Spread Sheet for Tracking April Avengers 08
asingingdiva replied to GiGiRN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My 11 month bandiversary was March 22nd. My weight was 161 lbs. for a total loss of 117lbs. thus far! Yesterday I actually reached a huge milestone as my weight dropped down to 160 lbs. which means I am now no longer catagorized as being obese! I am now officially just plain ole overweight, with only 30 lbs. more to go before I reach my goal weight. My surgeon had already mentioned a referral to a plastic surgeon in my near future. As the fat melted away from my tummy I found a lump in the right side of my panniculus thatturns out to be a sebaceous cyst. My surgeon says because of this cyst, the hospital records, and thev photos of the bouts of abdominal cellulitis I've endured over the years, my health insurance will cover the removal of the excess skin I need to shed. -

I go see Dr. Ringold this Monday and hope he may tighten me up just a bit. I still have 50 lbs. more to loss, UGH! Hope everyone is having a great year so far! -

I try to stay away from sugar, without denying myself completely of sweets. I also work out about 3 times a week on the ellipitical at work for 30 minutes. Drink lots of Water as well! I think the rate you lose kind of coorelates with how much you need to lose. If you study the spreadsheet you'll notice most of us who were the heaviest before surgery, have taken it off quicker. I am only 5' 2'' and was 278lbs. before I began my preop diet. I lost 21 lbs. before surgery, which I felt was a lot of weight to lose in just 10 days. I'm sure most of it was probably water weight. However, I do know for a fact that the amount of lean muscle an individual has, the faster their body will burn the fat off. This is why men tend to lose weight faster than women. Most of my weight is around my abdomen, but my legs have always been very muscular (like body builder legs, literally). Also, studies have shown that people who carry the majority of their weight on their abdomens have an easier time shedding the weight. Everyone loses weight differently, so I think my success has been due to my own geniune physical makeup more than anything. Still it seems we've each been successful in our weight loss no matter at what rate we're losing it. -

I am happy to report that as of September 22nd (my 5 month bandiversary) I weighed in at 202 lbs. for a loss of 76 lbs. I have now lost more than half of the weight I need to reach my goal weight! -
Congrats! I've also come off my blood pressure medicine and am now just 3lbs. from being half way to my goal weight. My BMI has come down 13 points as well and I am starting to wear size 18's instead of XL sizes. :rolleyes2:

I too have had a foot injury (back of my ankle) since having lap band surgery and beginning to excercise on a regular basis. I ignored the pain for nearly 3 months before going to an orthopedic doctor about the pain. I just couldn't ignore the pain any more as it really began to effect my walking, going up and down stairs, etc. The doc diagnosed me with achilles tendonitis and no he did not ask me to stop working out. He did however send me to Physical Therapy, where I am learning how to stretch. "Achilles tendonitis is often associated with a sudden increase in the intensity or frequency of exercise. When treated promptly, Achilles tendinitis is often short-lived. Left untreated, Achilles tendinitis could cause persistent pain or cause your tendon to tear (rupture). If so, you may need surgery to correct the damage." So needless to say, I'm glad I went on and saw the doctor instead of ignoring it any longer. My advice to you is you should go see the doctor and rule out any serious injury that might put you on bed rest for a long period of time.

Hey, I would like to know if you could edit my info on the April Avenger spread sheet for me please?
Today marks my 3rd month post-op anniversary and when I visited the Dr. yesterday I weighed in at 223lbs., which means I have now lost a total of 55lbs. in 3 months.
My Dr. actually told me I had lost too much since the last time I saw him, so he did not give me another fill at this time.
Thanks for your help, Laura (from Alabama)

I just added myself twice, because I did not add my after preop diet weight the first time. Could you please edit it for me, as well as adding the "-" signs for the weight lost, cause I didn't do that either. Sorry for the inconveince! -
Name: Laura (from Alabama) Date you were banded: 04/22/08 Weight loss to date: 21lbs. (pre-surgery diet) + 30lbs. (since surgey) = 51 lbs. How are you feeling? Better than I have in several years! I have more energy and drive, which helps me get off my butt and excercise like I should.

Newly banded in Bama

Thanks, good luck to you as well! -
Hi, I just stumbled upon this site today when I was trying to find answers to some of my lap band questions. I was just banded on April 22nd and just went to my first post-op visit this past Monday. Since I started the pre-op diet on April 12th, I had lost 28 lbs., 7lbs. post-op. My surgeon was Dr. Forrest Ringold, here in my hometown of Mobile, Alabama. Presently, the skin around my incisions is about to itch me to death and the Benadryl I've taken has made me very sleepy. Anyone else had to deal with this post-op dilema?
