It's hard to eat healthy when you don't feel good. I've had a cold for the last 10 days and thought it was getting better and going away but now it's back and I'm taking cold medicine again. I've been tempted to comfort myself with some carbs, but I haven't yet and hope I can hold out. Chocolate protein shakes are my "go to" splurge.

Need words of encourgement or thoughts
GradyCat replied to Rene' S's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think it'll get better for you. Your body's just been through a lot and it takes a while to transition. Hang in there. -
Fluoxetine capsules
GradyCat replied to Stephani B's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I saw my psychiatrist today and my Prozac isn't time-released, so it's okay. She said that because of my sleeve surgery I can't do time-released medication because nothing stays in the stomach long enough to release -
Why is ibuprofen a no no?
GradyCat replied to polly...'s topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I think they said it irritates the stomach lining and/or causes ulcers. I use generic Tylenol/aceteminophen -
I have larger breasts, even at a lower weight, but with age, gravity, and excess weight they are saggy, so I'm thinking about a breast lift when I reach my goal weight.

I'm 3 months post-op and have gurgling sounds that can after I eat and they can get quite loud

When to ask for surgery date
GradyCat replied to Daisy's's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I knew it was time when I had all pre-appointments and surgical clearances faxes to my surgeon's office, then I actually got an email from my insurance company telling me surgery had been approved for such-and-such date. -

I originally posted this in the wrong area... But my question is about crushing pills.
GradyCat replied to NoNonSense89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon didn't tell me to crush them. I've been swallowing them ever since discharge from the hospital with no trouble. -
TEDTALK food addiction.
GradyCat replied to Healthy_life2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This was my first-ever TED Talk. Thanks for sharing. Very informative. -
That's a topic I'm going to explore about a year from now once I've reached goal weight and stabilized.

TERRIFIED of gaining weight
GradyCat replied to FancyChristine15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've never watched those shows about obese people, but I too am scared of regaining weight. I'm only 3 months post-op and have lost 1/2 of the weight toward my goal, but I worry that one little piece of bread at lunch is going to make me gain weight. I'll just keep moving forward. -
I've been curious about cool-sculpting as an alternative to plastic surgery

Sugar-free popsicles are a lifesaver! I don't know Optifast because I've only ever used GNC Lean Shake pre-mades. Good luck finding additives to make them more palatable.
-
Congrats! Way to go! I want to be you when I grow up! I'm just 3 months post-op and have another 60 pounds to lose.
-
Yes, we were told about it in our pre-op class and told to expect it, where to expect it, when to expect it, and that walking was the best thing we could do for it.

How are you getting in your 60 g of protein daily? Any protein shakes or supplements?

Getting cold feet...
GradyCat replied to MichellePDX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, those are perfectly normal and natural feelings and concerns to have pre-surgery. Most of us have had them too. I can tell you that I worried about undergoing a "needless" surgery with possibilities of infection and dying just for weight loss, but then I recognized that weight was related to health and I wanted to be healthy and live longer. The first day after surgery and the nausea makes you question your decision, but each day after that solidifies the good choice of having the surgery. I'm just shy of 50 pounds down now and looking forward to another 50! I couldn't have done that without surgery. -
If you're already approved for the surgery, I wouldn't worry about any additional weight loss, but concentrate on making sure I followed directions for pre-op diet and had my liver the right size to avoid complications.
-
No. my surgeon warned me about having a blowout before the surgery, so I didn't do it. I transitioned for a month before the pre-op diet to eating like I'd be eating post-op to prepare myself. I wanted those memories of chocolates and pizzas long out of my system.

That's great. I'm too lazy so I still use the premade. I use GNC Lean Shakes.

3 small meals and 2 small snacks

Same thing everybody else has said - i.v. fluids from the hospital stay. Your body will figure everything out in a few days and you'll normalize.

Your body may not be ready to tolerate solid foods yet. Go back to soft foods and introduce one food at a time.
