Stick to/get back to the basics of tracking all of your food and water intake. Focus on protein 60g or more a day. Exercise if you can. You'll start losing again. Keep in mind why you had WLS in the first place and that'll motivate you to get back on track.

I'm not going to beat up on you, like you said we're only human, but this is so important that you need to stay focused on the big picture and the reason you've having WLS and stick to the pre-op diet going forward.

VGS after many abdominal surgeries
GradyCat replied to Flagondry's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What about a lap band? Would that be something you could do? -
Yeah, limit sugar as much as you can. But if you like sweet treats, I found a good one. If you stick to the recommended serving of 15 pieces (bears), it's a good option. 5 g protein. 120 calories. 7 g sugar.
-
Good for you for getting back to tracking! It makes a huge difference. 60+ g of protein daily 64+ oz of water daily Limit carbs and sugar and fats.

The old rule is 32 times I think, but that's hard to do. Just make sure you're not swallowing huge bites and chew your food.

Yep, no doubt about it stalls SUCKS!

Totally common after WLS. Find some sweaters you like to carry with you places you go.

Do hiccups mean anything?
GradyCat replied to DaisyAndSunshine's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yep, definitely a "full" signal. Glad your is giving you these signals. -
This is interesting to learn. I didn't know there was such a thing as a "thigh lift." I'll be watching this thread to see how it goes for you all and learning more information about it.

Gas a year and a half out. . .
GradyCat replied to Chelget's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It doesn't seem like it would be related to your bariatric surgery this far after. Maybe you should see your gastroenterologist for an endoscopy to see what's going on. Have you tried Gas-X or anything? -
What were some of the first solid foods you tried?
GradyCat replied to LoriM13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started easy with scrambled eggs, crackers, stuff that wasn't too dense or too tough. I wanted it to slide in. I guess I also had a taco within the first little while after having solid foods, but I still can't do soft tacos because of the tortilla and I have to do hard tacos. My stomach doesn't like soft tortillas to this day or bread. -
My surgeon was nothing but supportive. She never chastised me for not reaching goal but encouraged me to keep trying lose another 20 pounds. She understood when I gained COVID weight. But as for you . . . you're still healing from the surgery. Your body is stall adapting and adjusting. You are about to hit a stall, by the way, just to let you know that everyone stalls starting somewhere between Weeks 3 and 5. Be kind to yourself. Don't let any negativity on the office staff's part get you down. You are on a journey. Good luck!

Be prepared mentally for some discomfort for a couple of weeks potentially. I never had any trouble getting in my water and protein nor did I have any pain, but some do. Are you having an overnight stay at the hospital? Pack light. You won't need pajamas. You'll need socks with non-slip soles. You might want chapstick. Bring your phone and charger. Be easy on yourself and don't expect results overnight. It's a process. WLS is just a tool, not the solution.

I didn't see a lot of use in the counselor at my surgeon's office, even though visits with her are lifetime free visits, but I just happen to also have Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety, so I talk regularly (monthly) with a counselor/therapist and she also coaches me on WLS issues. My psychiatrist who prescribes my antidepressants just happens to be a WLS pre-admission doctor who counsels people before their surgeries and evaluates their success potential. So both of my mental health professionals are very WLS friendly and knowledgeable. If you shop a new counselor you could ask if they have any experience dealing with bariatric patients.

Never heard of them. Not really high in protein, though. Good to know about other options, though, so thanks for letting us know.

Is Breakfast The Most Important Meal of the Day?
GradyCat replied to GradyCat's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yes, vitamins make me nauseous too if I don't take them on a full stomach. -
Questions about weight gain due to SSRI’s like Paxil before surgery…HELP!
GradyCat replied to Renske's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm on an SSRI that causes weight gain too and it works for me after trying many different antidepressants, so I have to stick with it. They say it only adds about 10 pounds in general. So yeah, losing weight is harder when you're fighting against weight-positive meds, but it's definitely do-able. -
All surgeons are different, so just follow your surgeon's guidelines.

I focus back on why I had the surgery to begin with and look to the future success and get through the current pain of it.

Wishing you the best of luck on your revision surgery and your new WLS journey. Fingers crossed! -
Wth have I done to myself panic…
GradyCat replied to ellie100's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
WLS is NOT the lazy easy way out. Get that out of your head. It's not a miracle cure. It's only a tool. You still have to do all the hard work. Second, it's only been a week. The surgery released hormones in your body and you're second-guessing what you did. You're healing. Life is changing. It's all normal to feel this way. Talk to the counselor at your surgeon's office and deal with some of these issues. -
5 weeks post op and pregnant

What Is the best body scale to purchase?
GradyCat replied to Lsoto81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd say none of them. They're torture devices. I have a love/hate relationship with mine. 😀 But seriously I just have a plain old digital scale that is sturdy and is accurate when compared to the gym and my doctor's office. I don't even know the brand. Although I do think it might be cool to have one of those that uploads data into an App for you and tracks it or that measures body fat percentages and such. -
You've been very successful. Congratulations! 50 pounds in 3 months is outstanding! Your body is going through an adjustment period. Just keep doing what you're doing and it'll start moving again. No worries.
