I’m July 15! RNY

Getting my surgery date next week. Met with surgeon this week and went over all of my pre op appts/ testing. He said my blood work showed borderline anemia... just under normal with both iron and b12. I was hoping to choose RNY. But now hearing I’m at a higher risk for vitamin deficiency after.. should I consider sleeve instead? Has anyone been in a similar position? Did you still go through with bypass, and were you ok with just the regular amount of vitamins recommended?

Pre surgery bloodwork shows borderline anemia. Should I still go for RNY or switch to sleeve?

I have no GERD. But still chose rny for myself. This is where I’m second guessing myself... yesterday was my appt and I asked the surgeon about my blood work results. He said my iron and B12 was just under the normal numbers, and I shouldn’t worry about it. That it was a significant decreased level. But while I was driving home, I got a phone call from the surgeons assistant. He said he was looking at my chart and noticed I had low levels in my blood work. He initially thought I had already had surgery. When I corrected him, he said they have a new system and he’s getting used to it. He said in the meantime though I should start taking B12 and iron now then.... I should have asked more questions on the phone, but I was driving. But the surgeon had said I shouldn’t worry about it, and the surgeon assistant told me to go ahead and start taking vitamins and then also mentioned possibly needing transfusions and nasal spray afterwords if I do become anemic? Should I call? I think I only have my pre-surgery appointment left, not sure if that involves the surgeon again... -
I’m self pay. Insurance will pay for pre op appointments ( maybe depending on if your primary dr sends in referrals). I was also told insurance will cover and issues after if needed. But for a more accurate answer call your insurance and talk to the people at your surgeons office
