    Headache post op

Sure, it's possible. Your body's just been through major trauma and had anesthesia and you're probably not drinking enough, so yeah.

    I need accountability

Okay, post each week to let us know how you've done in terms of macros, water intake, protein, and exercise. We'll be looking for these journal entries from you to check on your progress. You can do it!

    Pre-Op Tests

Oh yes, they need to know about any and all comorbidities to aid in insurance approval process, plus get an idea of your overall health, ability with withstand anesthesia, etc. All perfectly standard test requests.

    Final Choice

I'm very happy with my sleeve. It still works 3 years later and limits my intake. I thought I wanted Gastric Bypass but my two mental health therapists both suggested that Sleeve was "less radical" and all I needed at my BMI, so I did that instead. No real rhyme or reason.

Lapband to VSG now to RNY

I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through all of that. I keep seeing mention of VSG causing Acid Reflux, and you mentioned that it wasn't a thing in 2017. Is that a known thing now? What causes it? I had VSG in Dec. 2018 and as far as I can tell it cured my Acid Reflux and I don't have it anymore, but I'm worried because I keep seeing people saying VSG has known Acid Reflux issues.

    Protein and pain

I use lactose-free, nondairy premade GNC Lean Shakes with 25 g protein in Swiss Chocolate flavor. Never had a problem

    Acid Reflux :(

My bariatric surgeon says she's completely in charge of my stomach now, so when I needed an endoscopy to check for GERD, instead of going to a gastroenterologist, my bariatric surgeon did it.

    Crying over granola

Humans aren't programmed to want to give up things, so it's a natural reaction.
  9. Today in my area we were predicted to have an ice storm, sleet, freezing rain, and snow. It hasn't happened yet just before noon but it is still predicted to come. So I had decided to stay home this morning and not go to the gym because I didn't want to drive on slick roads. No worries! I turned the news on and while the news is on, I do cardio: marching in place, squats, dancing, leg kicks, and knee lifts. While the commercials are on I pick up my 8 lb dumbbell and do bicep curls and rows. Between news segments I switch up what I'm doing. I made it a whole 30 minutes while watching the news, getting 30 minutes of exercise while not realizing I was doing it/while watching what was going on with local news and weather. Long story short, there's always an opportunity to exercise, even at home indoors, and I'm still determined to get my 10,000 steps in today no matter what.

    Hello

Yes, I wasn't hungry for a long time after WLS and still rarely actually get "hungry" other than bored. Remember: no straws, and no drinking while eating. Sip, sip, sip all day long soup, brother, gatorade, etc.

Pain under rib cage left side

That's interesting. Sounds like it must be your new trigger. Now you know.

    Got my surgery date!

Congratulations on getting your surgery date and it'll be an easy one for you to remember your surgiversary.

First time I have felt full

It's good you enjoyed some "real food." Just be careful as you venture back into real eating. Good luck on your WLS journey.
  15. Are you saying that the surgeon won't do WLS because of your age and you have to be 65 or younger?

    Surgeon's advice after vomiting

The doctor's advice just sounds like old school when you've had the flu and been throwing up to just eat soups and soft bland foods for a day to settle your stomach. Try GNC soft chew vitamins. They don't make you sick. Or there's some expensive organic vitamins at Whole Foods that didn't make me sick. Otherwise vitamins generally do cause people to get nauseous and throw up if taken all at once or without food.

    Stalls GRRRRR

Stalls can be 3-6 weeks generally speaking. Small fluctuations on the scale like that are typically water weight, but just to be sure, make sure you're still tracking your food and staying on point as you ride this stall out.
  18. I started with all chewables through GNC but they're kinda pricey, so I cheaped out and got generic drugstore vitamins and they sat too hard on my stomach/made me nauseous, so I'm going back to the GNC soft chews next month. I take Vitamin D, a Multi, Vit B12, and Calcium.

    Can’t fart after sleeved surgery

Walking is the best way to pass the gas, whether it's burping or farting, either way it'll come out.
  20. Oh throw that scale out the window for at least the first month and just focus on healing and transitioning. Weight doesn't matter at this point.

Dr says no more protein shakes

That's counter to everything all of us have ever heard. Protein is the main focus. While they eventually want you getting your protein from whole foods and not from shakes, it doesn't make sense that he would say protein doesn't matter or to try to stop you from getting them from shakes at this point. Talk to the nutritionist.

    February 2022

Glad you're home and recovering. Keep us up to date on your progress. Congratulations and wishing you much success on your WLS journey.

    Diet

Eat like you did just after WLS . . . focusing on protein, watching your portion sizes, around 1200 calories/day, getting in your water intake. You'll be back on track in on time.

    Hello

Hi Danna, welcome to this site. You'll find a lot of good information in the forums and threads that will answer almost any question you could possibly have. We share our successes and challenges and learn from each other. Good luck getting your surgery approval and we'll see you around here.
  25. Find a counselor who deals with weight issues and/or bariatric patients. Both my counselor and my psychiatrist have heavy concentrations working with people who've had WLS, so they understand my issues.
