Yeah, after the infamous Week 3 stall, stalls are sporadic and specific to the individual. It's normal, even though it's frustrating, especially when it's 30 days or longer, but keep focused on doing the right things such as tracking food, getting in your water, getting in the protein, and getting some exercise.

12 years post RNY---3 years post emergency revision---new complications?
GradyCat replied to Matt22's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Do you think you're due an appointment with your WLS surgeon to discuss what's going on with you? -
First Appointment Jitters
GradyCat replied to suzannethemom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh don't worry, they aren't going to quiz you. They're going to go over your past history of dieting, comorbidities, etc. They're going to ask you which surgery you want. They're going to ask you if you have any questions. You don't have to be an expert. And it's okay to be nervous. It's a big deal. -
The container lies. LOL! 😀 I'm finding the same thing with Skinny Pop popcorn. The container says it has 6 servings of 3 3/4 cups per serving. But I only get 3 1/2 servings out of it when I pour it into measuring cups. I think the packaging is deceptive.

I think topicals are okay because they don't go through your stomach.

Speed of eating - does it really matter when you know your limit??

I have mild GERD, should I get VSG or RNY?
GradyCat replied to AchieveGoals's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had GERD before VSG and now I don't have it. It went away after I lost the weight. -
Confession: Back To Basics - 2020 Broken Back &COVID Weight Gain
GradyCat replied to Chel1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Join the club, sister! I experience the same thing. I gained 25 pounds throughout COVID and only recently started back to Square One around September or October and have lost all of those jerky pounds back and am focusing on working once again toward original goal weight. I've been going to the gym very regularly and just getting back to the basics of food tracking, protein, water, etc. My sleeve is still working for me as I can only eat small meals, so that tool is still there. I just have to use it! You can do this! -
When did you start eating fruits? (Carbs content)
GradyCat replied to DaisyAndSunshine's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I really haven't had any fruit to speak of for 3 years. I'm not a big fan of fruit in the first place, but mostly because I focus on the protein I'm full by the time I eat that and I can only get in a couple of forkfuls of a veggie before being done. No room for anything else. -
Did your comorbidities go away after surgery?
GradyCat replied to ClareLynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It worked out for me. I used to have 2 migraines a week. Haven't had one in two years. I used to have GERD, it's gone. I used to have sleep apnea. No longer have it. I used to have borderline high blood pressure. Now my BP is normal. -
Because the liquid from the drink fills up your stomach, and then the nutrients from the food don't get a chance to get in there and stay there and be absorbed because the liquid pushes it through. Something like that.

(9 days post-op) I'm in crisis and overwhelmed
GradyCat replied to CowboyKurt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear that you're so fatigued, but I think it's normal considering how few calories you're taking in and the fact that you just had major surgery and your body is diverting all energy to healing. You really need to get that liquid in to avoid dehydration. Try some sugar-free popsicles, they count as liquid and it is easily tolerated. The crying is the hormone release from the surgery. It's very common. Hang in there. We're here for you. -
2 pounds down after 30 pound regain
GradyCat replied to ElseeGee181's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's right @ElseeGee181 we do it one day at a time, one pound at a time. Way to go! You've got this! -
Oh gosh don't feel that way. There's a lot of information to absorb and process and you just have to take in a little at a time. Your surgeon's office will guide you on what Vitamins they want you to take. I take mine at night before I go to sleep to avoid them making me nauseous and/or try to spread them throughout the day to avoid too much at one time.

My Face Is Broken!
GradyCat replied to lizonaplane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never done the facial recognition thing, I always punch in the code. That's funny,. -
There are so many different options out there for liquid protein. Try a different brand or flavor or type. I use GNC Lean Shakes Swiss Chocolate 25 g protein premade bottles
-
The EXACT same thing is happening to me. I'm walking 10,000 steps (5 miles) a day and drinking my water, focusing on protein, etc. The scale is going UP! What the hell?! I don't think either one of us are doing anything wrong. I think we're in a stall based on our increased physical activity. Scales suck!

I am very happy with the sleeve. There is nothing I learned afterward that I wished I'd known before. PROS: less invasive/drastic of a surgery, not as many absorption problems CONS: you lose more weight with bypass

"You look great - You're wasting away..." - Dammit I have 10lbs to lose....
GradyCat replied to MandoGetsSleeved's topic in Rants & Raves
True, I wish I had taken my measurements 2 months ago when I started working out at the gym to compare. Sometimes those measurements show more than the scale alone. -
Vaginal discharge 2 weeks after vertical Sleeve surgery
GradyCat replied to Queen22's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Let us know how it turns out at your gyno appointment and what they say is the cause. -
Not to worry, perfectly normal. You're creating less waste to release. Now 3 years post-op I am regular daily.

"You look great - You're wasting away..." - Dammit I have 10lbs to lose....
GradyCat replied to MandoGetsSleeved's topic in Rants & Raves
Yeah, it's tough. I lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks on WW and was happy and moving forward but the last two weeks I've lost nothing/gained if you believe the scale. I followed the diet to the letter. The lady at the gym keeps saying "You get smaller every time I see you" but I'm NOT! I'm getting bigger! -
Anyone cheated on pre op diet prior to their surgery?
GradyCat replied to Tonib91's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was anal retentive about following everything to the letter pre-op and for the first six months post-op. Be careful to follow your ore-op diet as much as possible because you need to shrink your liver before WLS and it helps you prefer for the two weeks liquid diet post-op. -
Gout Flare-up, time-frame, and remedies
GradyCat replied to New_me_2022's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've heard that gout is very painful. I would think that WLS will help with that to prevent future flare-ups because you'll be eating less fatty and triggering foods and your weight will be lower. -
My cousin has dipolar disorder and had bypass surgery. She was fine with absorbing the meds, but she was noncompliant with her meds and ended up gaining the weight back because she was imbalanced. But as to your concern, I take anxiety and antidepressants and they absorb and work effectively just fine. Just stay on your meds and you'll be successful.
