  1. Im having the same issue I stalled or about 3 weeks then it broke out of the nowhere, I lost a few more pounds and now I'm stalling again. I havent cheated I was eating around 500 -600 cals, and have been walking. Im going to be increasing my cal intake and I think I need to exercise more. Why do you think you have stalled? I dont think its the amount your eating... 800 cals is good! I heard the honeymoon phase is a year so dont panick yet! Theres still plenty of time. But we do need to maximize all the time we have ...
  2. Hi Deedee! I'm glad to hear you are doing good and staying positive. I just met with my nutritionist yesterday. Ive been getting 500 - 600 calories a day and I was told I should be hitting 1,000 now (seems like a lot). As far as stalls go, she told me the same thing.... that this weight isnt going to just melt off and that hitting plateaus are part of the process. You're doing everything right and it sounds like you're extremely dedicated! The weight will come off eventually. Enjoy the ride, even though its a bumpy one. That's what I'm trying to do. Easier said than done though lol

Last nights dinner, a cilantro base chicken stew. It tastes better than it looks! I was able to eat one whole chicken thigh with a bit of the sauce. Threw in the potatoes for my bf. He ate this with rice.

I can most certainly relate! Food doesn't interest me as much as it did and I'm thankful for that. I've adopted good habits and I know its only up from here ... or shall I say "down" lol

Went out to eat with the family yesterday. Ordered the fish Ceviche. Ate a little over 1/2 cup and a bite of the sweet potato. My brother also gave me a little piece of his roasted chicken to try.... I was stuffed. Its back to cooking today!

    Food Before and After Photos

Last nights dinner I made for my bf. Stir fry rice noodles with beef, Chinese broccoli, and eggs. The sauce for the noodles came out great! I ended up picking out the meat, veggies, and egg. It was my first time trying beef and I digested it very well. I was so tempted to eat the noodles lol.
  13. Almost 2 months post op : Daily Water intake D = This have been a main focus of mine recently. I've been getting about 32 oz of water in but these past few days I've increased it to 50 oz. Its still not good enough though. I'm not sure why I'm struggling with it. I'm just not that thirsty. Before surgery, all I drank was water and it was well over 100 oz. Maybe because I was eating so damn much? lol Daily Protein intake B+ = Since I've started eating food this has not been a problem. When I feel I'm getting full, I make sure I finish the protein first before anything else on my plate. There are days though where i come up a bit short but its rare. Food choice A+ = I never had a huge problem with this before surgery. I don't like junk/fried foods, never ate anything really processed (frozen and canned foods make me sick and gross me out) I'm not a sweets person (rejecting cake, pastries etc. was/is easy .... except pumpkin pie.... I'll never reject pumpkin pie lol), and I never drank my calories (not crazy for soda, stayed away from sugary/store bought drinks). My problem was overeating as well as eating lots and lots of meat and carbs like rice, pasta and potatoes. My food would consist of a mountain of white rice, like 5 pieces of chicken or some other kind of meat, and tons potatoes with a salad. If I ate out, for example at a Mexican restaurant, Id eat like 8 tacos and a large bowl of Pozole soup. Since surgery I've been doing good. I'm physically forced to eat less and since I'm not allowed rice, pasta, and etc,. its easy to ignore. I've been eating lean protein these days. Portion Control B+ = I'm still early in my journey so I cant fit much in. I don't give myself an A because I feel like I'm not eating enough. This morning for breakfast I had 3 boiled quail eggs and I was stuffed. Mindful eating A = This surgery has given me a lot of new habits. One of these habits happen to be planning my meals ahead so that I always bring breakfast & lunch to work as well as planning my protein out. I've also gotten addicted to tracking every meal. I'm macro obsessed now. Exercise F = I don't get much physical activity in since I'm sitting in front of a computer all day at work. I also hate exercising and I'm too self conscious to go to the gym. I need to work on this ASAP. The only exercise I get is walking around the house, stores, and playing Just Dance on the Nintendo Switch. A treadmill is on my Christmas list. Vitamins B = I've been good with this but sometimes I forget. My phone reminders have been helpful. Self image C = I still hate looking at myself in the mirror and avoid pictures even though I feel a difference in my clothes. Hopefully this gets better as the weight comes off. Mental Health A = I'm doing better than ever! I actually feel hopeful, motivated and determined. I'm proud of myself for deciding to do something about my weight and actually taking action. Relationships B = As far as friends and extended family no one knows so all's the same with them. My relationship with my boyfriend has improved though. We are doing more as a couple because I actually want to go out now instead of hiding in the house. My younger siblings are excited about my journey and have been pushing me everyday. Self care C+ = Im starting to care about what I look like when I go out. There's room for improvement though.

