  1. Would you do it again-No! I was banded on May 23rd and have nothing but problems since it was done. I thought I really wanted this band but after complications, I'm not sure that I did. My dr. had me take Plavix up to my surgery date so not to have problems with my heart. The surgery went fine and proceeded to go downhill. I was planning on returning to work on May 27th and instead found myself being admitted to the hospital with anemia and dehydration. I developed bleeding under the skin and through one of my incisions. I called them but didn't explain myself well enough and I'm an RN. I truly thought my bruising was normal. I had a blood transfusion and lots of IV's. They drew blood off my port site. I am so depressed and weak. I cry at the drop of a hat. I couldnt even get out of bed without help the first 2 days and I thought I was being a whimp. My bruising will probably there for a couple of months and the dr. stated he want be able to do a fill until it is completely clear. I know it could have been worse and I am thankful to God that it wasn't. I just was not prepared for this. My surgeon's office assures me that I will not regret this in 6 months. Thanks for letting me talk.

    New from KY

I have not heard anything negative about Dr. Oldham. I never got to meet him. By your name, I would guess you are a nurse. I also am a nurse, small world.

    New from KY

Hi! I am from Maysville KY and was banded in Lexington KY on May 23rd by Dr. Weiss. I was seen in the Georgetown office, however, I had my surgery at Central Baptist. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me and I will try to help you.

    Would you do it again?

Baabs, I don't think you should wait until your dr's. appt. I think you should give your dr. a call to make sure everything is OK. It is better to be safe than sorry. I had all my problems after my surgery when I was home. I thought I was being whiny and in fact I needed to be seen. Thank goodness, my office saw me and tended to my problems. Good Luck! Let me know what happens. awebs
  5. I was banded 5/23/08 and I was wondering when can you start eating salads. I am eating very small amounts of mashed potatoes and a few bites of beans. I am scared to try baked fish, tuna, or any meats. I had some trouble with my band post-op and I know I am not eating nearly enough. I've already been in the hospital once for IV's and really don't want to go again. I don't measure my foods, I just take a couple of spoonfuls.
  6. I was banded May 23rd and have felt so many different emotions since the surgery. I never imagined that recovery would be slower than I thought. I was to return back to work today, I ended up taking today and tomorrow off. I miss eating, however, I think I would do about anything to have a few sips of Pepsi right now. I had only given pop up for about 2 weeks prior to surgery. I know it sounds stupid that I could cry for a pop. Thanks for listening. Angie

    Bruising

I got banded on the 23rd and I am bruised all over my abdomen. I was also on Plavix and aspirin prior to surgery date. Glad I am not alone.
  8. Redrobin, I got banded on 5/23 and have not felt that great either. I thought that I would be back to normal in 3 days, I am not even close. I know I'm not drinking or eating enough and I am still extremely sore, not to mentioned bruised thoughout my abdomen. I thought I was just being wimpy.

    Scheduled for May? What Day?

I am scheduled for May 23rd in Ky!
  10. Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and have my Lap-Band scheduled for May 23rd. I've been looking forward to this since last fall when I was first seen. I got sidetracked when I couldn't pass the cardiology consult and ended up having a cardiac cath with a stent placed. I found out around 2 weeks ago that my insurance (Humana) approved my procedure, had a pre-op last week with my surgery being scheduled for this Friday. It's all happened so fast, which I am not complaining, I just can't believe it is going to happen. I will be having the surgery at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington Ky with Dr. Weiss. I look forward to any words of wisdom that anyone would like to share.
  11. My husband has insurance from the state. The 6 months was required by my insurance. Dr. Weiss wants you to go on a high protein diet 2 weeks before surgery. He seemed very nice and both drs. have a great reputation.
