male only Help! What can I buy My Doctor for Christmas?
anonymous_frnw posted a topic in The Guys’ Room
Does anyone have an idea what a surgeon would enjoy as a gift? I do not want to spend more than $50-$75. Thanks. -
I’m 7 mons after surgery and lost some weight, however, it did not come easy to me… I do not remember having one meal without vomiting right after. I had an esophgram done at a location close to my work which came ok, however, when I vomited even when my band was at 0cc, my doctor had me take the esophgram at his place (hospital) which detected a slippage.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> So, I have a surgery scheduled within two weeks. So here is my question: is this like a regular lapband surgery with five incisions, with the pain, gas, and all the other “good stuff”? if I chose to hold off on the surgery, how long can I live with a slippage before fixing it? How long do I need to be on liquid (before and after)? And, most important, what are the lesson learned that someone can tell me so this will not happen again? I appreciate any input, hope you cannot tell how desperate I am

I totally agree with the first lin, however, I just had a revision done by him (initial surgery was in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Mexico...) plus he said that I had hernia and took care of it too. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Believe me, it is hard for me - financially but I feel I kind-a-owe him... Am I correct? -

First thanks for the quick response. You see, I just had a revision done by him (initial surgery was in Mexico...) plus he said that I had hernia and took care of it too. Believe me, it is hard for me too - financially but I feel I kind-a-owe him... Am I correct? -

Well, I think my doc would appreciate something for himself (if you know what I mean) and in addition, I need an idea for the PA that does my fills, anything? I don’t want to give them both the same thing. Normally I would buy a basket of chocolates, but I do want to be alive after my visit… BTW, do you guys buy anything at all? Thx. -

What Can Cause Band Slippage
anonymous_frnw replied to TheWatcher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Now I'm really scared, damage to your stomach? what does that mean? would the doc see this in the esophogram or only at time of surgery? also, if you don’t mind, can you tell me what the sleeve is all about or were to look for info - experience?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Thanks. -
<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Nancy - thanks for your thoughts and I appreciate you took time to response.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> want2beme - first I would say that it is not easier to hear that someone else is in the same situation. I'm so sorry you have to go thru this I’m having my surgery this week, although I gained 7lbs, I keep vomiting so I lost these few pounds, I'm completely unfilled, I cant eat anything solid, so I don’t really know whats better at this point – gain little weight or be able to eat something solid (which I could heve since my initial surgery). I found something very interesting, your doctor was Dr. Lopez Corvala as he was mine, do you see a pattern here perhaps? Will you have a revision done? my (local) doc said that the problem will NOT be fixed by liquids, so I hope you take care of yourself soon. Wishing you all the best, and please update me/us.

What Can Cause Band Slippage

Can anyone tell me their experience if they had a revision done because of slippage? My surgery is on Friday and I'm really worried.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Thanks. -

AThinerDenise:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I do not mean to scare you, I just don’t want you to waste money. Here is my story: I’m 7 months after surgery and lost some weight, however, it did not come easy to me… I do not remember having one meal and I mean even a cookie, without vomiting right after. I had an esophgram done at a location close to my work (so I did not have to take a day off) which came back ok. However, when I vomited even when my band was at 0cc, my doctor had me take the esophgram at his place (hospital) which detected a slippage. So, if I would have gone to the hospital immediately I would have saved at least 6 weeks of vomiting... please, take care of it. New Life New Times So you see, I have a surgery scheduled within two weeks. Here is my question: what is going on with you? did it fix itself? Should I wait and see if it will fix itself – my doc. Said it will not. Also, is this surgery like a regular LB surgery with five incisions, with the pain, gas, and all the other “good stuff”? if I chose to hold off on the surgery, how long can I live with a slippage before fixing it? How long do I need to be on liquid (before and after)? And, most important, what are the lesson learned that someone can tell me so this will not happen again? I appreciate any input and every advice I can get. -
I had my surgery in April. My ankles, both are NOW deciding to swell daily. When I wake up in the mornings, the swelling has gone down, at night time, they are like balloons. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Has anyone else ever had this problem? I never had this before. I went to my PCP, blood-pressure is low, went to a Vascular Doc, no clogs. What can it be from? I'd truly appreciate any input. Thanks.

Doc. Found Less Saline in the Port, Help!!

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Nancy,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Thanks for taking your time to respond. I took the test, it is as you described. Everything is ok, however, it does not check for leakage, so I will wait a little and maybe it will be good next time I go. -
I am so scared.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I was at the doctor's today for a n unfill and instead of finding 3cc he found only 2. He never had a problem with finding my port so he never poked twice. He sending me to do an esophagram, what is it? how different is I from fluoroscopy? Help, what can it be??? Has anyone experienced such a thing?

I had three fills so far: first was 1cc, then 1.25cc, which both did nothing for me.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> This week, I went to the doctor and he filled me up to 5cc which I couldn’t breathe, seriously, so he unfilled me and left 4cc. So, right now I can drink only small sips of water however, whatever I eat (even a yogurt) comes up (sorry for the graphics) which I don’t mind since I lost 6lbs in one week, which to me is great since I did not lose an ounce for the last five weeks. Anyway, my question is as follows: should I go for an un-fill, will the band wear-out if the food keeps coming up or I can keep it the way it is until I feel I need some food? Thanks in advance.

Is Too Much Fill - a Problem?
anonymous_frnw replied to anonymous_frnw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are just too nice, terrasmom. You see, for me not to be able to eat is a cause for celebration! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I'm happy to be on liquids as long as I lose weight. I had my surgery in April and lost only 9lbs since (10 weeks) this is why I was so excited when that happened. Obviously you're right and I’ll definitely go get the un-fill next week (one more week wont hurt, right?). Exercise is kind a difficult since I work F/T + I'm in school F/T however I will try to go, maybe weekends. Again, thanks for all of you for being so caring and you can definitely read and feel it between the lines... -

Is Too Much Fill - a Problem?
anonymous_frnw replied to anonymous_frnw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This was my problem, I ate right, ok, did not exercise, and did not lose anything for six weeks, I'm on Isopure right now so i get my nutrition, but I will definitely go next week (I have an appointment then) and get an un-fill. Thanks terrasmom. -

Misty, Great website and you look amazing. I have a question to you: I had my lap band surgery in April, 2008. I have to lose 65lbs. What do you say, can I go for lipo on my hips and arms? Thanks so much.
