Oh, Dr. Tanner is in the same office. My surgeon was Dr. Sweeney. -
inches instead of pounds?
GradyCat replied to Betty1971's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So true, we need these Non-Scale Victories (NSV) and ways to measure our progress other than the scale. -

I use Tervis. They come with or without straws. Hing lids or screw lids. -

Sleeve Surgery was on 12/17 and Ready For My Two Weeks and Soft Foods!
GradyCat replied to sporters's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never did the puree stage, just went from liquids to easy to digest foods, I guess soft foods. Be careful with the beans and gas (carbs). Otherwise, enjoy food once again! -
Congrats on your WLS journey and take good care of yourself through the holidays. This will be the best decision you could have made for your health.

Have you tried sugar-free popsicles? They come in a variety of flavors and give you a "crunch" instead of just plain liquid. It really is head hunger. And you're thinking about missing Christmas foods, celebrations, etc. It's natural. But this too shall pass. Sugar-free jello counts as "liquid" as does sugar-free pudding.

Way to go! Congrats!

Surgery on 12/14 - Post operative health anxiety
GradyCat replied to Tinylionuk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Having Depression and Anxiety too, I know what it's like to throw your life a curveball and all of the anxiety. Hang in there. Your body is releasing hormones from the surgery. Keep taking your antidepressants. -
Good luck on your WLS Journey. Try some sugar-free popsicles too, they will help you add a variety of flavors and also give you something to crunch on

Serious Teeth problems after gastric bypass several years ago???
GradyCat replied to Grammie2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My friend has gastric bypass and his teeth are awful now (they weren't before surgery) but I haven't asked him about it -
That's GREAT! Keep up the good work.

Brand New here... A few questions before surgery!
GradyCat replied to lakrystashayshay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2) For those that have done a gastric sleeve, how long was it before you could lift weights again? At least 60 days to allow time for the incisions to heal. 3) This one is a little more out there, but has anyone that has had this surgery (or others) been allergic to the anesthesia medicine? I am allergic to EVERYTHING but thankfully not any of the anesthesia yet, but yes, you are correct that the hospital with the anesthesiologist would be the best place to be if you're going to have a reaction. -
I can’t eat right and drink enough water.

Try flavored water (Crystal Light, etc) or some Gatorade to stay hydrated. -
2 months post - Chest and shoulder pain
GradyCat replied to Lilfootie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Could it be GERD? That gives shoulder/chest pain too. -
Any advice on the per op diet?
GradyCat replied to Navi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone worries before the surgery. Is it going to work? Am I going to die? Normal worries. Get some sugar free popsicles to help you through the liquid diet. They provide something to crunch on instead of just liquid. -
You're getting sugar withdrawals probably. Hang in there. You can do it!
-
sugar-free popsicles will give you the crunch you need and still be liquid.

Difficulty with injections because of loose skin
GradyCat replied to LaLaDee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could you inject it into your thigh instead? Tighter skin there? -
Calories intake 2 months post op gastric sleeve
GradyCat replied to orizagami's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, that's too few calories. Aim for 500-800 day and be sure to get your 60-70g of protein in -
Stall, hair loss and other changes (warning, TMI)
GradyCat replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What about ham and cheese or eggs or something other than protein shakes to add some protein to your daily count? -
That is FANTASTIC!

Had gastric bypass on Oct 28. Got ulcers. I'm not even eating but I have gained 2 pounds. Haven't lost a pound in 2 weeks. REALLY FRUSTRATED. 🤬
GradyCat replied to NeverAgain297's topic in Food and Nutrition
You're not eating enough. Trust me, it's true. Plus you've probably encountered a stall, which might take a couple of weeks to get over and you'll always have fluctuating water levels, so don't sweat the 2 lbs and keep following the program. Eat some more! -
It's not time for hard foods yet, so I wouldn't try the pickle. Do you want the crunch or could you just drink some of the juice? It honestly never bothered me when my husband ate food and I couldn't have any. I thought the smell would bother me, but it didn't. I just did what I had to do.
