    you look great!
  2. if by upset stomach you mean light diarrhea, then yes
  3. hmmm i live in manhattan and we don't have walmarts here. i'll look around in the local drug stores. i'm supposed to be on a liquid 1,000 cal diet. 5 shakes a day with 2 cups of vegetables allowed if i'm hungry. today i ate some salad with fat free sugar free dressing, two shakes in the afternoon, one piece of chicken and some chicken soup broth. i am probably still under 1,000 cals but the chicken was a definite cheat. hopefully i will be able to stay on just liquids for the next 12 days and the cheating from this early won't matter.
  4. mbsg, i'm also being banded on the 9th and i'm losing it on this liquid diet. i cheated tonight (which i'm sick about) b/c i came home from work utterly starving and ready to faint, and my roommate had chicken straight from the oven. i ate a piece, and can't believe i did that. maybe i have to try the carnation breakfasts, where did you buy them?
  5. ok i just spent way too much time reading the band erosion thread. can someone calm me down please and tell me that surgery is a good thing? i'm so freaked out!

    My before and afters

you look wonderful! pics like these are what make me sure of my decision to get banded.... 12 days until surgery!
  7. I just got home from work (it's tax season and I am an accountant) and my roommate had chicken fresh from the over and I ate some. I can't believe I did that, I need to figure out a way to not be starving so I don't cheat. I will have a total fit if my liver is too fatty and they don't do the surgery.
  8. I am on day 2 of liquids and I'm dying. What it seems like people are liking are the Optifast shakes and Unjury (I think it's called that). I couldn't find those and keep trying random different ones and feel like I'm going to pass out. Good luck!!! PS You're so lucky that you only have to start on 3/1 - my surgery is the day after you and I had to start yesterday.
  9. oh ok thanks. i'll look around in local stores.
  10. That did help, thanks so much. Where did you get the Optifast shakes? Did you have to order them from somewhere?
  11. i'm only on day 2 of 14 for liquids and i'm dying. what shakes were you drinking? i keep trying new ones and they are so nasty! and i'm starving, like seriously starving, b/c i am not drinking enough shakes b/c they make me gag....

    Liquid diet time

i totally relate. i only had one protein shake and some chicken broth tonight and i am worried about how im going to get through this. i want this surgery so much and am willing to do what i must, but i also have to function! i have a feeling that if you stick to a low carb low fat low cal diet you'll be alright, but i have nothing to really base that feeling on

    Liquid diet time

I'm on day 1 of a full liquid diet (plus a cup of veggies twice a day if i need) that I have to do for the two weeks before surgery. I had one shake for lunch and the taste made me gag, I had to very concsciously not throw up. For dinner I had some chicken soup broth which is fine, but I don't know how I'm going to get through eating shakes for the next four weeks (two pre and two post op). What shakes are you guys using? I greatly dislike the taste of milk so I put a whey protein powder in rice milk and it was really disgusting. Help please!

    For Orthodox Jews

I had a feeling matza would be a no this year. I could probably chew regular boxed matza well enough but shmura matza is not going to happen. I have a 12 step background and was not allowed to eat matza then, and I asked a rav who said health comes first. If you can't eat it, don't eat it. So I'm going to go with the same pasken from then and just do what I can do this year. When I was in the 12 step program I couldn't eat challa either, and the rav said it's ok to not wash as long as I drink a sip of kiddush (which wasn't allowed on the 12 step either but I told my sponsor it wasn't an option to skip that too).

December 2008, size 8 jeans, 7 months since banding

wow you look amazing. how much weight did you lose?
  17. oh god, i hope i feel the band earlier than that... i have such a fear of being hungry

  18. I want to be thinner than each of my four sisters were at their weddings. I am the oldest in my family and have four skinny sisters, and at their weddings they all weighed within one pound of each other. My goal weight is to be 2 pounds less than they were (they were 137-138, my goal is 135). Also -Not feel like every functional guy I meet is out of my league b/c of my weight -Buy clothes b/c I need and love them, not b/c they fit -Cross my legs effortlessly -Have my old friends not recognize -Be HEALTHY

    What do you all do?

I work in a public accounting firm as a financial statement auditor. I do some tax work too but am in the audit department. I'm in the middle of tax season here and so tired I could collapse - it's 12:30am on a Saturday night and I'm at the office with no end in sight...
  20. Hi All I have a questions regarding how much care I'm going to need post op. My mother was supposed to come to NY for my surgery (I live here and she doesn't) but my grandfather has been ill and she's been in the hospital with him and cannot miss more work to come here for me. I was planning on going back to my apartment after my surgery but I will be there alone all day and can't figure out if that's a stupid idea. My roommate will be home in the evening and will help me with anything I need but I don't know if that's enough. I do have the option of moving in with a family friend in the suburbs but really would prefer to recover in my own home and in my own bed. Any thoughts? Will I be ok on my own during the day? I've never had surgery before and really don't know! Thanks
  21. Thanks!!! I hope it goes well too. I am so excited for surgery that I don't know what to do with myself. I just want to have it and start losing this damn weight already...
  22. wow. ok. you make a very convincing argument.... i probably will take off. and you're right, it is way more efficient to do everything right the first time then to try to go fix mistakes (like i'm doing right now fixing my staff's mistakes at 11:30 pm on a saturday night at the office)
  23. Hmmm ok I think I'll play it by ear. I'm an accountant so that's a desk job, but it is tax season so I kind of feel like if I can manage to work then I should. If I'm not up to it on Thursday and Friday then I'll call in sick.
