    Expected weight loss rate?

I dropped 37 pounds in my first month, then proceeded to lose not one single pound for nearly two weeks!! It's normal, so don't lose faith!!
  2. My plan was clear liquids for Days 1-2, full liquids Days 3-7, soft foods Weeks 2-3, then normal diet from Week 4 onward. Compared to other plans I've seen, mine seemed to be rather aggressive.

    October 2018 Sleevers

Aside from not eating nearly as much as I did before, one thing I have noticed over the past ten weeks is that I cannot tolerate anything even remotely spicy!! Today I had a meal with some fajita veggies on it for lunch, and my stomach revolted!! Just another lesson learned...

    October 2018 Sleevers

I kind of did the same thing yesterday: I ate around 1200-1300 calories when my normal intake is closer to 700-800. I got on the scale this morning to assess the damage and...I LOST THREE POUNDS!! I was shocked to say the least, and it's not something I expect to happen every time.

    Frustrated

It's definitely not easy, especially around the holidays, but always keep in mind the reason why you went through the surgery to begin with! When I met friends for lunch during the first month or so, I simply explained why I had to eat the way I did - - it was never an issue after that.
  6. It really is a personal decision whether or not to tell anyone about your bariatric surgery. I let my family, co-workers, and close friends know about it before I went in for surgery, and then told everyone else after it was over. Although I was expecting some dissension, I didn't receive one negative reaction to my decision.

    50 and Up Sleevers

I was a month shy of 56 when I had my VSG, but my age hasn't stopped the weight from dropping off - - just remember to keep moving and stick to your doctor's plan!!

I Was Amazed When I Heard This

If the gentleman can tolerate steak - no matter where he is in his post-op progress - good for him! That's HIS choice, and we shouldn't judge him on what he feels is right for him. I have no food restrictions, but I decided early on to wait until the three month mark to have steak again. Whether it's right or wrong, that's what I have decided to do, and it's really not up to anyone else (aside from my bariatric doc) to judge me on it. Everyone is unique in their journey, so one size really doesn't fit all.

    October 2018 Sleevers

After losing 37 pounds my first month, I figured it would be smooth sailing to my goal weight of 190 - - lo and behold, my weight loss came to a screeching halt after 5 weeks! I experienced my first stall between weeks 5 and 7; I went from losing 8-9 pounds per week to losing almost nothing! I was a bit dismayed for a few days, then came back to the realization that my body was merely adjusting, and I didn't need to worry so much about it. I'm down 55 pounds in ten+ weeks, which is still quite a feat. I just have to stay the course and remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint!!

    Regrets???

My only regret is that I put off surgery for several years!! There were moments in the first several weeks that made me wonder what on earth I got myself into (mainly indigestion issues), but when I get on the scale and see numbers that I haven't seen in years, I regret nothing!!
