Craziest Things People Have Said Coming From Under General Anesthesia...
DonnaB replied to kabeerah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh my gosh! I don't remember ANYTHING until being wheeled into recovery and asking for a pillow under my knees so my back would have some support. How boring is that? I guess it's better than thinking "I'm burning! I'm burning!" but still, pretty boring. You know what? I just BET I was a laugh riot BEFORE they wheeled me into recovery. I just don't remember it! LOL :notagree Funny stories y'all. -
I thought I heard that no one was doing the balloon anymore. Good luck to you.

When I was little I thought my parent were Wilma and Fred Flintstone. My mom was tall with thin legs and red hair that she swept back in waves from her face. My dad was shaped like Fred Flintstone, had a perpetual five o'clock shadow and was always tinkering on the car. What else was I to think? lol After I was an adult I saw a picture of my dad - I couldn't have been more than a couple of years old when the picture was taken - at a costume party wearing a fur pelt (two or three more likely!) around his body and over his shoulder! Maybe I saw this picture when I was little and that's where the idea came from. When I asked my mom about the picture I was just sure she was going to tell me she went as Wilma Flintstone, but alas, she was a greek godess or something and my dad had gone as a no-name caveman but we had a good laugh over my parents: Wilma and Fred Flintstone. I guess that makes me Pebbles, huh?

Isopure is elixer from Satan's bottom! I can gag down the tropical fruit - or is that the applemelon? the red one(!) - and the orange one but my mouth tastes like the cat used it for a catbox afterward - even if I brush my teeth and tongue. Yuck. The only thing it has going for it is the high Protein, low carb aspect. You think if I used the Isopure to mix my Protein Powder I could get twice the protein while having to gag down only HALF the volume? Might be worth it to get rid of the Isopure AND the powder! LOL I tried a pre-mixed Protein Drink today called Muscle Milk (there is no lactose in the product) which has 37 grams of protein in a 17 oz. serving. I tried the chocolate Milk version which is way too chocolate tasting for me and has a hint of something like coconut (?). I mixed it with skim milk (gotta be Braum's baby) and it wasn't too bad. I little sweet. I think I'll try it again and mix in a little low-carb Peanut Butter. Although it wasn't jump-for-joy great, it certainly tasted better than anything else I've tried so far. Or maybe it's just something different and I'll start gagging on it as soon as I buy more than 3 at the same time - you know after you've invested enough that you feel obligated to consume it. Blech. I got it at GNC in case anyone wants to try it and chime in.

Hi y'all! I was banded a week ago today and man oh man do I feel your pain. Or rather, DID I feel your pain. After the band you won't feel hungry, at least not so hungry that your soup and protein diet won't keep you feeling full. Watch out for the headache tomorrow. Keep some Tylenol handy. Good luck on your surgeries. It'll be surgery day in no time.

I KNEW it! Conspiracy theorists UNITE! :spy: LOL! Notice the BIG font?

Crystal, Go back and re-read, first, your list of NSV's (absolutely fantastic), and second, all the posts from people who love and support you - not forgetting all the posts from people whose lives have been touched so positively by you. I too am always happy to see your posts, they're always on point and full of encouragement and enthusiasm. Here's to Year Two! Cheers!

Don't worry Carla, I'm on day 8 post-op and the liquid diet is plenty to keep you full. The hardest part is getting in enough water and protein. You're going to be fine, but I'll be thinking of you tomorrow just the same. Check back in and let us all know how you're doing.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and advise. michmouse: no Thrush here, thank goodness. It's the Isopure. I haven't had any today and, viola, no catbox mouth. Thank goodness. PhotoNut: doc said to avoid the Slimfast entirely. Can't remember why. Maybe carbs or calories to Protein ratio? Hmmm. Mixing it with the whey protein my be a solution though. I'll check it out. Thanks. banded for life: lot's of posts here about mixing Peanut Butter with the Protein Drink. There must be something to it. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for reminding me. the best me: the egg drop soup in our chinese restaurant has so much egg floating in it, it's impossible to separate. Maybe I should find a new chinese restaurant for soup. Thanks. Wheetsin: how did the DiVinci syrup work out? That might be a solution. Let me know. dolphin dreams: Body Fortress and light orange juice! Genius. I'm off to the store for OJ. Thanks. leatha g: Do you know if the Lean Body protein tastes better than Body Fortress? It's the only one I can gag down at this point. Thanks. dongger: Is that from the movie Sixteen Candles? lol I'm not a big fan of the raw egg but the cream cheese part sounds pretty good. Maybe mixed with the couple of tablespoons of sf choclate pudding that 'banded for life' recommended. Thanks. BandsterHopeful: Are you banded yet? I can't tell by your post. I had surgery exactly one week ago today. The antibiotic is Cefelexina (ah, Mexico) 500mg and came from my surgeon. He showed me how to soak the capsule for a couple of minutes until it gets "pruney" then swallow it down. Up until that experience the capsules haven't been a problem at all, even a little bit. I just didn't let it soften up enough before I swallowed it. Note to self: Must Learn Patience. Anyway. The problem with the liquids, clear or pureed, is that my pouch hasn't stretched yet as my doctor assures me it should and will, I can't get enough pureed food in there to make it to the 50 grams of protein he recommends and the 60 grams of protein I think I should be trying for. Not yet anyway. Thus, the dreaded protein supplement and all it's joyous issues. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND SUGGESTION!

:amen: Thanks for the heads-up on this one!

