Weight lost stall after 9 months

As others have said, we all lose differently but my doctor told me that my long term plan should be....60 gms protein/day, 800-1,000 calories/day, maximum of about 1 c. food per meal, 64 oz fluids/day and at least 30-60" of exercise daily. He said to never go over 1,000 calories daily forever.
  2. I developed 2 kidney stones at 5 months post op...one was stuck in the ureter and was excruciatingly painful!! Had emergency surgery to remove it, but the other stone is still in the kidney. Got a stent placed for 11 days then that was removed in follow up surgery. It's been 5.5 months since surgery and no more problems so far. No one (surgeon, nutritionist, etc) told me that kidney stones were common after weight loss surgery...Mr. Google told me that, but too late. Now I try to drink alot of fluids and avoid stone-making foods.

    Hair loss...

Me too!! By 6-7 months I probably lost about 1/3 of my hair and had 3 fairly bald spots!! I had thick hair and it was at about the middle of my back so I was quite upset when it got so thin and shorter (just below my shoulders now). I'm now at 10 months post op and my hair is getting thicker (the bald spots have mostly filled in) but it hasn't grown longer. I'm hoping that eventually it will become normal again, but who knows.

    Overate and feeling it

I repeat my mantra everyday and especially if I'm tempted to eat a bad food or too much...."no food tastes as good as being thin feels!" 🌞

    Before and After Pics

Had VSG and am 10 months out now...have lost 85# with 15 more to get to goal. Life has totally changed for the better.
  6. Even though I was told about taste changes, I didn't really believe it until it happened! I have found that I now dislike things I used to like and visa versa. Very strange phenomena, but it happened...certain food textures bother me now too, but never did before.
  7. Diabetes GONE...sleep apnea GONE...acid reflux GONE!! Used to take 5 meds each day...now, no meds at all. Just a vitamin. And no CPAP machine!

CONGRATS!!! You're obviously working the plan! Keep it up, it's worth it. I also got to stop all meds (4 for diabetes including 2 insulins, & GERD meds) as well as the CPAP machine! I now walk 2-5 miles a day and lift weights 3 days/week. Being thin feels so much better than food tastes!!

    Not telling anyone

I worked in a hospital where quite a few of our staff had this surgery in the past couple of years and everyone saw them have great results and were very supportive. When I had my surgery last August, I shared it with several coworkers, my boss and my family. It wasn't a big secret but I didn't talk alot about it. When I returned to work (7 weeks later), I had lost 40# and everyone could tell. I retired 6 months after surgery and had lost 85# by then so everyone knew. It was the best decision of my life and although I rarely tell others that I've had it, I don't mind talking about it either.

    Non Scale Victories

I'm 9 months post sleeve surgery and have been on a cruise around the world for 3.5 months so far (is for 6 months total). I had to buy an ENTIRE new wardrobe before leaving (expensive but fun)...but what's really fun is being able to buy clothes in Asia where the women are so small. I used to wear a 2XL but now wear a medium! And I still have 15# to lose in order to be at my goal...hoping I'll be in a small then! Here are before and after pics....
  12. My doctor suggested RNY, but I preferred VSG. He said his suggestion was because I was on 4 diabetes meds. I had the sleeve 9 months ago and have lost 94# so far....just 15# more to goal. I'm off all meds and sugars are 70's-100! Sleep apnea gone...GERD gone!! No matter which one you choose, you'll still have to change the way you think about food and exercise...instead of loving food and not loving exercise, it'll have to become the opposite or you'll be back where you started. Food is just fuel. I've seen friends gain their weight back many times and am determined not to let it happen to me.
  13. Before....238# After....145# Lost 93# in 7 months. 15# left to get to goal.
  14. Had surgery 8/1/18....highest weight was 238#....I'm 7 months out now and am at 145#! Feels fantastic, but I still have 15# to get to my goal. Losing is slower now so I'm adding weight training to my cardio. My desire is to be at or exceed my goal by the 1 yr anniversary. Oh...and I'm 65 yrs young!

Any seniors over 65 sleevers ?

Actually, we can! I'm 65 and was sleeved 5 months ago...best decision EVER!! Have lost 73# so far, diabetes is gone and sleep apnea gone! I feel like I'm 30....have so much energy and no back and leg pain anymore. You're definitely not too old and better health will make the senior years so much more enjoyable.
