Migraines after surgery? First aura
MistyRS replied to dreamingofasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was drinking crystal light mixes daily and just recently stopped because the doctor said that could be a trigger. I only have 1 kidney so I am very limited on the medication I can take that is why we are opting for Botox. -

Migraines after surgery? First aura
MistyRS replied to dreamingofasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’ve had migraine since I was 14. Had surgery 12/10/19 down 34 lbs and my migraine are horrible! I have had one for every day for almost a month! I am currently waiting for insurance approval to try Botox!! My family all seems to think it’s bc I’m not eating enough and there are days I feel feel pressure to eat more! I think I’m eating too much I feel like I should have lost more by now! I struggle to get in exercise because of the migraines! Hopefully I get approved to try Botox My current migraine meds are not working! -

To tell or not to tell?
MistyRS replied to Reducingraven's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only told who I trusted like my husband, mother and sister. I didn’t even tell my job. I started the process 10/18 and by 12/07/18 I was having surgery. I had a weeks vacation left so I took it the week of surgery and went back to work the next week. I am down 30lbs and really not many people have noticed and I have now told a select few a week. In the end, it’s your body and you tell who you want! By no means is it the easy way out! You still have to watch your food intake and still fight the mental part of wanting to eat when your truly not hungry! I have PCOS so I know your issues when it comes to that as well! I still find some days are a struggle with eating. Good Luck -
Congratulations

Yes he is doing great so far! He also has a hereditary kidney disease so we’re hoping he gets 15 to 20 years out of mine because he is only 38 and has 5 boys! It’s really crazy to see how many people will not become a living organ donor. The only thing it has changed for me is not being able to take certain medications. Sorry to hear about your loss it really does suck because your right when your dead your dead.

Keto Diet with weight loss surgery - What are your thoughts about it?
MistyRS replied to erics300's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am not in Ketosis. All my Jell-O and popsicles have sugar in them and I was eating cream of potato soup just to make sure I stayed out of it. I drink a strawberry Snapple everyday as well and have since surgery. Also I should say I have left over Keto Strip that you pee on just to make sure! -

Keto Diet with weight loss surgery - What are your thoughts about it?
MistyRS replied to erics300's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I did Keto last year and lost 30lbs and felt great! Took a cruise and of course totally bombed Keto so I thought I get back on when we got home. I tried never really got back into it. I ended up gained 45 lbs back and got a kidney stone from the diet because I only have 1 kidney and I should have never done the diet. It works but only if you are going to stick with it. From my experience please make sure the diet is safe for you! Once I got sleeved I am watching my carbs but I am not getting into Ketosis! Good Luck! -
I donated my kidney 5 years ago to my brother so I haven’t been able to take NSAIDS since that time so hearing once I got sleeved I couldn’t taken them either believe it or not there are some alternatives. I suffer from chronic migraines as well so I have had to change my meds because of only having one kidney. I have been prescribed Fiorcet for headaches or any minor thing. You can also take Vicodin. Discuss with your Family Doctor mine is amazing at finding the right pill and making sure it’s safe for my one kidney.

I am about 17 days out and I only lost 1lb last week. I feel your frustration. I am barely eating anything I feel like it should be melting off! Lol. I did start doing some cardio at the end of last week so maybe I see more this week. Good Luck!!

Awesome, Thanks. I will check it out. I should have been more prepared for this. LOL

I definitely need more variety in my protein shakes. I am sick of the Chocolate and I have one flavored tropical fruit Premiere One. I need to try the Syntrax Nectar.

I never thought about getting a soup and blending it that way. I will have to try it. I can have pudding but I am not much of a pudding eater but I do eat it every now and then. Thanks

I can’t have purée until I go for post op on the 28th. I can only have liquid and creamy soups with no chunks! Just tired of the same stuff but I guess it’s not much longer before I can add more things!

I was in a lot of pain the first few hours but by that night I was fine. Walking in the hospital helped me a lot as I think a lot of the pain is gas related. If you can manage try and walk and see if that helps. It will get better. I had my surgery just 11 days ago and I went back to work last week just 6 days after surgey. So it does get better.
