    Horrible taste in my mouth

What gives me absolutely disgusting breath is protein drinks! yuck
  2. Hey everyone, I am 3 1/2 weeks postop gastric bypass. I’m wondering what my chances are of going down a shoe size or two. I have roughly 100 pounds to lose. As a female with size 11 feet it would be a blessing from the heavens if my feet got smaller!! (I’m. 5’8) they just don’t make any shoes in my size. So did anybody lose a shoe size or two?

Wish I never let sweets back in

I'm in the honeymoon phase right now. 30 days sugar free and I am going to do everything in my power never to test out sugar to see if I dump. I know that if I let it back into my life I'll be a slave to it. Right now every time I say no to sugar it forms new neuropathways in my brain and with enough time my brain will stop telling me to eat sugar because it thinks of it as a reward. Its like picking up a crack pipe for me anyway, I wont go back to sugar or desert like things even if theyre sugar free because I need my brain to stop making that association. In time it will but for now I have to fight the urge to eat the chocolate in my kitchen because I know it would just start the addiction all over again (even if I didnt dump)

    I just can't get warm!

I’m FREEZING and I am that person that was always opening a window or turning on the AC when everyone else was cold. It’s been a really nice change for me. Since I live in the central valley of California this is really a blessing because it gets very hot in the summer and I’m hoping this summer I won’t suffer like I normally do!

People with no more than 100 pounds to lose

Well I’m 3.5 weeks out and down 18 pounds. It’s probably about what you’d expect from someone with my BMI. I’m still in the puréed stage so I can’t really say how much diet impacts weight loss yet but I I have tried to keep myself active and not lay around. My surgeon did tell me that if I want to keep my weight down for the rest of my life I will need to hit the gym very regularly. I am 51 and come from a long line of overweight people so exercise will be critical for my long-term success. I know that that’s true because it’s the only way that I’ve ever been able to lose weight in my life. I’ve been on diets and lost pretty much nothing but when I actually start going to the gym I lose.

    7 day post op

    When is your follow up?

    Please help me

What did you eat? Did it make you feel sick? I find getting sick a really great incentive to try and stay on track!

Can we eat certain foods post op

Why on earth would you do the Keto diet after surgery? It’s terribly restrictive and you’ll struggle with dehydration and risk dumping because of the high fat.

    Post Op Foods

Try puréed squash, cooked carrots and other root vegetables. They’re delicious

    6 days post-op and hungry??????

Now that I’m on purées I REALLY feel the restriction. It feels great to be full. I’m feeling way more optimistic
  11. I feel so much better. Get out and get sunshine. Keep yourself busy. Laying around was making me so depressed. I make sure I shower and get out every day and it helps a lot
  12. My surgeons manual for eating is very general and doesn’t say exactly how much of any one thing to have. How do you know how much to consume? Like I am about to start purées on Wednesday and everyone says how important it is to measure but I don’t know how much I should be eating. Right now I can very easily eat half a cup of bean soup and barely feel full. I stop because I don’t want to overfill my pouch. I’ve actually Googled this subject and found no information. So how much of a puréed food can you consume at 2 weeks? Also protein shakes... how much?? I have only had the premier protein in a bottle because I don’t know how much of anything I can consume if I am blending it from powder.
  13. I’m feeling very low. I think it’s the winter blues and all these liquids. I start purées on Wednesday. I’m scared I won’t lose weight, and wondering if I can keep my goal of working out 6 days a week. I just want to be successful and I’m fearing the unknown

    Swelling and bloating

2 weeks out and I’m still pretty puffy and bloated

When I should I go back to my second job

Your biggest challenge will be drinking ALL day long plus vitamins and protein. It’s important to keep drinking till you get to your goal
  16. I can drink a lot in a small period of time. I have to really make myself slow down. I drank 8 oz of Fairlife milk last night. It went down super easy. Probably 15 minutes with no ill effects. I’m 2 weeks

How long have you been obese?

I’m in the same boat. I only gained weight after my pregnancies. My weight has really shot up in the last 5 years. I’m dying to restore my body to what I feel inside. I feel like the real me is around 150 lbs but it would be a great bonus to be even thinner (I’m 5’8)

    6 days post-op and hungry??????

I drink just about everything. Water, Premier shakes and drinks, tea, broth, thinned soups. Everything thats allowed. I have no restriction it seems. I only stop "eating" because of the amount I measure out, not because I'm full. and I am meeting my liquid and protein goals daily

    6 days post-op and hungry??????

I’m starting purées on Wednesday but the hunger is constant and never ending. I’m honestly really disheartened. I’m just sick about the fact that I feel NO different in terms of appetite after surgery. I know my doctor is very good and I’m sure he did a good job but I hate my body right now. I’m scared that I’m going to nibble my way through this damn bypass if I can’t stop feeling hungry all the time. This is legit stomach hunger not head hunger. Today I just feel defeated

    Smooth Sailing for Anyone?

I’ve been reading about complications a lot lately and it is scary. I am 2 weeks post op. I have to put that stuff out of my mind.

    Fried Chicken

Does the high fat not make you dump?
  22. So I am seven days postop. I have eight more days that I am supposed to be on full liquids. I’m wondering how many people eat soft foods when they were supposed to be on full liquids. And do you consider hot cereals like Malto Meal acceptable at this stage? I know I need to stick to my doctors plan but I would like to know what others have done in terms of sneaking in some mushy foods while in this stage.
  23. Emailed the nutritionist today and she said hold off on any cereals, even if they’re thin. So I guess that’s that
  24. jasmineinmymind

    When can you "try" steak?

I keep hearing that chicken doesn’t sit well. Is it the texture? Too bulky? This makes me sad because chicken was the real staple of my diet
  25. jasmineinmymind

    Bloating

Im 7 days out and I still look pregnant. I assume this is because of the surgery?
