Looking for information on DR Alanis in Houston, Texas I had my consult with him and did my blood work, pscy eval and met with the dietician. I'm waiting to call monday to see if they received everything and sent it off. I have United Health choice. My hsuband works for Shell anyone else has this insurance or employer? If so plese help

He is very nice, but I have found out yes his office is always packed and he is always late. He told me the same thing and this is not working. I asked him for a fill and got a little lecture sort of like the information he gave you. I have only lost 8 ounds and I struggle everyday to keep those off. I go up and down. I am so frustrated. He did agree to give me a fill but I wonder? I still have no restriction and can eat wahtever I want. Everyone I know that has the band says you have to get to the right fill spot and then you are in business. He told me about getting my mind right and not to eat after 7 and I know all that works but if I had the will power to do all that without any help I would not need him. I really regret right now picking him as my surgeon and I feel like this is not going to work for me.

Thanks this my 8th day post op and feeling much better today I'm actually going out today with my son to get a cake for dad and make a run in walmart real quick. It's going ok I just thought I would have lost more weight by now but I'm trying to stay positive and just move forward. I go to my doc Monday fpor my first post op visit real curious to see what he has to say. Oh well United was a joy to work with. They were very nice when I called and they really didn't require much and I got my approval in 5 business days.

I used Dr Alanis and I ahve been dying o try and find some of his other patients, who are you using.

Hi all well it's my 6th day out and I can't believe I'm still having this crazy gas issue. One day it will get better and then here it is again. Feeling much better other than that. I go to doctor Monday and is hoping he says I can start soft foods. Not really starving, but I'm getting kind of worried because my stomach is starting to growl a little. Well I have only lost 5 pounds sense surgery as well. I don't know today I was just feeling a little down I need some encouraging words.

Pray for me I go in tomorrow at 5:30 the day has finally come I'm nervous but ready. I will post to let you all know how it went and my expereince. I was really kind of emotional today as well. Is that normal?

Ok I'm getting ready as well I start the pre -op diet tomorrow and I'm like ok can I do this? But I will try with all my might. For some reason reality kicked in about Tuesday and I was eating everything in sight. Like I was never going to see food again. My surgery is June 5th this coming thursday. A part of me is excited and part nervous and a part wants to back out. I will ahve to stay overnight was wishing they would send me home same day but doctor says he makes everyone stay overnight. But I keep thinking of myself losing weight and thinking of how happy I will be. But then I keep thinking what if this doesn't work too well for me and I don't lose as much. I know about 2 people I work with and they have not really lost anything and it's been a while. But I will stay positive and just try and experience my own journey here. Ok I will count on all of you to be my support system here since I'm not telling anyone in my family just husband. I did tell a few co-workers. Anyway anoyone from Houston and using Dr Alanis? Tiff

Can you please tell me what kind of pain medication you were prescribed post op. I'm allergic to vicodin so I was just wondering I'm sure they would send you home with something.

Yes m doc said don't pcik up anything over 10 pounds for 6 weeks

Just got my date June 5th

I got my date today and everything went really fast. I have all kinds of emoitions as well. I havn't told anyone in my family except husband of course. I feel kind of scared and actually thought about cancelling. Today i just kind of felt depressed after coming from the doctor when I should be happy. I really think it is kind of like I'm mourning food right now. But I know once I start losing and see that it's not that bad and I wake up from surgery i will start to feel happier. My date is June 5th

Went today for my pre-op visit my date is going to be June 5. Getting kind of nervous will start shopping for some of my stuff this weekend. he said I will ahve to stay over night.

Well called today to give me a date it's set for June 3rd 2 weeks from now. I go tomorrow for my pre-op visit with the doctor I was wondering can anyone tell me what this visit consist of?

I really liked him, he was very professional and had a really nice bedside manner. I felt really comfortable with him. No his office was not packed and I really did not wait long to see him. I had to take my son with me sicne he was sick and I didn't want to cancel and he even sparked up a conversation with him. I just found out today I'm approved and now I'm waiting on a date. His office staff is always nice and friendly when I call. I had United as well and things went very smooth.

Well I found out today that i was approved jsut waiting on a date now. I'm pretty scared and nervous now.

I called insurance company yesterday and I was told everything was finalized that morning and I would get the letter soon. so I called the doctors office and asked them could they check it online and they did and everything is a go. Someone should call today to set up a date. I'm shocked everything went so smooth. I went in April 22 for consult with doctor April 27 for blood work and dietary consult April 28 for Pscy evaluation. paper work was submitted on May 13 to insurance and I got an answer May 21 the day bfore my son's 7th birthday. So maybe I will get a date today on his birthday. I have to admit I'm kind of scared now and not as excited as I thought I would be. A part of me keeps saying maybe I should just try on my own, what if something happens to me and I'm not here for my son anymore. I know something can still happend to me with the extra weight as well and now I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but I'm scared now. I know this is normal to be a little scared now since it's actually going to happen but I didn't think I would be this nervous. Please tell me how you are feeling and maybe we can be band buddies since our journey is beginning together. :rolleyes2:

Thanks Triser I really appreciate the infromation. I actually did try to call today and they didn't know what I was talking about. I think they did get me to a care coordinator, but she didn't know anything as well but told me to have them call it in. I will just let it rest for a week.

Wow I am the same weight and height as you. I went in for my consult already and they were telling me the same thing. I have just dveloped High Blood Pressure and the are watching me for that before I start taking medicine. But I can lose and then regain. I'm waiting on apporoval right now all paperwork has been sent in. I have started again trying to lose and exercisng. I said the same thing to my husband this weekend that maybe I should just try on my own since I havn't really been doing anythig the last few months. I have lost 6 pound this week and I keep saying to myself yes just keep trying this on your own. I have been going back and forth. But I wonder if I get a call saying I'm approved will I feel the same way. Any way keep in touch and let us know what you deceide

Thanks Triser for the reply,I'm just sitting and waiting. I havn't called to see if UHC got the paper work or anything yet. The doctor office said they would send it out no later than friday (last week) so I will give it a few days before I start bugging them. Do you know if you can see this online with them I registered to be able to check claims I see where my blood work and consult is on there. I was wondering if I would see the request for services on their as well.

I was banded about 4 years ago Jan 04 I had problems right after the first fill and I had terirble after care. to make a long story short I ended up having to have the band removed 7 months later and after a so called repair a month before. I lost 80 pounds in that short period of time due to being sick all the time. Once I got it removed I did struggle for all that time to keep the weight off until September of last year. Had a major life change, relocated, changed jobs and left friends behind. I have now started gaining. I just started the process all over again, have had consult with doctor but he sugessted to go with the band again since I don't have 100 pounds to lose. They said they were going to turn paperwork in Friday so I will call Monday to see if they did send it in.

Is anyone here from Texas? I have UHC choice plus with Shell Oil Co. Was wondering if anyone here could give me some input on your experience with UHC

I noticed you used Dr Alanis, I'm looking for feedback regarding him and his care. I had my consult with him and have done all paper work. His office said they would send it in by Friday at the latest (May 9) How is his after care? How is his office staff? Do they stay on top of your case while dealing with the insurance people? I know alot of questions but I was just curious and needed some help. Thanks in advance Where did you have the surgery done. I have UHC also choice plus how was your experience with them?
