A few people have commented that my voice has changed since I've lost weight. Has anyone else experienced this. Might it be true that because there is less fat everywhere that even our voice will sound different.

End of Weight Loss Timeline
Mary Sarah Smith posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
At what point did your weight loss stop and steady out? I'm six months post surgery and have lost 62 lbs since surgery and 82 lbs since my highest weight. I'm still about 20 lbs away from not being overweight according to the BMI charts and the clinic I attend. My weight loss has slowed down considerably which I assume is quite normal but I'm wondering if this is it and if this is my maintenance point. Or if I can hope for more weigh loss just at a slower pace. How long after surgery did other people's weight plateau for good? Thank you!- 2 replies

Sorry for the TMI post, but I'm curious to know if anyone else is experiencing very long, loud, stinky farts? If so, do you have solutions for this problem? Beano? Probiotics? Never leaving your house?

Interesting. I'll keep an eye on that, but it doesn't seem to have rhyme or reason right now. Thank you.

I agree with the quote "If you believe it, you can achieve it." My problem has been that presurgery, for about a decade, I simply no longer believed I could lose weight and keep it off. It seemed hopeless. So hopeless in fact that I couldn't even bother to start trying because I knew my progress would not last. Once I decided on having the surgery, I finally believed. I believe enough that I am disposing of all clothes that no longer fit me. I had never done this before in my life. I would just hold on to my clothes for when I was sure to need them again. I only ever disposed of clothes that were too small. So now, I'm in a bit of a predicament. I'm finding my new found belief is dwindling because so many people in my program's support group I attend have gained so much of their weight back. I am continually inspired by wls posts I see on instagram and they make me see it is indeed possible with the most incredible transformations. I check these posts daily to keep my belief strong. Would you suggest I stop going to my program's support group? Or do you think the knowledge and accountability from attending outweighs the squashing of my belief?

Anyone have no issues with plain water?

I've not had any issues with water. I've always loved water and still do. I can have lots with no problem. Tastes the same to me. -
Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?
Mary Sarah Smith replied to J Johnston's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm super proud of this decision. It is a very difficult step to take. I essentially thought I was saying goodbye to the thing I loved most in the world. It took courage to do this. I don't believe the majority of the people in my life would see it this same way. Therefore, I've chosen to keep it a secret for this reason and a few other reasons, but I go to support groups so a whole bunch of strangers know. I'm sure at some point the rest of the world will know too. I'd prefer them not to, but I don't want to risk my success by not attending the support groups. -
This is my first post. I had RNY on Oct 18, 2018. I'm down 37 pounds since surgery, so I'm quite happy with the loss. Following my programs plan, I'm still at the soft food stage. I am both delighted and terrified as to the amount of food I can eat. I'm eating more than my share of protein first, but find that I can eat a whole lot of it. I'm diligently keeping track of my food and am seeing that I have to be quite careful to keep my calories under 1500. I am regularly eating between 1100-1300 calories. I've stopped having protein supplements all together as I'm getting in all my protein through regular food: eggs, fish, prawns, cheese, beans, etc. Might anyone else be in this same boat? Should I be worried about the quantities I'm able to consume so early on? If I can eat this much now, will I be able to eat a whole lot more down the line?

Worried Sweet-Tooth with question
Mary Sarah Smith replied to Robynsquest's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m only 2 months in and have not experienced dumping. I’ve managed to stay away from most sugar but have had Halo Top frozen treats, max fruit popsicles, and non diluted juice with no problem. -
Calorie Intake
Mary Sarah Smith replied to Mary Sarah Smith's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone for your feedback. As you know the surgery was done on my stomach and not head; therefore, just as I found it difficult to stop eating before I find it difficult now. I was relying on my physically not being able to eat more so I’m surprised. I’m not disappointed, but a little concerned. I’m confident I’m not stretching anything as I feel no discomfort whatsoever.
