Tingling Left Leg

Did you use the things during your hospital stay that pumped your feet to keep the circulation going and prevent a clot? -
Day 10 Post Op and It's Not What I Expected.
GradyCat replied to ANewJourneyAwaits's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're not going to stretch your stomach with water. And it would take A LOT, we're talking constant gluttony to stretch your stomach. I asked my surgeon about it and she said it is really hard to stretch your stomach. So put those fears behind you. It's okay that you're drinking a lot. When you start eating, just watch your portion sizes. Just because you CAN eat more doesn't mean you SHOULD. -
Thank you for your honest sharing. It will help many here. It's a struggle and so much of our eating problems are emotional and mental health related (boredom, stress, anxiety, depression, worry) that counseling really helps.

I wear full size briefs and the only ones that seem to fit me correctly at Cacique brand, which I buy at Lane Bryant.

My surgeon submitted dates for October or November to get the approval, but her schedule wasn't available until December, so once they got approval they just adjusted the dates to fit the surgeon's scheduled surgery.

Help! Gross & Gassy (Warning: I describe in detail)
GradyCat replied to kc892020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's only natural when you eat cruciferous vegetables. -
Walk it off. You still have air/anesthesia in you. It'll pass . . . literally. 😀 This isn't a permanent thing.

That's an interesting question. I had never thought about there being more bariatric sites out there. This one was listed in the literature as helpful resources at my surgeon's office, so that's how I found out about it.

Skin/Red Face 11 days post op
GradyCat replied to rachelblank1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Somebody else in the last two weeks called it "sleeve blush" and said her surgeon's office told her it was semi-common. I had never heard of it before. I don't think it's anything to worry about, probably just annoying, but you can check with your doctor tomorrow for sure. I never had it. -
That's a wonderful NSV! I was so glad to get out of XXL and XL.

How long did your stalls last?
GradyCat replied to Horseshowmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They last approximately on average two weeks. Sometimes you can break a longer one by mixing it up with higher calories/lower calories/fasting to shock your body but at this stage you should just wait yours out. They're inevitable. -
On a similar subject, I used to be low in Vitamin D and post WLS they had me taking a Vit D supplement plus a multivitamin and a couple of other supplements. Fast forward two years later and I an super high in Vitamin D and my primary wants me to stop taking all vitamins and supplements for six months to see if it's them or me.

I've never been on a site with a shopping algorhythym or one that thinks its knows my size. What if you were buying something for someone else? It should give you freedom of choice. That's weird.

No excuses, but I gained 10 pounds in 2020. COVID didn't help. Tracking my daily calorie intake backfired because the app said I needed 1200 calories/day but I really didn't. It doesn't take into account that bariatric patients have different needs. And oh I ate so much chocolate and cookies the last two weeks of the Christmas holidays. So I decided that instead of waiting for the new year, I would get back on track starting the day after Christmas, Saturday 12/26/2020. Saturday I had 670 calories and Sunday I had 720 calories. Easy peasy. No problems, no withdrawals, no cravings. I got in a 10 minute walk on Sunday and already a 20 minute walk in today (Monday). I'm feeling really good that I can follow the program like my nutritionist advised me, even though apparently for 9 months I haven't been on track. It's never too late to get healthy again. My doctor's office doesn't "count calories." Instead they focus on the macros of protein and water and portion sizes of 1/2 cup. That's all I'm going to worry about now. So I'm going to get back to basics and take that approach again and get not only these 10 regained pounds off, but hopefully 10 more to boot! I feel confident for the first time in a long time. It's a wonderful feeling. No "New Years Resolution" for me . . . just a return to the basics and a positive attitude.

It's only been 12 days. 10 pounds in 12 days is GREAT! What were you expecting? You're not feeling hungry, and that was the whole point, so that's a good thing. Give yourself time to adjust.

Out with the old (food)...
GradyCat replied to BigSue's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Throw it out, like Neller said, you already paid for it, so the money's already spent and you don't need it tempting you. I remember giving some away to family and friends just by saying, "I've started a diet and don't want this in the house anymore and thought you could use it." -
It's definitely the BREAD! I can't eat an Arby's sandwich or really ANY sandwich anymore. I just eat the meat or insides and throw away the bun. It "sticks" or something and I get what we call here in the forums "the foamies" where you throw up mucus (not food) and you feel totally full and choking. Your body is trying to tell you that you can't eat that food anymore.

Welcome to the forums. This is the best decision you could have made and you have a wonderful healthier life to look forward to. I like your name. Mine is very similar (Rehmet). Good luck on your WLS journey and keep us posted with your progress. -
Yours is less than a week away now. How are you doing on the pre-op diet? Good luck on your WLS journey and keep us posted with your progress.

5 mths post op- can’t eat More than 2 bites
GradyCat replied to breezylosesit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That sounds like an awfully long time to only be able to eat that amount. Have you talked to your doctor? Certain foods will disagree with your new pouch (I still can't eat steak or potatoes or pasta) but you should be able to eat more than a couple of bites at this point.
