Unable to eat or drink band got too tight.
asbrown replied to Carramia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This has happened to me. I was sick for 3 months with sinus issues and the ENT doc told me I had acid reflux and that the reflux was causing sinus issues. Now, after a few weeks, I can't keep anything down. I can barely drink and can only eat maybe 2 bites and then I feel as if it's going to come back up (and usually does). I'm going to the doc on Wednesday. -
Maryland Lapband fills
asbrown replied to albertjhannan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi NaNa, I called Dr. Moazzez's office because his office is right around the corner from my office and the lady that answered said he doesn't fill patients who had their surgery in Mexico. -
I wondered about this same question. I usually don't drink more than a sip of Water to wash out my mouth while i'm eating but I heard that if we drink while we eat, we can create a "stopped up sink" effect in our belly. The food will fill the port hole and water has no-where to go but to sit on the top of your belly. So that's had me nervous to not push it to drink more than a sip of water. Anita

Love Them!! You must try the Black Bean Flavor Burger. My man and I put them in a pan, grill them and then add a couple of eggs, scramble it all up and put it on a tortilla. Yummy.... :hungry:

This exact problem is happening to me also. AND... I wear Secret!!! I can't believe I was just talking to my hubby about it and here it is. I've been wearing Secret for years and never had an issue until about 2 weeks ago..about 2 1/2 weeks into my band-life. Weird...I thought it was just me..time to switch. -
Hey Peps~ Well I've been out for awhile... Lost 18 pounds but the scale hasn't budged in over a week. On the constipation issue....milk of magnesia works GREAT!!:clap2: It didn't bloat me and worked it's way through my system within hours and without pain. A bypass friend of mine recommended it and I decided to pass it on. I read the posts about being cold...I was always cold prior to being banded and now I'm fine. It is not unusual for me to be a bit backwards. Doc says it's probably because i'm taking a Vitamin B complex.

Hey All~ Up and Down in how I feel. Some days are great while others are terrible. I noticed if I don't get enough water, I feel horrible. The left shoulder pain still comes when I drink or eat too much although I'm now able to eat more. Glad to know I'm not alone. Take Care,

I found this helpful info from a local Doc in my area....Hope it helps... http://www.alagsa.com/after_agb.html#main "Nibble AFTER you Dribble , or DO NOT EAT AND DRINK AT THE SAME TIME! Your old stomach was very large (think of a 2 liter Coke bottle). With that size and that shape, even if you filled yourself with solid food, you could still drink a glass of Water without problems. This is because a normal stomach has something called the "fast-track". liquids can (in a normal stomach) slip down the greater curvature curving around the solid food quickly to the pylorus and empty into the duodenum without much notice except maybe whirling the food a bit. After surgery, things are different. THERE IS NO FAST-TRACK FOR LIQUIDS. So, if you eat solid food, then drink, you may experience pain or vomiting or both. The longer you wait after meals before drinking, the better for two reasons. 1) You will avoid flushing out the stomach for longer periods of time and therefore avoid rapid hunger and 2)You will avoid the stopped up sink effect. So, DRIBBLE BEFORE YOU NIBBLE and DON"T DRIBBLE WHILE YOU NIBBLE and DON"T DRIBBLE JUST AFTER YOU NIBBLE. To avoid the Stopped-Up Sink effect, it is best to drink liquids during the hours just before you plan to eat. Imagine if you put a GLOB of pudding in your sink and then turned on the water. The water would back up and sit there in the sink before eventually going down once the pudding thinned out and decided to go down. If this were your stomach tube, that water would fill it, stretch it, back up in your throat, and cause pain discomfort, possible vomiting and other problems. Now do the opposite. Pour the water in first and then add the pudding. The water will go straight through. Walk away and wait 45-60 minutes and come back. The pudding will have gone down without all the problems associated with BACK UP. So NIBBLE AFTER you DRIBBLE to avoid the "sink effect" (Also known as the Glob effect)."

Oh I can totally relate to you. I try my best to clear my throat, drink something, anything to avoid coughing. It is your muscle that your port is attached to that is flexing everytime you cough and it hurts since it is not completely healed. My doc recommended that I "hold" that area every time I feel a cough coming.

180 WOW I would double-check that with your doc. 80 is more like it.

Dena, I went through the same type of recovery. It was little hard cause I had heard about people have such great recovery's that they were out shopping the next day. The pain in my shoulder now only comes when I eat too much. It's like my own personal warning system. "stop" you've eaten or drank enough....Is what it says to me cause if I keep going the pain goes down my shoulder to my hand and back.

A lack of B-12 is common especially amongst woman and vegetarians without bands. Mood swings, memory lose, tiredness are some of my common symptoms that I need a "boost" of B.

Didn't gain but my belly was huge like I was 9 months pregnant. Anita
