Weight loss expectations VSG to RNY??
GradyCat replied to mi75's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I like your question as it applies to me as well and I look forward to seeing responses to let us both know this information. -
Yes, you can eat out after surgery
GradyCat replied to lizonaplane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We eat out lunch at least 5 days a week. I just make good choices. -
Immediately post-op I needed protein shakes and sugar-free popsicles on hand.

Does it feel like it's distended? It is warm to the touch?
-
Thanks for the links. I am never hungry but I eat when I'm bored.

An option for Hair Loss/Thinning Hair (for the pain-tolerant!)
GradyCat replied to ms.sss's topic in The Lounge
This is very interesting. I have tattooed eyebrows because I lost most of them and they were thin to begin with. I've had thin hair problems all my life (anemia, thyroid, bad luck). -
I'll still get them if I eat something my stomach doesn't like, even 3 years post WLS (sleeve). My stomach doesn't like tortilla wraps, potatoes, or pasta.

Secondary insurance covered; primary - no
GradyCat replied to hollywrites2u's topic in Insurance & Financing
I used to be an insurance adjuster, so I know a little bit about this. Secondary won't pay anything that primary doesn't cover. They just prorate the underlying coverage. -
No regrets here. My only barrier was myself. The sleeve still works when I don't screw up.

Dumping Symptoms More Than A Day Later?
GradyCat replied to camperfour's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's not dumping. That's overcarbing. It'll pass with time. -
Interesting. Good to know.
-
That's interesting how each person is different. Yeah, yours is slightly different from average, but I guess you'll have to adjust for that with your mental willpower. Good luck on your continued WLS journey.

My hunger is back and I’m gaining.
GradyCat replied to ShoppGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The struggle is real. I remember when I had the WLS thinking, "What dummy would eat crap again and gain weight after this?" Well, I'm that dummy. It happens. We just have to refocus on the basics again. -
Been there, done that, still there. I gained 30 pounds back during COVID but the good news is I just recently re-lost them. So there IS hope and the WLS still is a tool to use. Don't feel defeated.

Want to be a part of this site
GradyCat replied to thinblueline's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's not a clique but it's not a bunch of teenagers chatting either. We generally post a topic and people respond if it relates to them. It's different from other social media. -
Cancelled surgery, Cant give up my pizza
GradyCat replied to liveaboard15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, I was about to say, "What the hell?" Funny! -
What's an 1199?

No, I didn't do my sleeve there, but I wanted to say hi because I spent 4 days in Singapore in 2016 and loved it.

Eating carbs (pasta, rice, or bread )
GradyCat replied to New_me_2022's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Three years post-sleeve here and my body still doesn't like tortillas and I can only have a forkful or a single spoonful or potatoes, rice, or carbs. -
Congratulations! What a great feeling.

What was your "this is it" moment
GradyCat replied to jamaro2795's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I decided after a trip when I felt too big for the airline seat and was breathless walking through the terminal. -
Hmmm, tried a lot of the sugar-free stuff and if it contains malitol it makes me have diarrhea. I am eating high-protein sweet snacks lately like Kodiak Bear Bites (graham crackers)

Depressed and Sad ..8 months post op stalled and not moving ahead.
GradyCat replied to TheBusierBee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
First focus on the great success that you've had. You've done well. Next, think about how this is going to be for YOU (while I realize it effects your kids too and you said you want to do this for your kids, do it for YOU!). Now, get back to the basics like right when you had the surgery, counting calories, protein, and macros, drinking your water, not drinking while eating, etc. It'll jump-start you back to losing again. -
It depends on what the results say and whether or not they'd impact your surgery in any way. Mostly it won't just pop up in your bariatric surgeon's screen but he/she can see most records from any and all of your doctors and labs in the system, so you should know that if for some reason you're trying to hide the results.
