  1. Thank you so much for your kind words. Looking forward to a healthier 2019. I'm grateful to be on only 2 of the 4 blood pressure meds.that I took prior to surgery. That was a gift in itself!
  2. I'll be cheering for you!

    Protein after 5 weeks

Yay! I will try that. Love spinach!

    Protein after 5 weeks

Oooooooh I like that ricotta cheese suggestion-sounds really good! Thanks!

    Protein after 5 weeks

The beans are a good option. I do eggs. Completely forgot about that. They said tuna is OK but no canned chicken. Have no idea why but they did specify that. I actually like canned chicken and hate tuna. Don't like anything really fishy so have gone with Haddock and cod. You are right-only for a short period and I will keep that in mind.
  6. My Dr. lists only fish, tuna (YUCK!) and cottage cheese as proteins at this point. Any suggestions for other proteins? Liquid calories aren't allowed any longer.

Numbness in Outer Right Thigh After Surgery

I have the same issue and when I'm sitting for a while (like when I watch a TV show) a heating pad works great. After surgery I was actually afraid I had a blood clot but they did an ultra sound and all was good. She also said a blood clot wouldn't be on the outside of my thigh but in the deep veins on the inside of the leg. Try the heating pad.
  8. All of you make such good points. I am grateful that I'm not dealing with the complications listed above. I'm so sorry Frustr8 is going through such a terrible time. I was not given directions from the Dr. regarding carbs last and protein first but that is a good suggestion. I do try to eat the veggies and protein often but the proteins are so limited at this point. Jazzy you are doing great! Andrea-you are so sweet. Thank you all for responding.
  9. Thank you for your encouraging words. I keep telling myself that. Keeping measurements is a good idea. I will definitely try that.
  10. I'm really worried that I went through all of this for nothing. I had surgery at the end of Nov., had a nice weight loss of about 25 lbs and now it has stopped. Nothing for weeks. I eat so little, cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast, veggies for lunch, fish for dinner-this is very discouraging.

    post op. discomfort

Thanks for the responses. Who knew Christmas wrapping would be painful-Haha!
  12. My surgeon only makes us do the liquid diet three days prior to the surgery but it is "strictly" liquid on those days. I had Thanksgiving dinner four days before my surgery.

When do you start losing weight?

You will! The more you move the more you will notice the change. I'm 2 1/2 weeks and as long as I don't just sit the entire day-it goes down daily.
  14. I had surgery two weeks ago this past Monday. Have been feeling feeling better everyday but today made the mistake of wrapping Christmas presents for a few hours. I think it put a strain on my stomach muscles that I didn't expect and now I'm pretty sore. Has anyone had a similar experience?
