So one key is to take tiny little sips all throughout the day. And you're not using a straw, are you? No straws! You don't want excess gas getting in there. Keep in mind too that they filled your stomach full of gas to have the surgery and it takes a while to work its way out.

That's St. Patricks' Day. Be sure to wear green. Your family and friends will be green with envy at your results! 😁

Please Tell Me This Gets Better
GradyCat replied to Luvmybrats0509's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It gets better, it really does. -
I am able to meet my protein goals with real foods, but I just so happen to really like GNC Lean Protein shakes in chocolate flavor (25g protein) so I have continued to drink them for breakfast because they're easy and taste good.

Are you sure that surgery date is correct? It's a Saturday. Make sure you follow all pre-op appointments and requirements.

It's a little high in carbs and sugar. Here's a site where foods are "graded" for healthiness. Fooducate

Sip, sip, sip all day long. Don't try to gulp down 4 oz at a time. Also, try adding lemon or a sugar-free flavored water enhancer to give it some flavor and it won't feel so boring. They come in 20+ different flavors and range from Crystal Light to Kroger, to Great Value (Wal-Mart) to Mio.

Struggling with eating and water intake
GradyCat replied to Angelica Pena's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's easier to get the daily water requirement in if you add a sugar-free flavor enhancer like Crystal Light or even the Kroger or Wal-Mart versions of powder or liquid flavor water enhancers. I use the Peach Tea flavor from Kroger. Also, the sugar-free popsicles count as water, you know. -
Got my surgery date! Suddenly scared...
GradyCat replied to greenwitch17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's perfectly normal to be a little worried. If you weren't, we'd worry about you. 😁 Any surgery comes with risks but these are tried and true procedures that millions of people have undergone, so feel comfortable that they've got it down to a science. Post-op just keep remembering what made you want to have the WLS surgery in the first place and it'll keep you focused and successful. -
You can eat riced vegetables and make pasta out of zucchini. I do try to limit my carbs, although I found that completely cutting them out was not good either. Moderation is the key as they say.

That's wonderful. You're definitely a witty warrior! The VSG is a tool or weapon to help you fight the enemy of sugar, doughnuts, chips, and junk food. You're winning! Way to go! -
Weight Loss NEW YEAR!! NEW YOU!!!
GradyCat replied to isaac_277's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Jermaine and welcome to the site. -
Welcome to the site, Crystal, and good luck on your upcoming surgery. You might want to start to experiment with vitamins and supplements now to get used to taking them, but some people report not tolerating them as well after the surgery, so you might want to save your money until you know what you're going to like post-op. My surgeon had me taking Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, and Calcium as well as a Multi-Vitamin. I got soft-chews in flavors at GNC. They're more pricey, but they settled better on my stomach than tablets.

Issues after surgery! Kinda regretting it
GradyCat replied to Sweetiepie85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You definitely need to talk to your surgeon just to make sure. But the white foam is what we call here "the foamies" and it happens when you eat too much at one time or if you eat something your new stomach doesn't like. For example, I'm 3 year post-sleeve but still can't eat soft tortillas or bread or pork chops because of the density/texture. My stomach rejects those items. -
Tracking your food intake is definitely important to continue to monitor what you're eating. It sounds like you're eatin out of boredom. Does your surgeon's office offer post-surgical counseling to help you deal with that? Never fear, though, your surgery was successful and you still have the tools you need to lose more weight and keep it off. Try to get your family on-board to support you, but ultimately it's up to you.

I never had any pain post-surgery, so never took anything for pain, whether liquid or tablet . But, I started taking my oral prescription medications as soon as I was discharged from the hospital without any issues.

Good for you! I gained back into the 200's with COVID and hope to be back in ONEderland by the end of January.

That's totally a great point, we reach out for support and advice and to refocus on what works.

2021 Wrap up- Who's planning to refocus in 2022?
GradyCat replied to mi75's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Yes, I'm bouncing back and refocusing. I gained some COVID weight in 2020 and 2021 and was embarrassed so I haven't been on this site, but I started doing Keto/Carnivore in September and lost all the COVID weight by Thanksgiving. The Carnivore diet was successful but was giving me chronic diarrhea so I switched in mid-December to Weight Watchers' new Personal Points program. Evidently I needed a few carbs to make things function properly. It's going well, I'm not losing weight as fast yet, but I haven't gained any. Focusing back on why I had the WLS in the first place and on my original goal weight for 2022. It's never too late to be healthy. -
I don't generally care what people say but if they say, "You didn't eat much" or something, I'll make a joke out of it and say, "Well, I don't eat much, but I eat often!" 😀

I hit goal today!

Joining Weight Watchers after Gastric Sleeve surgery.
GradyCat replied to calicakes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just joined it yesterday, the Digital-only version. I was doing fine until COVID, then gained some weight 20+ pounds and I finally just got it off but I think the "extreme" diet I was on didn't set well with my health, so I thought I'd try something more balanced, normal, and healthy. I have my concerns/fears/doubts, but I'll give it a try. I'm still trying to navigate the whole "Personal Points" thing. I wish you great success. -
I never noticed this before having WLS two years ago, but now no matter what I eat, whether it's spicy or bland or a little or a lot my nose runs constantly while I eat. When I stop eating the nose stops running. Now that I think about it, it doesn't seem to happen when I eat cold food, just hot food. And I'm not over-eating and am sticking to proper portion sizes. For instance, I just ate 5 microwaved pieces of pepperoni and my nose ran constantly. I'm done eating now and my nose isn't running anymore. I searched online and it says allergic rhinitis is a possible culprit. Has anybody else experienced this after having weight loss surgery that they didn't have before? Why does your nose run Everytime you eat? A person's nose might run after eating if they have allergic Rhinitis Inflammation and irritation of the mucous membrane of the nose. caused by a food allergy. A person may experience a runny nose and other symptoms either after eating a particular kind of food or, in some cases, after eating any food. A runny nose may be accompanied by the following symptoms: a stuffy, congested feeling in the nose

You're going to get a chuckle out of this but I've had to start getting my husband to hide the scale from me. I was weighing daily and water/fluid and daily fluctuations were discouraging me, so he encouraged me to just way once a week, on Monday mornings. I couldn't resist looking every day, so he finally had to hide the scale from me from Monday after I weighed in until the next Monday morning so I wouldn't obsess about it. How often do you find yourself weighing?
