Week since surgery, down 11lbs, 50 overall. & What I have learned.
GradyCat replied to FINFAN3DP's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, those tv food ads initiate your "head hunger" to salivate over their food. And yes, you have to sip, sip, sip all day long to get your fluids in. -
Solids sitting in my throat
GradyCat replied to KellyMarie8288's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, it's probably a sign that you're putting too much in or it's the type of food your stomach isn't ready for. I still can't eat dense food like steak or pork chops. -
I'm 2 years post-op as well and didn't quite reach goal, then COVID didn't help, so I too am going to try to get a video appt with the dietician to get back on track. Congrats on your tremendous weight loss so far.

Skinny vanilla latte.

All you'll need for the overnight stay is: (1) cell phone and charger (2) lip balm (3) toothbrush, toothpaste, comb/brush Don't bring pajamas because you won't be able to change into them with the IV and monitors attached to you. You don't need a heating pad. You won't need underwear compression.

Oh the dreaded belly fat! That's a tough one. No good answer here.

Insurance ended in middle of process/will Medicaid pickup or make me start over again ?
GradyCat replied to Pixxidust's topic in Insurance & Financing
I had this exact same thing happen. I started the process under regular commercial insurance. Then during the process I became disabled and switched to Medicare. Medicare covers weight loss surgery and picked right up without a hitch, not making me jump through any additional hoops. -
Welcome and best of luck on your WLS journey. There is TONS of good information in these forums, from diets, to surgeries to vitamins, hair loss, plastic surgery, etc. Take time to browse through some of the discussion threads.

No Insurance coverage for weight loss surgery.
GradyCat replied to Adermyer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No, the insurance company doesn't have to cover it if the employer didn't choose that option on their plan. -
Trash Article- Venting.
GradyCat replied to KellyMarie8288's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh yes I see, everything points at "you" being the problem. Shameful. -
Have you asked your surgeon's office about it? Are you still doing f/u visits with them? What amount of calories are you eating?

Good question. I don't want my boobs bigger, but I sure would like to look like boobs again and be up high and perky.

All programs and policies vary. Some require six months supervised diet, meaning you check in and weigh/chart progress/get feedback at least once every month (6 times).

I was taking that much every day but now my primary doctor says I have too much Vitamin D and I had to quit taking it.

What to say to the psychiatrist
GradyCat replied to Jennie4315's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just be honest. Admit your fears and past mistakes with weight. They'll want to know if your expectations area realistic. They'll ask if you have a support/encourage network of people to surround you. -
Stick with the vitamins. Add Biotin.

That's weird. You didn't have COVID did you? Hubby had COVID and lost taste and smell quite a bit.

1. Stalling is normal and inevitable. It will happen at Week 3 or 4 for sure and then sporadically throughout your weight loss. It's the time when your body is adjusting. 2. Not all surgeons agree about coffee. Mine didn't limit me/restrict me. Plus I drink decaf. 3. Alcohol probably within 8 weeks post-op.

Returning to work and how to deal with questioning coworkers...?
GradyCat replied to GMS1213's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd say "I've been sick and lost some weight" -

Can you gently tell them that you do better alone and will ask for help if you need it? -
More restriction after PS?
GradyCat replied to kristieshannon's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Absolutely, it's a wonderful thing!
