    New here

My liquid phase included lots of varieties of beverages including Gatorade Zero (no sugar), diet peach tea, flavored water, GNC Lean chocolate protein shakes, sugar-free jello, and sugar-free popsicles were a saving grace.

    This book was VERY helpful

I'll be darned if they don't have a "Dummies" book for everything! 😀

    Almost there!

That's wonderful! Congrats! You've given me hope as a relative newbie (6 weeks post-op) that it really can happen.

    Follow up psych eval

I don't remember having to take a written test. I remember filling out some forms in the application, but no test. Good luck!

    NSV

I have my husband "hide" the scale up high in the closet where I can't reach it sometimes so that I can only weigh on Monday mornings and not obsess about it every day. I was wearing a shirt yesterday and my husband said it was "swallowing me" and that was my non-scale victory for Tuesday.
  6. I had no pain at all post-surgery and still none six weeks later. I guess I got lucky.
  7. Don't worry too much about the weight loss part, it'll happen, it really will. The left side pain is probably the stitch from the laparoscopy to the muscle, which is more sore than the other ones that didn't involve a muscle. Hoping you feel better soon.

    Energy??

Good luck going back to work and congrats on your surgery. I am retired, so going back to work wasn't an issue for me. I also had sleeve and not bypass, but I will say that I felt fully recovered and fully of energy at 2 weeks and was going to the gym. As long as I am getting my protein in, I have energy. I hope that helps.

    Opinion?

But pounds aren't the same as percentages. People of higher weights are going to lose more pounds, but the same percentage as a person of lower weight. Also, each person is different. Rule of thumb: 33% of excess weight loss at 3 months, 50% of excess weight loss at 6 months, 70% of excess weight loss at 12 months

    Opinion?

That's over 3 pounds per week. That's GREAT! Take it easy on yourself, it's not all gonna come off overnight. I'm at 6 weeks post-op and have lost 19 pounds and I'm happy because I know it's going to be a consistent couple of pounds a week for the next 9-12 months and I'll eventually reach goal weight.

    5 years out...gaining weight

Oh, God Bless you, I'm sure that was quite stressful and a jolt to your system to change your routines and take care of the little ones. You can do this!
  12. You really should be eating more. If food is bothering you, continue with the liquids. Have you tried sugar-free popsicles? Sugar-free pudding? Applesauce? Cottage Cheese? These should go down pretty easily.
  13. That's a GREAT graphic, thanks for sharing! It reinforces my reasons for having the surgery and gives me something to look forward to.

    I'm Overweight :-)

Congratulations on being overweight! 🏆 I strive to get there in about 30 more pounds!

    Drinking too fast?

I have still been drinking slowly at 6 weeks post-op because it's just become a habit.
  16. My surgery was 12/11 and mine was low and making me dizzy for the first couple of weeks but now it's evened out Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Super dry skin

I thought it was just winter and cold weather making me dry. Maybe not. I'm staying hydrated, now I need to stay moisturized Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Lab Schedule

I haven't even thought about labs yet. I'm just 6 weeks post-op. I'd like to see any improvements in bloodwork in about 3 months Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I don't have a big appetite, but I'm hungry about every 3 hours. And you hit that dreaded Week 3 Stall. Don't worry, we all apparently hit it and it's an expected thing. Mine started moving again in Week 5.

    That's wonderful! Congrats. 🏆

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Thank goodness for this forum or I wouldn't have learned about the dreaded Week 3 stall. I was going crazy trying to figure out how I could be eating so little and exercising and yet not dropping any weight. Thank goodness in Week 5 the numbers on the scale are starting to move again. I wish my bariatric office had forewarned me about the Week 3 stall so I'd have been prepared for it and not freaking out.
  22. Oh goodness, you had quite a few scares there with your surgeries. Hope you are on the mend now.
  23. Yes, it's like a rolling or cramping feeling, right? I think it's air that we're taking in when we eat.
  24. I got lucky, I never had any pain anywhere. In the hospital I never even used any pain medication and I didn't take any when I got home either. The only thing I had post-op was nausea Day #1.

    TMI question re. vomiting

I've had "the foamies" twice when trying to eat something that didn't agree with me but it was controllable and not urgent, so while in the restroom at the restaurant I was able to wait until it was clear before I had to spit up. "The foamies" isn't like throwing up food, it's just foamy mucus-like stuff and it's very short-lived, just a couple of spit-ups and it's over.
