But the pre-op diet isn't really that different from the post-op diet, depending on what your surgeon has you do. It's easy to be disciplined for just two weeks and you'll need to be disciplined and follow a plan for the rest of your life. You've got this, you can do it.

Hoping you get some relief from the gas pains. Walking really is the best thing for them if you can force yourself to do it. Maybe it you get upright to walk it'll help you pee.
-
Ugh, squats, but okay I know I need to do them. You're on!

I guess that they aren't thinking about it being borderline, just looking for anything out of range. You should probably remind them of your lab results during your appointment

weird question
GradyCat replied to Mariella Josphef's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The "foamies" are when you eat something that you're not ready for and you throw up, but you don't throw up food, you throw up foam and mucus and your stomach tightens and cramps up and you know right away that you shouldn't have eaten it. -
Maybe it's because you've already been through this twice and they want to make sure you're best equipped for this procedure to be effective.

weird question
GradyCat replied to Mariella Josphef's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first time I got what we call "the foamies" was after eating a soft taco in a Mexican Restaurant. Five and a half months post-op I still can't eat a soft tortilla because my body won't tolerate it. Other than that, you did no harm to yourself, so don't worry. -
I am having a hard time getting my daily 80 gram of protein
GradyCat replied to Brotherman Bill's topic in Food and Nutrition
I still drink a protein shake for breakfast each morning because it's easy and it's 25 or 30 g of protein depending on which shake I drink (GNC Lean Shake 25 g protein; Atkins Plus shake 30 g protein) so that's already have my daily goal right there. Then I eat ham and cheese wraps (no bread) for lunch, and I sometimes make "fudge" out of protein powder and peanut butter, so there's more protein. Your body needs it. -
I buy mine from GNC. Vitamin D, MultiVitamin, B12, and Calcium, all in soft chews

eating after one week of Gastric sleeve

Just because you CAN eat something doesn't mean you should. Why did you even try? Stick to your nutrition plan. Focus on protein. -
Taste changes or food sensitivities after surgery
GradyCat replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know that my tastes have changed so much, but I find myself not wanting "bad" food anymore like pizza, pasta, cake, etc. That's a good thing! -
Scared but my new beginning!

What's In Your Hospital Bag?
GradyCat replied to d258's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You won't need much. I didn't end up needing pajamas. I did use chapstick, toothbrush, toothpaste, and hand lotion. -
Seeking Nutritional Advice 🍎
GradyCat replied to Ruby Hernandez's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm not doing pasta until I reach my goal weight and then only sparingly on rare occasion. I think condiments are okay, just be aware of how much sugar they have in them. Steak sauce and BBQ sauces are often loaded with sugar. Try to stick to protein most of the time. -
It's okay, it gets better. Just breathe. And drink. You don't want to get dehydrated.
-
It's good it worked out for you. I love my surgeon too, she was great.

That's so funny that you mention this because on Friday I went out and bought some Atkins Plus protein shakes because they have 30 g of protein (my GNC ones has 25 g) and 7 g of fiber (my GNC ones have 3 g of fiber) and wanted to see if the extra fiber was beneficial. I don't know the results yet as I've only tried one shake so far.

I took a cruise two months post-op surgery and I also have a Carnival cruise in June of 2020. Are we doing on the same one? LOL! I made sure to purchase bottled water onboard the ship to take with me on excursions. I also had packed almonds, protein bars, and protein chips and took them on excursions with me to have something healthy and protein to eat if I got hungry. I also took protein powder to mix with water in case I needed a protein shake one day, but I never ended up using it. I had thought about the premade protein shakes and packing them, but they're so heavy and I have to fly to the cruise port, so I couldn't take that weight in my luggage.

Obsessing about weight loss/ or lack thereof and adjusting after surgery
GradyCat replied to Tiffany L.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can totally relate to this. I am sometimes obsessed with my weight and the scale and it plays those little games of going up and down 2 pounds without rhyme or reason. Just hang in there and eat your 6- ox of protein a day and get in your 64 oz of water and stay away from carbs and you'll be fine. -
Pre-op and post-op prep!! List style
GradyCat replied to shellyk018's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sugar-free popsicles. Chapstick. Puzzles to read and do while you're healing. -
I'm so sorry you're having pain. I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have any pain at all. Be sure you get your fluids in, you don't want to dehydrate and have to be hospitalized. Take care.

Way to go! You can do it!

When can I sleep on my stomach?
GradyCat replied to Aproactiveme's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Two nights.