Susan, Are you a homemaker like me? Any kids? (None for me.) Your thread has motivated me to turn the computer off and go outside for a little walk. Before Darcy kicks my butt! :faint2:

Ohhh. Don't be discouraged. Fifty pounds is awesome! Mark my words - next week (or the week after if they're REALLY oblivious, lol) EVERYONE will notice and say something nice. AND the mailman will hit on you! So sayeth your soothesayer Madame BellaDonna. :moony: You'll see.

Hi fit2bsexy, I'm in the D/FW area. Welcome to LBT! Barbara, don't forget you'll be required to be on a liquids only diet from a few weeks to a month or more depending on your doctor and then you'll be on "mushies" for awhile too. Think about that while planning your surgery and cruise. Either way you go, good luck with your surgery and enjoy that cruise!

Mary, Can you tell me how many carbs, fat and sugar per serving? Thanks. I'm ready to just yak over the taste of all the Protein stuff I've tried! I DID just try a pre-mixed Protein Drink called Genuine Muscle Milk (Chocolate Milk shake flavored). It tastes pretty good but the carb and fat ratio is a bit high. It's got 34 grams of protein, 17 grams of carbs and 17 grams of fat. It actually does taste like chocolate milk (go figure! lol) with very, little of that protein-y aftertaste. Thanks for the info.

Polling the Audience.....

I just got banded a week ago so I didn't vote. Got a gel capsule of antibiotic stuck 2 days ago - EXCRUCIATING PAIN! I'm missing food in a BIG way. Missing the mindless gobbling of useless crap that anesthetises me. I'm NOT missing the 14 pounds I've lost. Hmmmmmm. Right now, it's a toss up for me. Give me a couple of months and ask again, OK? -
Hi Leener, I can't wait to hear about your banding experience. We can compare notes! See you soon in Bandland! :clap2:

I would just love to come to lunch and meet everyone. I've been hoping this would happen close enough for me to join the fun. Has anyone thought to call Jason's and warn them . . . er, I mean, let them know we're coming? LOL I'd hate for them to run out of soup (that's all I can have right now). Add me to the RSVP'd list for two - my husband, Mike, and I.
-
What percentage of doctor's, do you suppose, are just jerks? And do you think they KNOW they're jerks? Or are they so high from the fumes of Treasury ink that they're oblivious to human suffering or feelings? I'm voting at least 50% (Disclaimer: I loved my doc and don't include him in that 50%) (Disclaimer to disclaimer: I really don't know him that well. )

So sorry to hear about all the problems and stress you're dealing with. It's good to know you have A LOT of people rooting for you and praying for you. Add me to that list. Go Vines Go! Go Vines Go! You can do it, you can do it, Go Vines Go! . . . Amen. :cheer2:. . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . :cheer2:. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :cheer2:

Love, love, love the Sopranos! My husband and I didn't watch the show when it aired originally. We bought the DVD's a few months ago and watched the whole series in one, two, and even three episode installments. We both just loved it. Shortly after watching the final episode *sniffle* we saw there was going to be A NEW SEASON!!!! YAY! I'm glad my surgery was done in time for me to be home to watch the season premier. We were in Mexico a week ago! I'm not on board with the flashback theory. How could Carmela's spec-house still be in the framing stage after two years? Clearly, Janice got pregnant and had a baby during the two year hiatis. She's pretty long in the tooth to have a baby. She's Tony's older sister after all. If there were twins I would say Invitro Fertilization. But no - one baby. Hmmmm. Will there be a story there? I notice that Bobby's other two kids didn't make an appearance. Did you check out A.J.? Man has he grown up. Hate the hair. And what about Carmela's father - he's really aged in those two years. When they showed Vito and they all talked about his weight loss, I turned to my husband and said, "Can you say, Weight Loss Surgery?" LOL Are you sure it was a lap band and not RNY or DS? He had a lot of weight to lose. I hate that Uncle Jr. is so far gone. I loved his character and I don't see any way that he can be a real participant anymore. Only a downward spiralling. The guy that hung himself was a minor character in the series. What a gruesome (and probably very realistic) suicide, huh? Too bad he gave Tony "a taste" of the $2 Million inheritance. Well, too bad for his wife and daughter - not for Tony! So what do you think? Will Tony flip? It's the only way he can walk away unscathed. I think he'll go down in a blazing gun battle and some minor character will become the new Boss. Business as usual. End of series. Thanks for starting this post - None of my friends watch the show and I was dying to talk about it with someone! Please let's keep this thread going! LOL

Hi Joslyn, I don't want to be gloomy or cause alarm but my Dr. said that very little or no restriction could be a sign of erosion. Talk to your doctor, get a fill and see if your restriction returns. At 14 months post op you might also consider having an endoscopy to check the stoma/band area of your stomach just to be sure - or reassured - that your band and stomach are OK.

I was banded last week by Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey Mexico. Dr. Rumbaut told me he's aware of someone who's had their band for 16 or 17 years. Of course the band wasn't placed in the United States. Dr. Rumbaut himself was banded in Italy where banding has been going on for a lot longer than here.

This is pretty cool. I see that Iluvharleys lives down the street from me. I'm enjoying the site but I feel hesitant to add myself to the map. I guess I'm just paranoid. You know what they say: "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you." :paranoid

:faint: LOL! Oops! That's what I meant to type. I guess I better start "previewing" my posts.

Warm water or warm tea. Sip, sip, sip. Try to keep the pill wet until it unsticks. If your stomach can tolerate it, try some light food to push the pill off your throat. Come back to the board and tell us how it goes OK?
