    First all inclusive holiday!

Way to go! I'm glad you had a good time. I'm leaving on a cruise next week for my first time since sleeve 8 weeks ago and I'm preparing myself mentally for what I can and cannot eat on board while on holiday.

    Food

I need to convince myself of several of those statements.

    Scheduling

My surgeon was scheduled three weeks out, so it took a while for me to get on the schedule once approved and I didn't like the delay but eventually had the surgery 12/11 and am happy that I did it. Better later than never!

    Swelling and bloating

It should go away within 2 weeks. I think mine was gone within 7 days.

    NSV's

Sometimes the Non-scale victories are more exciting than the numbers on the scale going down. Hooray for NSVs!

    Beef in soft food stage?

When I first read your title I thought it said "Beer" instead of "beef." LOL! I think you're okay. One little mistake isn't going to ruin the whole process. I am 8 weeks post-op and still having trouble with beef. Hamburger and steak are "dense" and aren't settling down well, so I am avoiding them. That's okay, plenty of chicken and salmon for me.
  7. You'll find everything you need here in these forums, from personal experiences on each type of surgery to lessons learned and what to expect post-op. Good luck with your surgery!

    Today's the day!

Happy for you! Good luck and speedy recovery.
  9. I too have been able to lose 40+ pounds on my own before, but it inevitably comes back. This surgery might be the tool you need to make the weight loss permanent. But only you have that answer and know your body and how you've handled weight loss in the past. Good luck with your decision.
  10. I've learned something from your post! I had GERD for years and frequently had a cough when lying down at night and I'd keep cough drops on my nightstand. Now post-op I don't have GERD anymore and I had noticed that I haven't coughed at night anymore and haven't been using the cough drops. I didn't realize the two were related. Thanks for helping me realize that. You can take OTC Prilosec for GERD, which is just like the prescription Omeprazole.

    Weight gain !

So sorry to hear this. Have you tried going back to the type of eating that made you successful in the first place? I know that's easier said than done, but it's a place to start. Maybe even start with a 1500/cal/day diet or a two week liquid diet to get you started back toward weight-loss. You don't want it to keep creeping up. Take care.

    Surgery fears..

That's a normal fear. I prayed and prayed for two weeks before the surgery for a skillful surgeon, for no complications, no leaks, no infections, etc. When I woke up in recovery I remember saying, "I'm alive, I made it" and the nurses assuring me I was okay. Just try to focus on how wonderful you're going to feel and how many more years of life you're going to have because you'll be at a healthy weight. Take care.
  13. Hi, I'm from Kentucky too! Yeah, I was disappointed when I couldn't get a surgery date as quickly as I thought I would or an appointment with the surgeon. Use this time to research everything and write down every single question you want to ask. I took a notebook with a list of questions with me to every appointment and they took as much time as I need to answer them all. Good luck with your appt!
  14. Sugar-free chocolate pudding, a chocolate protein shake, those chocolate flavored soy puffs . . .
  15. My weight has gone up and down, but I've only been "obese" for the last 10 years. I would be "heavy" at times but not as huge as I was before surgery (100 pounds obese). I too didn't see myself as "fat" when I looked in the mirror and was shocked when I finally saw how large I had become. I'm 53 years old.

    Clothes Cull Catharsis

Yes, I've been doing the same thing. I didn't really have a catharsis like you did, but parting with some of the beloved loose-fitting clothes was emotional and hoping that I'd never need that size again in the future. Congrats on the smaller you and your wardrobe overhaul!

    Twin Peaks Protein Puffs

Good to know, thanks! I'm enjoying branching out into protein chips, protein puffs, protein pretzels and more.

    Gaining weight while waiting

Good luck with your surgery. How exciting! When I had about a 6 week gap waiting for surgery, I went ahead and started eating 2 oz at a time and only foods that I knew I'd be able to eat after surgery. I wanted to "practice" to be prepared for it. My surgeon had warned us in the seminar about eating like it's our last supper before the surgery and how it would make our livers fat and wouldn't be good for the surgery.

    Three meals a day

It could just be gas. I eat my meals about 3 hours apart and I'm 8 weeks post-op and not having any problems with them being too close together.

    Getting cold feet, normal?

This time delay will give you a chance to work on eating now like you'll be eating after surgery and prepare your body for it. Nothing's changed, you still have a list of reasons as to why you want to have this surgery, right? You can do it!

    Smooth Sailing for Anyone?

I was sleeved on 12/11/18 and have had no problems, no complications, no leaks, no infection, no pain --- it's all been smooth sailing. Good luck on your surgery.
  22. The only things I ended up using were lip balm, hand lotion, toothbrush and toothpaste. I had packed pajamas, but never changed into them and they wouldn't have worked anyway because of the heart monitor they stick on you.

    First day home VGS

I had Gatorade Zero, diet iced tea, sugar-free popsicles, sugar-free pudding, water, and protein shakes.
  24. That's hilarious! Congrats!
  25. You've just been through a very major surgery. Be kind to yourself. Do you have an elastic exercise band at home? You could do some stretching and upper-body stuff if you're worried about your leg until you get it tested. Don't be too hard on yourself.
