    How long off work?

I was banded on a Tuesday and went back to work the following Monday. I was VERY tired but it was too bad. I didn't leave the house until 5 days after surgery. I agree with previous posts, it wasn't that I was in pain, I was uncomfortable but I was exhausted. Good Luck!!

    Using Straws

The straw fills up with air when there is no Fluid in it. When you suck it for the drink to come up, the air goes in first. use the straw to stir the drink but still sip it as normal. That's what I'm planning... Good luck!
  3. So I started keeping a blog, more for me than for anyone else but I do like comments and feedback. I feel like it makes me more accountable or I can confess to to the world when I fall off track. Who keeps a blog or vlog? Why do you keep it? Post a link so we can follow! Here's a link to my blog... I'm not banded yet, but I will be! Banded Mommy

    Drinking while eating

I'm struggling with this one too! I was caught with a straw the other day, that's the first time since surgery that I forgot the no straw rule. I'm not sure how I'm gong to do the no drinking while eating rule. I'm going to try the glass of ice thing...

    Ibuprofen?

They sell Asprin free Excedrin. I'd stick with Liquid tylenol..that's what I've been using. I was told no whole pills for at least a month. I'm still crushing my meds..YUCK

2 weeks post op and no restriction

I'm two weeks post op today and officially moving into bandster hell! I'm hungry but sticking to the diet for the most part. I'm dying for chewable food! I want a salad! All you can do is your best! If you fall off, get up and back on!

    Gaining Weight on Pureed Food!

I've gain a pound back too...I just moved to pureed. I was just thinking of it as my body is holding on to food now wondering when i'm going to shock it with just liquids again!
  8. I can only take a few bites and then I feel like I'm overflowing. I was so looking forward to real food again and now I can't eat much of it. I guess that's good but so weird on the pschy!
  9. I thought I was hungry two days out too but you're really not. Everything just looks so good and savory while you're sipping this cold, sweet stuff! Keep the Protein flowing! Try a popsicle or jell-o to curb that head hunger. Good luck!
  10. I'm 10 days post-op tomorrow. I started to feel somewhat normal around day 6 or 7. Today I'm almost totally normal. It gets better everyday. As for gas pains? Until you can burp, it sucks. I finally got my burp back today. Take the Gas-x and walk...that's about all you can do. That and knowing that it does get better!
  11. YEA!!! WOO HOOOO...BBBBUUUURRRRPPPP!! I feel fantastic! I had to share. It's the one thing I haven't done since surgery...well little ones that didn't feel like much but these 2 really counted! I just feel more and more normal by the day!
  12. Can I puree egg salad? will it get smooth enough? I start pureed tomorrow (Thank GOD!) and I'm making stuff for lunch. I already pureed some cauliflower with cheese sauce, thinned with some chicken broth.

    Puree Question...Eggs

ok tried with Smart Balance Mayo..YUCK! I think I may have used too much mayo! I'm gong to try again, just waiting for the eggs. It def gets smooth enough

    issues with bread

You all are making me sad...I'll never eat bread again? I LOVE bread...probably what got me banded!

    Sleeping issue

I slept on my back sideish on the couch for the first 4 nights. After that I slept in bed on my side with a blanket propping me up. I have a VERY hard time sleeping on my back. The couch with pillows putting me more into a sitting position is the only way I can really do it. I hope that helps! Good Luck !

    is this pain normal?

I had and have all sorts of weird pains and I'm almost 10 days post op. Any pain around the port area I pass off as port pain. Any pain just below my breast bone I call band pain. Any other pain I'm calling gas! I have named my band, her name is Frita Bandita. Sometimes Frita gets crabby and pinchs me to let me know she's there.
  17. I completely agree!! I'm in the same boat...I'm 5 foot 4 and a half!
  18. I'm just wondering, are there people out there who have never had a stuck episode?
  19. So I work as a sales assistant kind of thing. I do contract compliance analysis and all this crap but I work alot with sales guys. One of them is in the office today and brought me donuts. What do I do? I don't want to be rude and not eat them and I'm not telling many work people about my surgery. HELP! Do I chew one and spit it out? I really appreciate the donuts...I think it's sweet (pun) but I'm still on liquids!!

    just banded last wednesday

YUP! Same thing with me. I put ice in my Protein shakes now. Not only does it make them super cold and more tolerable but the ice melts and I get some Water in! You will be able to "eat" more and more each day. I just noticed yesterday that I finished a whole 6 oz yogurt in less than 15 minutes! That hasn't happened since before surgery!

    People are just Rude!

My partners mom was describing a woman one time and talking about how fat she was and said "I mean, Michele, she's bigger than you!" She didn't even realize how rude it was until my partner called her later in the evening after we left. My partner and her mom both have a "filter" problem but that comment was just mean! It was more than 2 years ago that she said it and I still can't let it go. How awful is it that someone can burn something so hurtful into your memory.
  22. I'm still a baby bandster. I am officially one week post of, today! I went back to work yesterday for almost a full day but had my post op follow up appointment so I had to leave a bit early. Anyway I just wanted to tell you all how AWESOME the band is so far! I have lost...Are you ready for this....14 pounds since surgery! 14 pounds!!! I won't lie and say I had no pain, there was pain. I won't lie and say I haven't been hungry. I've been hungry. But 14 pounds is totally worth it! Good Luck!

    Scale!

I'm with you..I weigh myself everyday. I actually had my partner hide the scale so I wouldn't do it so often. that was when I was dieting before. This time, I'm losing so quick that it's ok for it to be there, for now. I think I'd go crazy without a scale and having to wait to see how much I lost! I was banded the same day as you and I'm down 15 pounds...I wouldn't know that without the scale!!
  24. Does anyone else stomach growl? Mine is constantly growling, like when you're hungry. If I have a Protein shake or pudding or a yogurt it stops for awhile. Anyone else have this post op? Does it stop when I get to solider foods?
  25. I know throwing up right after being banded is bad but what about hiccups? I've gotten them at least 5 times today. Just a couple hiccups at a time but they can be pretty painful. I'm thinking this can't be good. Any input?
