8oz of soup 1 week post op?

Don't beat yourself up about it. If you could eat/sip 8 oz then you could. You're not going to stretch your stomach or pop your staples. When you transition to real foods, stop at the recommended portion sizes, but right now you're healing and you need nutrition.

    Gastric sleeve

Head hunger is a bear. I'm almost never really physically hungry. It's usually boredom or stress. It's a hard battle to fight. Hang in there.

    Constipation

You're drinking an awful lot. Maybe it's all coming out as liquid because you're on a liquid diet? Call your surgeon's office if you still haven't had a bowel movement in a few days.
  4. Yes! It's possible! I gained maybe 25-30 COVID pounds and just lost them all. My stomach did what it was supposed to do (sleeve) and still worked as a tool 3 years post-WLS. It still works! I just went back to the basics of tracking EVERYTHING I eat, working out, focusing on protein and water and THE WEIGHT CAME OFF! I'm now on Weight Watchers to keep this momentum going. Believe in yourself. You can do it!
  5. I don't think you'd have to start from scratch, but I hear your concern. It was important to me to personally meet the person that was going to be operating on me, get to know her a little, ask her about her success rate, etc. She met with me twice pre-op and took as much time as I need and answered as many questions as I asked. She was very kind. You might want to select a different surgeon, which might delay you a little bit but won't make you start all over again.
  6. I thought I wanted gastric bypass but two of my healthcare providers convinced me to do the "less radical" thing of sleeve surgery instead. I was a 40 BMI, not huge but still morbidly obese but not too many comorbidities to be concerning. I had the sleeve and I have no regrets. It works! It's a tool - the work of eating right was still up to me. Three years post-op it still works for me and keeps me from overeating. Either surgery is good and ultimately it's up to you.
  7. I totally understand. It's like, "Hey, wasn't I a person who deserved attention and help 50 pounds ago, why just now that I'm prettier?" It's amazing how your aesthetics affect peoples reactions to you and friendliness toward you. Rant on!

Cranky, and irritable with my spouse

You did NOT take the easy way out. WLS is just a tool . . . you did the hard work yourself. I hope your husband will use you as a role model and want to lose weight and improve himself as well. I hope you two have been going to the gym together,
  9. We'll be your support system. 🤗You're an adult, you do what's best for you. WLS is NOT the easy way out. It's just a tool. You'll still have to do the work.

Feeling guilty eating not as healthy as i could

According to my surgeon, it's really hard to stretch out your stomach. It's not as easy as just overeating a few meals, so take that worry off your mind. She also told me to focus on protein. If full when done eating protein, don't eat anything else. Then veggies. Then grains. So eat one thing at a time and stop when you're full.

    Losing My Hair!

I went with shorter hair but it's still thin. I'm not losing anymore though. But I did start with thin fine hair to begin with and the WLS made it slightly worse but it's stopped hemorrhaging so that's good. I just have learned to accept it and wear my hair short and sassy. I tried Rogaine and Nioxin but they didn't help, so don't waste your money.

    Uncontrolled Nausea

Call your surgeon's office. You shouldn't still be nauseous from the anesthesia this long after surgery. Something's going on.
  13. I don't have the premium version of My Fitness Pal so I can't see stuff like you can. Plus I just started Weight Watchers three weeks ago and it only tracks points. So this morning I was curious and I put my last several days of WW tracking into into My Fitness Pal and surprisingly my macros were really good. It's about 1100 calories/day. MFP showed that I'd get back into Onederland within the next couple of weeks, which is encouraging. I do enjoy tracking things.

How to Break a Stall (Step by Step instructions)

These are HILARIOUS! Got a good chuckle out of them. I'm in a stall or a pause or something right now due to switching diet plans but I expected the slow-down during a transition like this. These made me laugh.

    1 month post-Op work out/Exercise?

I can't remember back to one month post op as it's been 3 years, but I do remember going to the gym and walking and doing the bike and cardio stuff. I didn't do weights for a while due to weight lifting restrictions and didn't want to pull my incision or affect my new stomach in any way. Now I go to the gym 7 days a week and do both strength-training as well as cardio. On good weather days I walk outside. On bad weather days like yesterday I use YouTube videos and do indoor exercises, walk in place, cardio, etc. I don't have any home gym equipment, so I mainly do cardio and floor exercises. I'm thinking about buying some dumbbells. It sounds like you've got the perfect set-up at home to do plenty of fitness things on your program. Good luck!

    Surgery date set for January

Congratulations on your surgery date and best wishes on your WLS journey.

    Going back to work

Working in the office is good because you can take a bathroom break whenever you need to. Don't be self-conscious about it - - go to the bathroom as often as you need to. Keep sipping water at your desk all day long and if you have to go pee every 20 minutes then do it. Are you having urgent bowel movements too? Those should end soon if so.

    Driving?

I never took any of the pain pills, including during my hospital stay. Never had one second of pain. So I could drive right away.
  19. For the past six days, the first six days of the year, I have registered over 10,000 steps each day on my FitBit between working out an hour at the gym each morning, then another 30 minutes at home later in the day. But we have ice on the roads this morning. Treacherous driving. Which means no going to the gym for me this morning. It's only 11F out, so it's frigid and the roads are going to stay frozen. So I don't know how on earth I can get 10,000 steps at home, but I'm going to give it a heck of a try!

What to do in the gym ?

I've focused on cardio, strengthening my heart and lungs and moving all of my muscle groups.

What are some exercises I can do in bed

I think everybody's right, you need to consult your doctor first because we don't want to tell you to do anything that's going to hurt you. But I would think arm and upper body exercises would be do-able in bed. Just check with your doctor's office first, okay? Congrats on your decision to get active!

    Eating right

My surgeon told me to stick to primarily protein, then veggies, then grains, and last fruit. If I'm full on protein, stop there.
  23. Your arms are AMAZING! I've been curious about weightlifting, it sort of appeals to me, but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe soon. I do belong to a gym where I could ask one of the trainers to help me get started and show me how to use stuff.

My Six Day Step Streak is in Jeopardy

Oh good, thanks for the heads up. I knew AARP and Silver Sneakers had some short fitness videos online but I never even thought about YouTube. D'oh!😀

My Six Day Step Streak is in Jeopardy

Yep, I put in my new wireless earbuds and my songlist on my Android phone and did all kinds of silly things to keep in motion, including also some squats and bicep curls and rows.
