I'm two years post-op and I still drink one protein shake every day for breakfast. It's just too early for me to eat real food like eggs or something and I like the chocolate taste. I use GNC Lean Shakes, premade.
-
Easy peasy. Medicare paid for mine. It took about 2 weeks for approval. I had BMI 40 + 2 comorbidities.
-
Yeah, sip, sip, sip is the most important thing. A few sips here, a few sips there. No gulping. No straws. No drinking 1/2 hour before or after or during meals. Otherwise, staying hydrated is a good thing.
-
I don't know what causes that, but it sounds like a good thing. You won't overeat if you don't like the taste. Steers you toward protein options. I dunno.
-
1/4 cup at first, then 1/2 cup later on.
-
Yes, I think we can all relate and have all gone through those exact same emotions pre-op. Congrats on getting your surgery date scheduled. Welcome to the forums. Good luck on your WLS journey and keep us posted.

You gotta stay hydrated. Put some flavored powder like Crystal Lite in it, it comes in various flavors. I buy the sugar free generic Kroger brand of peach tea and it's wonderful stuff, otherwise I cannot stomach plain water and wouldn't drink enough. I drink 12 8-0z glasses a day.

Just had surgery on 12/15
GradyCat replied to Lolalita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At this stage you should be eating no more than 1/4 of a cup at a time, but you can eat it several times a day. Sip your liquids slowly all day long, a little at a time. You were sick after surgery because of the anesthesia. You'll be okay now. It's highly unlikely that you're going to eat too much. Your stomach tells you when it's full, and it gets full pretty quickly with very little food. Measure your food. Trust the process. -
Non Dairy Protein
GradyCat replied to Midearsweetheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Plant based? As in you don't do meat? And no eggs? Hmmmm. Tofu is protein, right? Bone broth too meaty/non-vegan? You've stumped me. Nothing comes to mind. For the weight loss phase post-op or the soft foods phase post-op? I found a helpful article for you. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321474#15-best-vegan-proteins -
Got my surgery date. Any January bypass surgeries??
GradyCat replied to healthy and fit @ 60's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congrats on getting your surgery date. That's such a big step, isn't it, getting it nailed down and making it real? Good luck on your WLS journey and keep us posted. -
ChubRub's Plastic Surgery Thread
GradyCat replied to ChubRub's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks for sharing the details and info with us. I don't personally know anyone whose had plastics, so this is all very new and interesting to me. -
Protein Problems in Purée Stage
GradyCat replied to RTL1234's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I sipped, sipped, sipped on protein shakes all day long in the puree stage, hardly putting in any real food at all. It was comforting, tasty, satisfying and got in my protein requirements. -
Feeling lethargic post surgery
GradyCat replied to SassySonz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's odd given it's been 7 weeks since surgery. Could it be the colder winter weather and so many ours of darkness? Could it be Seasonal Affective Disorder? How's your mood? -
Whenever I "feel" hungry and I'm not sure if it's real hunger or not, I first start with drinking more water, or here during Winter a hot coffee with sugar-free flavored syrup in it. If that soothes the feeling, then it wasn't really hunger and I'm good. If it doesn't, and it does 99% of the time, I eat a handful of almonds or something small just to make the feeling go away.

You can't hide from the stall!

You can't hide from the stall! 😀 -
I don't have an Instagram account, but I just wanted to say GREAT JOB, you are beautiful!
-
I don't like the fruity or food-flavored ones as they do tend to make me want to eat, so I stick with plain unflavored. My new favorite is an exfoliating lip balm. It's Revlon Kiss.

It might have been a month, but we shared intimacy other than intercourse too, so we didn't lose that connection.

What do you know now, you wish you knew pre-op?
GradyCat replied to BypaSSSed's topic in The Gals' Room
I wish I had realized how important the first year was to push it for all it was worth staying at 600-800 calories and maximizing exercise and workouts. Two years later it's just harder to get the same results. -
Oh that's such a shame. How long has it been? A few weeks? A few months? Browse through the forums and you'll see info from people at every stage of the process and maybe you'll find something that will help you with your WLS journey. Take care.

I'm just using regular Avon moisturizer and Avon Vitamin C serum twice a day on face and neck. No sagging yet.
-
Oh man, looks like I missed out/just reading this. I hope they do it again next year.
-
That's a GREAT playlist! I didn't know they could be shared/collaborative.
-
I don't know how old you are but there are free fitness workouts on AARP and Silver Sneakers websites.

I gained 10-12. Just now working on exercising again (can't go to gym) by dancing around house and walking around house and JUST MOVING! Gone back to basics with eating 600-800 calories/day. Working great so far. Back on track for 2021.
