Emergency!!Need Help!!
jasmineinmymind replied to skyfangy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you really researched it? I’ve read a lot of negative data. https://www.webmd.com/diet/obesity/news/20180606/weight-loss-balloons-linked-to-12-deaths-fda-says -
Keto Diet with weight loss surgery - What are your thoughts about it?
jasmineinmymind replied to erics300's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
All I know is that when I did keto I was so thirsty all the time I just couldn’t drink enough water. I wouldn’t do it again just because of the extreme thirst. That, and I don’t ever want to have to restrict the amount of vegetables that I eat. -

jasmineinmymind replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah. I guess it’s entirely possible just to say that I have to have a procedure done and that I don’t care to discuss it. That will just have to be good enough. -

I am having surgery in 3 weeks and would love some reassurance
jasmineinmymind replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well it's happening so I'm sort of trying to work it out in my mind that if I'm going to do it anyway I need to just try to get zen about it and let it happen. ugh! -
Im also 1/22. Hoping everything will go well. Do you feel prepared?

Clothing while you're losing weight
jasmineinmymind replied to xMissyChrissy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I already live in black leggings because all my pants are too small. I’m just going to continue to wear leggings and yoga pants and try really hard to to over shop for new tops. Thankfully I have quite a few tops that are too small. I wonder if I could possibly take in my tops with my extremely basic sewing skills -
I’m so scared of this. I look horrible with short hair, like people have even told me as much. If I have to cut it short I’m going to be really depressed

Im trying so hard not to be scared but I just looked at my ticker and it's 2 weeks and 6 days. Omg!

Good luck!! Let us know how it goes

Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?
jasmineinmymind replied to J Johnston's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would really love to tell everybody except there is so much ignorance about it. A lot of people still think that it’s taking the easy way out and that you didn’t really earn it. My only concern is that it feels like it’s going to be really obvious and if I say I didn’t have surgery then of course people would know that I’m lying. I’m honestly not sure what I’m gonna do. People don’t generally lose 100 pounds in 7-9 months by just doing weight watchers -
I'm so COLD!
jasmineinmymind replied to Separ1418's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I’m not looking forward to being cold all the time but the upside is that it gets to be well over 100 in the summer and at least I won’t be miserable like I usually am. Also my husband will be happy not having 2 fans going in our bedroom even in the winter -
Anyone have no issues with plain water?
jasmineinmymind posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm getting very scared reading through posts about plain water. I do NOT like additives like Mio and Crystal Light and I cannot imagine never being able to just drink water plain. It seems that a lot of people struggle, not just in the beginning but long term! I am freaking out at the thought of always having to add something special to my water. Is it really that bad? -
Could Someone 'Splain This To Me?
jasmineinmymind replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doctors program is pretty clear and they gave me a large booklet that spelled everything out. Even with that I have watched a ton of videos and read about what other people eat. I really think I’m going to follow my booklet to the letter because my doc has been doing this for 17 years and I trust his expertise. I’m also paranoid about ulcers etc so hopefully I can stick to it. I can’t even begin to imagine not knowing what to eat after the surgery, that just seems too scary! -
Whole lot of pre-op concerns..
jasmineinmymind replied to mousecat88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Food funerals?
jasmineinmymind replied to mousecat88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 3 weeks to go and I have noticed I am allowing too many grains into my diet and I am going to stop. I have been careful not to eat a lot of bread, pasta, white rice etc. but now I know I need to eliminate those things from my diet. I also am a sugar addict and I need to stop all sugar. Why? Because it takes time. I once gave up sugar for 1.5 years and it took a good 4 months before I stopped craving it. You can eat the things you crave yes, but it just keeps that cycle of addiction going. I know with every Hersheys kiss I put in my mouth I am just helping the addiction to continue. There is really no other way to get these things out of your system other than not consume them. Holidays were rough and I relaxed my standards too much and I reignited my love of chocolate. I have been off sweets for 4 days now and I want to stay off so i can really break the cycle. Maybe moderation works for some but for me it is way easier to stop completely and have those cravings go away. I get really sick of the endless cycle of eating something sweet and then that triggers the need for more and then the guilt that follows. So no I wont go to taco bell or eat chicken wings or chocolate cake because in order to lose weight and keep it off I know I'll never be able to eat like that. Might as well keep it out of my diet now so I'm not going to be thinking "damn those nachos were good, I want that again" -
I’m 51. I feel like this will be a good age to do this because I know for a fact that I have exhausted every single channel possible. I have tried everything and I know that this is my very last option. I will have the surgery knowing that it is absolutely the right thing to do. I did go through early menopause and my hair is a lot thinner than it used to be. I’m wondering how someone post menopausal will do as far as hair loss. I feel like I have absolutely no extra hair to lose!!! I’m scared of that part

Under 3 weeks left....nervous
jasmineinmymind replied to Ellens531's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is such a foreign concept to me to worry about but my mother thinks because she’s been nagging me to get bariatric surgery for the last eight years and I would never do it. She had it done herself and she thought that I should do it but I was always too scared. I know she’s happy that I’m having it done, my surgery date is January 22. I’m also nervous but excited! -
I Was Amazed When I Heard This
jasmineinmymind replied to Danny Paul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My feeling is that steak could possibly go down but how do you test that? I’m so paranoid about food getting stuck that I’m going to be afraid to try everything. I can’t imagine eating something like steak so soon because I would just be so afraid of having it sit in my pouch aching -

What to do when dumping?
jasmineinmymind replied to aferrenberg's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This is exactly what I want to know. If dumping is insulin issue why would a person not have some kind of medication available to counter it? Like Ive heard of people suffering up to 10 hours and it seems like there must be some remedy for that? Im talking about dumping right after eating
