The drain hangs off the right side of your body, but the tube goes all the way to the left and spirals. I could feel it moving under my skin (from a few inches under my left breast toward the right) when my doc removed it a week after my surgery. I would definitely tell them you're in pain and you think there's fluid building up. You don't want it to get infected.

I'm almost 2 months out from my surgery and the pain didn't subside for almost 3 weeks for me. I don't think there's a real measurement for when your specific pain will vanish since not all surgeons are the same, and people have different pain tolerances. I still get the occasional pain on my left side, mostly if I sit down for too long, but it's nothing like what you're describing. Did they give you a JP drain? If they removed it too early, you might have fluid built up in your abdomen which is causing you the discomfort. If you had a leak, you'd be in quite a bit of pain, so I would definitely have them scan you to make sure it's not that. Better safe than sorry.

Oh my goodness! That's so embarrassing but it's a good sign you're losing! I'm having a problem with my undies, too. I liked to use cotton elastic ones, but now they're too loose and aren't staying in place. haha -

My office doesn't open again until tomorrow, but I will definitely bring it up. Thank you! And I was terrified of my surgery because my friend thought it would be funny to send me a video about anesthesia awareness a few days before my surgery. I was freaking out, but my surgery went fine. lol -

They did not. My gallbladder was clear (my cousin did the ultrasound and said my gallbladder was "lovely"), so they didn't start me on anything. I don't believe my surgeon took it out during my surgery, either. -

Thank you! And well, the bigger you are, the more/quicker you lose. Your starting weight is 150lbs less than mine, but you're losing! Slow and steady. I'm nervous that I'm going to get gallstones with how fast I'm dropping, but only time will tell. -

I've lost about 40lbs since my surgery, my starting weight was my first weigh-in back in March during my initial appointment with my surgeon. I guess living off pudding and milk for 2 weeks makes you lose weight fast haha -

Clothing while you're losing weight

So, this morning I needed to make a trip to the grocery store and I pulled on a pair of jeans. I took two steps out of my bedroom and the jeans fell down and pooled around my feet. I started crying. Happy tears, not sad. Those jeans used to fit me pretty snug, and now they are so loose that they won't stay up. I never thought my clothes would be too big on me and it was a bit of a reality check for me making me realize that I'm getting healthier and I'm actually doing it. I just want to know, did you guys start buying more clothes right away? I can't really afford to keep buying new clothes every few months, so does anyone else have other alternatives? I work from home so I don't need dressy stuff, just jeans and t-shirts. Good Will? Wal Mart? Thanks -

Gastric sleeve and Back pain
xMissyChrissy replied to Green1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any rapid weight change will cause distress on your back. I pinched my sciatic nerve years ago, and it's been acting up recently. I'm about a week and a half post op and it's gotten very painful. Since I've already lost like 25lbs, I figured that the weight loss caused it. That, and my stomach hurts, so I've been having to sit and lay in weird positions to be comfortable, which is putting pressure on my back. I was told not to take muscle relaxers while my incisions and stomach are healing, so I've been trying to rely on Tylenol to help (spoiler alert: it doesn't). So, while I don't know if the bulges are related to it, I can tell you from personal experience that back pain is something I'm dealing with post-op. -

Thank you all for the advice! I assumed that they want zero sugar with artificial sweeteners, but I double checked with my NUT and she said exactly what everyone else is saying. As long as it's not an outrageous amount of sugar, it's perfectly fine. I'm going to try the Dannon Light and Fit.

Hi everyone! I'm brand new, and I just had my surgery last week. I'm on the full liquid diet, which includes yogurt. I am having a really hard time finding a low fat yogurt with artificial sweeteners. I tried the Oikos Triple Zero, and even though I could tolerate it pre-op, it makes me extremely nauseous now. Does anyone have any recommendations of yogurt brands or styles? All of the Greek yogurt brands I have found seem to have like 6-7 grams of sugar, which I believe it too much, and haven't found any that are artificially sweetened (aside from Triple Zero). Thanks!
