mind, but who am I to judge... LOL I don't have a significant other in my life or I would have been more apt not to tell everyone else, but feel to be successful I needed support of family and friends around me at this time! Welcome to the site!
  20. Basically, I involved a select few at first when I was going through the process and then I found out 2 others in my office were doing the same thing. So we all kind of opened up about it. Then when I got the call last week that I was approved, EVERYONE knew what was going on. I was so pumped! I did feel bad for one girl though. She applied for the lapband through our insurance and was turned down because her BMI was too low. But she has hereditary HIGH Cholesterol that even medication is having issues in lowering and I think that right there should have been factored in. She was told she needed to gain 30lbs. to even qualify. So she wasn't willing to do that. I felt alittle awkward in telling her my news but she heard me on the phone and came over and congratulated me and then said, she hated me! I knew she was joking though. I would suggest telling your co-workers or at least the ones you are closest too, mine have really been supportive, asking questions and everything. You go girl!

    Who's getting banded in June

I have my pre-op appt on June 5th with Dr. Edwards, St. John's Hospital in Springfield, MO and then was told my surgery will be either June 20th or June 27th! I am so excited to get this part over with and get on with my new life and the exciting changes I will be going through. Dr. Edwards staff are remarkable people and have made this long process a walk in the park for me!

    I have been approved!!!!

I found out late yesterday afternoon that I am approved through my insurance. I am so excited. I got a call this a.m. from surgeon's office and have an appt with him on June 5th (1- to pay up! LOL 2-To set surgery date) and then go to pre-admission for all that stuff as well. I did ask for a Friday surgery date so I can come back to work on Monday. The reason I asked not to meet with the surgeon until the first of June is my son-in-law is coming home from Iraq tomorrow and I don't want to deal with the liquid diet and all that while he is here. Just enjoy the time with him and my daughter and the girls. I can't wait to see how the girls go to him, he has been gone for 7 months now and they have changed so much in his absence. Well, just wanted to let everyone know I am approved... wooo hoooooooooooooooooo!
