    Tearful mess

Surgery messes with our hormones and emotions, so be kind to yourself and focus on the things you're doing right. Make sure to get your liquids on daily as you don't want to get dehydrated.
  2. I'm guessing yes. They made me bring my CPAP to the hospital with me. They can't take that chance in recovery or during your stay that you'll stop breathing in your sleep.
  3. That's wonderful! Ireland is a great place to visit. Enjoy your well-deserved vacation!
  4. I want to get into the "healthy" category of BMI, which means about 85 more pounds for me

    Not seeing myself any different

Wow, you've lost a LOT in such a short amount of time! I had my sleeve done a week before you and I've only lost 19 pounds, but people who don't know I've had surgery are already commenting, "You look like you've lost weight" and when I made a collage of side-by-side before and after photos I can already tell a difference. Are your clothes fitting differently? Is your jewelry fitting differently? Do you feel different? You're probably just being too hard on yourself because it's a natural thing for us to do. You're doing GREAT! Keep up the good work.
  9. Hang in there, your body will get used to it, you've just been recovering.
  10. Yeah, what the heck with where the weight comes off? 🙂 It never comes off where you want it to. So far I'm measuring once a week or every two weeks and I've lost more in my thighs than anywhere else, which surprises the hell out of me. I like looking at a combination of the number on the scale as well as the tape measurer. I hope to lose it a little bit of everywhere, but time will tell.

Way to go! Great job! You're an inspiration for me to hang in there and keep going to the gym

    Weird post surgery things

Thank goodness you're craving lunch meat and not cake. 🙂 I received some bad news yesterday and started to comfort myself by eating a donut, but I took one bite and didn't like it, so I'm really glad I didn't follow through with the bad habit of using food and I'm glad I didn't like the taste anymore.

    First Day of Surgery

Glad you had a good experience. I did too, 7 weeks ago, no pain, no discomfort, just nausea on post-op Day #1. Good luck on your journey.
  14. I was blessed to have a recovery room nurse that shared her before/after WLS photos with me, she'd lost 109 pounds and she kept me preoccupied from feeling nauseous and sick while recovering from the surgery.

    Eating nuts after surgery

I'm eating almonds at 7 weeks post-op, been eating them since transitioning to solid foods. Having no problems.

    I'm a bad loser

I had surgery the day after you did and my experience is very similar. I've lost 19 lbs in 7 weeks. I didn't lose anything at all during Weeks 4 and 5 and was "stalled." Now I'm losing like 1 lb a week. I almost think I need to eat MORE to lose more weight because I'm only eating 600-800 calories day, but in the end I just have to trust the process and know that the weight will come up maybe slowly, but surely.

    First Post-New Here

Welcome to the forums. I'm 53 and I just had the VSG 7 weeks ago and joined here as well. I've learned so much from reading everyone's posts and it's kept me sane.

    Best tracker

I use MyFitnessPal.com. It tracks calories, protein, fat, all sorts of things, exercise, water intake, and more. I use it on my Android Samsung Galaxy 8 phone.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

My surgeon advised against the patches and said to stick with the chewables. She said not enough research to support how much absorption you really get from the patch

    Horrible pain and discomfort

I think it's certain foods that do it. I can't have bread yet and when I tried eating a soft taco, the tortilla felt "stuck" and I threw up the foamies. I can't do certain textures yet like steak or dense hamburger. I'm just 7 weeks post-op so I know this will change as time goes on and I just avoid those foods now.
  21. They make a lot of protein snacks like chips, cookies, pretzels and so forth that he might want to try.

    Does this look infected?

I would call your surgeon and let them know and see if they can see you or give you the best advice to follow.

    Certain Foods

I know better than to allow cookies or chocolate in the house. Those are my go-to foods when I'm stressed, so I haven't had any in 12 weeks since month before surgery and now 7 weeks post-op.
  24. The binder my bariatric team gave me states that I should have three meals per day and two snacks, but states the snacks are "only if needed." I "snack" on sugar-free pudding or a sugar-free popsicle.

    Hypothyroid Sleevers?

Yes, I also have hypothyroidism but hadn't considered how it's going to affect my weight loss post-sleeve. Good question! My surgery was 12/11 and I've lost 19 pounds.