    Post-op aversion to protein drinks?

I had the same problem as you after surgery. Actually, I'm almost 2 months post op and I still cant tolerate them. I've tried so many from powders to water base shakes and premade ones like premiere and muscle milk but they all make me nauseous. Even drinks with artificial sweeteners... I wasn't able to get down any shakes/protein during my liquid stage. I was living off water and homemade passion fruit juice. The last time I had a shake was before surgery. My doctor told me that sometimes these kinds of things happen and we just gotta let time go by so that I could move on to the next stage and get my protein in from food. She said the most important thing was to not get dehydrated. Not saying to do what I did because you're going to feel weak without protein but just give it time. Things will get better. Who knows, maybe you'll have better luck than me finding a shake.

    Recipes??

Hi! I've been eating some of the same stuff too and have been trying to switch it up. As of now my nutritionist told me to stick with dishes that have sauce so that any protein I consume goes down easier. Here are a few dishes I've been making: Estofado de Pollo (Chicken Stew): I've been making a Peruvian version of chicken stew. I add potatoes when I make it for my family but you can make it without if you're watching the carbs. I just eat the chicken even though it tastes best with rice. Ive been making it with skinless chicken thighs or breast. Ceviche Peruano: This is my quick go to! Its just raw cod fish with lime juice (the lime juice "cooks" the cod), a few seasonings, and red onions. Its a super refreshing dish. Im sure you could try the mexican version too. Pollo al Sillao (Soy Sauce Chicken): Same as the stew I just eat the chicken but I always use skinless chicken thigh for this one instead of breast. The dish contains scallions, bell peppers, soy sauce, ginger and some seasonings. Its really easy to make. Seco: Not sure how to translate the name in English but this is pretty much a stew lol. Don't be alarmed by the green color, the base of the stew is made of cilantro that's been liquefied in the blender. Its best made with beef or lamb but I've been making it with chicken. I usually eat it with navy beans like in the picture. Lomo Saltado de Pollo: This is basically a chicken stir fry with onions and tomatoes. Its another one of my quick go to's. Very juicy and delicious. The original is made with fries mixed in but I do it without since I'm also watching carbs and staying away from fried foods. Here are a few other dishes that I want to try once I'm cleared to eat raw veggies: Taco Salad Greek Salad with grilled chicken Ground chicken lettuce wraps. If you want the recipe to any of those dishes let me know and Ill post it You can find all the ingredients to them at any supermarket.

What kind of protein supplements do you take?
  20. Congrats guys! I'm glad everyone is doing so good with their weight loss! I finally broke my stall and lost about 2 pounds.... thank god because it was going on for a little over 3 weeks. I'm hoping I can start working out soon :) Im not even close to hitting my goal weight yet but I already feel so good. My clothes are a little looser, I'm more positive, and I just feel good about myself.

    August 2019 Check In

Hi August friends! I was sleeved 8/5 and have been doing so much better! Been getting down liquids with no problems and eating good too. As of today I've lost 45 lbs. The only thing is, I've hit an almost 3 week stall. I cant seem to lose weight no matter what I do. How many calories is everyone eating? I track all my meals and at first I was eating around 900 - 1000 calories a day with 80 -90 grams of protein but since i hit a stall I cut my intake to about 600 calories a day. I've been eating very clean, sticking to tuna, chicken breast, skim milk, and haven't cheated or had anything I'm not suppose to. Even with the decrease in calories I'm still not losing weight. I know this is part of the journey and my body is probably in shock mode because i lost so much weight so fast but its just frustrating. Lol anyways, I hope everyone is doing great, especially mentally. Its crazy how much this surgery changes things. I use to think about food all the time and feel hungry 24/7 and now it doesn't consume my life. Its just nutrition I need to live. My self care has definitely improved because of this!
  23. Oh yea i was! I had a rough recovery so Im glad this is starting to work out fine. Hope there are no side effects with your medication either! Good luck
  24. When I got home from work yesterday i gave my vitamin another shot. This time I didn't have it on an empty stomach. I ate some sauteed chicken and waited about 10 minutes then took the vitamin. I'm happy to say I didn't not get nauseous or throw up! Progress
  25. Ooo that dressing recipe sounds delicious, Ill be trying that soon. I have all the ingredients at home already. As far as a vinaigrette goes, my quick go to is some red cooking wine with a little bit of olive oil, a tiny splash of white vinegar, salt, pepper, and cumin. Stir it all up and all done.
