Did you have to share a room in the hospital?
GradyCat replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my own private room. All the rooms at the local hospital are private rooms now. I was in a "bariatric wing" where most of the patients had just had weight-loss surgery. -
I'm going to research this once I reach my goal weight. There'd be no point in doing it now as I'm just a month post-op sleeve, but I am curious about it down the road.
-
I'm only a month out and the first three weeks I lost 15 pounds but this past week and a half I haven't lost anything, so I have moments of worry, but I know it's about the long-term and not the short-term and my body is just adjusting to all the changes from the size of my stomach, how many calories I'm taking in (800), exercising and reintroducing real food into my diet.

I stopped taking Omeprazole about two months before my 12/11/18 surgery because you had to stop taking it for two weeks to take the pre-surgery H Pylori test and I found that I didn't need it anymore and wasn't having any acid reflux. Until AFTER surgery and now every time I lay down I get horrible acid reflux, but I don't want to start taking the Omeprazole again because I already take enough pills each day for other things. I'm hoping it'll settle down after a while on its own.

I've got a couple of necklaces that fit around my neck now that didn't before. I've lost 15" in 3 weeks since surgery. I'm down a clothing size already. My face and neck look thinner.

Day #1 post-op is the worst but Day #2 you'll feel like a brand new person. Get up and walk if you can, it really helps.

I Was Amazed When I Heard This
GradyCat replied to Danny Paul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just four week post-op and I've already has a small, 2 oz of round steak and it went down just fine. I had asked my surgeon and she said it was okay as long as I tolerated it and chewed it well but she did tell me that some people can't tolerate it after sleeve surgery. -
Tips on minimizing excess skin
GradyCat replied to Sarah_Marsy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just a month post-op but started back to the gym 2 weeks after surgery and going resistance exercises with weights and strength training (in addition to cardio of course) to help stave off the loose skin problem that I expect eventually after I've lost 100 pounds. Hoping that getting a headstart on it will help -
Good luck, you've got this, you're ready and other than day #1 post-op where you'll be super nauseous, it's easy peasy after that. I'm on Week 4 post-op now and back to gym, getting ready to start solid food, have lost 15 pounds and 15 inches and am looking forward to the year ahead to lose 80 more lbs
-
Way to go! You're an inspiration! I'm just 4 weeks out, so I have 80 pounds and a long way to go but with stories like yours I feel it's possible.
-
Could it be the vitamins on an empty stomach that's making you nauseous?

So glad I've been reading the forums because I weighed today at 4 weeks post-op and haven't lost a pound since last week and thankfully I have read that several of you have stalled weight loss between liquids to soft foods to regular food, so I know it's nothing to worry about and that it doesn't mean my surgery didn't work. I'll admit it's disappointing, but it's okay because the weight will fall off in future weeks and I've already lost 15 pounds and 15 inches in just 3 weeks, so it's all good. I hope to lose 60 pounds in 2019.

Had surgery 12/11 and had my follow-up with surgeon on Monday 12/31 when she cleared me to eat soft mushy foods for two weeks. Had some salmon and some scrambled eggs so far. Little scary to start eating food again even though I'm tired of liquids. But excited when resuming normal food again in two weeks although I'm going to be cautious at first. Down 15 lbs and 15 inches in 21 days so far.

I don’t feel much different!
GradyCat replied to KatiT47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just now starting the soft foods phase 3 weeks post-op, and I can already tell that food makes a big difference from liquid. I can eat so very little before feeling full, which is a good feeling knowing that the surgery has worked. I've lost 15 pounds and 16 inches already in 21 days, so I know it's working and will continue to work if I just be patient and follow the program. -
I'm still in liquid phase, just starting soft foods phase 18 days post-op. I'm drinking GNC Lean Shakes (chocolate), eating cottage cheese, and have eaten a couple of scrambled eggs. Sam's Club offers a fruit-punch flavored clear protein drink by Premiere Protein. Thinned Oatmeal is okay in liquid phase and has some protein

Is anyone in the Louisville, KY area?
GradyCat replied to MeaganMB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I'm in the East End of Louisville, KY. I went through Norton Weight Loss Management and had my gastric sleeve surgery 12/11/18, just 18 days ago. It has been an easy process so far, no pain, no problems. I've lost roughly 15 pounds since surgery already in 18 days and look forward to losing 80-100 more in the next 12 months. -
4.5 WEEKS frustrated constipated not losing much
GradyCat replied to JMW's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh my goodness, you're 18 pounds lighter --- that's GREAT! Look at the positive side of that number instead of dwelling on bigger numbers. You'll lose the weight with time. The surgery wasn't a magic bullet, just a tool to get us to our ideal weight. It'll be okay. I'm just 2.5 weeks post surgery and I am having regular, albeit small, bowel movements, but I'm still on a liquid-only diet, so that might change when I go on real food. -
Where do you find your vitamin supplements?
GradyCat replied to paulamelton's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I bought them all in chewable form at GNC but they weren't cheap -
Has gastric sleeve 12/11 and didn't have to take any pain meds either in the hospital or at home. Now 15 days post-op feeling GREAT, sleeping through the whole night, even went to the gym today to do some cardio. Hang in there, it gets better.
-
I had gastric sleeve 12/11/18 and I've been getting a little when I lay down, but not when I'm awake and sitting up.
-
I'm drinking premade GNC Lean Shakes with 25g protein per 14 oz shake. I'm 15 days post-op. I like the chocolate ones. I also bought some Pure Protein Clear Shakes at Sam's Club (premade) that are fruit punch flavored
-
I'm wondering that myself. I'm still in the liquids phase, just moving into soft foods phase post-op only 15 days, so I'm eating about 500 calories a day right now and want to make sure I don't go crazy when I get to start adding food

Sweet Tooth - Post Bypass
GradyCat replied to shoregirl75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still in the soft foods phase post--op just 12/11, so I'm digging on sugar-free popsicles and sugar-free pudding -
Just had mine 12/11/18, 3 days ago, and spent two nights in hospital, got home yesterday. Today I'm feeling pretty good compared to the post-op day #1 with so much nausea. I'm having no trouble getting in my liquids and protein drinks, walking around, and using my spirometer. Looking forward to start seeing the numbers on the scale move downward
