I did! And I just got my 10,000 steps in! Woot-Woot! And I used soup cans for weights. I crack myself up!

What do non-cooks eat in the 4th month?
GradyCat replied to Amy Braun's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm not much on cooking either. We eat out lunch every day for something social to do and I've been getting a salad with grilled chicken on it (protein) and I still drink a GNC Lean Shake 25 g protein shake every morning for breakfast. Additionally, I make a snack of tuna with light mayo and onion (protein). Eggs are easy for non-cooks and are a good source of protein. -
You can never go wrong with walking. It's the best exercise there is.

I really like cardio. I typically do 30 minutes on the treadmill, 30 minutes on the seated elliptical, and 30 minutes of dancing around the house each day to get my 10,000 steps in

Stalls are normal post -WLS just like they were when dieting before the surgery. Follow your surgeon's guidelines on how much to eat, how much to drink, how much protein to get, etc, and you'll see results.

I kept thinking I wanted to join the YMCA for their water aerobics classes, but it's too expensive for me and Silver Sneakers doesn't cover the Y where I live. But whenever I'm on vacation and in an outdoor pool I spend the whole time doing exercises in the water and it feels so wonderful. I just don't know if I'd like doing it in the cold snowy weather, going into a gym and changing clothes and getting wet and stuff.

You can't lift much until at least four weeks out, but after that you're good to go. Start slow.

Are you still tracking what you're eating? Are your exercises making you gain muscle, which is a good thing, but weighs more, so maybe you'll see your progress in other ways like inch loss?

My surgeon told me that it's really a lot harder to stretch that stomach back out than people think it is. We all gained weight during COVID, do don't beat yourself up about it. Just get back to the basics of tracking your food, getting in your water, focusing on protein, exercising if you can, and the weight will come off. I've just lost 25 lbs since Labor Day and it's possible. You can do it . . . I believe in you! Remember why you had the WLS in the first place.

Awful diarrhoea 2 days post gastric bypass
GradyCat replied to Doodle41's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
While I didn't have bypass (I had sleeve), I did have diarrhea after the surgery and gas of course for just about 2 days, so this sounds normal to me. -
Need Help!! Feeling my weight loss has slowed down...stopped.
GradyCat replied to TheBusierBee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You've lost 70+ pounds in 4 months and you don't think that's fast enough? That's FANTASTIC!!!! You're doing fine. Your weight loss is going to slow as you get smaller and that's perfectly normal. 8 pounds is still good in a month. My (unsolicited) advice is: (1) be realistic. you're doing GREAT, quit beating yourself up. (2) talk to the counselors as your surgeon's office or a private therapist about your food issues with head hunger and eating issues. But be kind to yourself. You've GOT THIS! -
That's a good question. I've never had a spray tan. Like you, I've had melanoma and can't do tanning beds or be out in the real sun too much anymore. I've used Jergens Glow Lotion but it discolors the inside of my clothes (it washes out eventually) but I don't always get it even and when you sweat in the creases behind your knees it makes it come of and leave yellow streaks. I just don't worry about it anymore.

I still have some boobage 🙂 but they're not perky and round like before. Now they're pitifully droopy and saggy and sad. 😞 Well, maybe that's got more to do with my advanced age rather than the weight loss. LOL! :-0

Mine was embarrassment and concern about if I were ever to become ill and needed EMS to lift me up on a guerney to transport me to the hospital that they wouldn't be able to lift me.

The challenge, as silly as it may seem, for me is to remember that it's a FOREVER change in lifestyle and eating habits and exercise patterns.

Liquid protein supplement
GradyCat replied to Jessica1024's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I never had any trouble getting in my daily protein requirement. I drink 25g protein GNC Lean Shakes in Swiss Chocolate and Quest Protein bars, along with the food that I eat. -
Perfectly normal. You might try to eat and drink slower and see if that improves it any. I don't belch but I get a lot of air with drinking and eating and my stomach gurgles A LOT at 3 years post-op but it doesn't bother me.

I'm 3 years out and still don't tolerate potatoes well, whether they're mashed, fried, or baked I can only take two forkfuls and I'm done. Which is a good thing because nobody needs to be eating potatoes. 🙂

I do of course realize that scales only measure a specific point in time. And I also of course realize that I shouldn't obsess over a number on a scale or weigh myself multiple times a day. That being said . . . How is it that at 4:30 am I can weigh one thing, then at 6:30 am be 1 pound lighter, than at 8:00 am be 1/2 pound heavier even if I haven't eaten or drank anything? Plus don't even get me started on weighing after a bowel movement . . . my weight actually goes UP! How is that possible? I WANT to weigh just once a week, but I find myself checking the scale every morning as soon as I wake up. Just venting . Anybody else want to throw their scale through the window?😁

Sounds like you're doing GREAT. Good luck on your WLS Journey!

Weight Watchers Personal Points Program
GradyCat replied to GradyCat's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Okay, so it's been two full weeks on the WW program and I've lost 3 pounds. I'm happy with that rate of loss and feel like it'll increase now that I'm transitioned fully from a no-carb diet to a more well-rounded diet as there would have been a period where I would have gained weight when reintroducing carbs. Overall it's easy to do, kinda fun to track and measure and explore. Plus you can't beat the variety of foods you're allowed to have. Anybody else doing WW? -
So I'm grumpy this morning because the scale said I gained a pound since yesterday. I did NOT gain a pound. I usually get up really early and go to the gym, but the scale has started my whole day off wrong. I know better than to let it get to me, I really do, but it's clouding my morning already because the numbers had been creeping down and suddenly it jumped up a whole pound in a day for no reason. Sigh. I HATE THE SCALE!!!!

Not get saturated after mini portions
GradyCat replied to Annalaura88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As someone else has already said, warm liquids help quell your hunger and make you feel full. And as another person said, sometimes it's head hunger and not true stomach hunger. Does your surgeon's office offer lifetime support to talk to a nutritionist or therapist about these issues?
