I'm not a doctor and I don't know, but I would think you'll be on antibiotics following root canal and you'll still be recovering from it. Plus they put those tubes in your mouth for anesthesia for WLS. I would try to space them further apart, but your surgeon is the best person to answer this question.

What Questions to Ask Surgeon?
GradyCat replied to AllieCat1993's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I asked my surgeon how many times she'd performed the surgery, how many complications her patients had had, if any, and what the success rate % of patients having the surgery was. -
I hear ya. I've been stalled for a month now and it's driving me crazy! Hang in there and I will too.
-
People who say WLS is the easy way out don't know what the hell they're talking about! Way to go!

Tolerating certain foods one day and then the next, NOPE
GradyCat replied to Ellf's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Meat is a difficult thing. My stomach still won't accept steak or brisket or anything with texture or dense. I still can't do doughy bread either. -
On the positive plus side you've lost 80 pounds. OMG! That's GREAT! Way to go! Try to get back to eating like you did in the first month post-op, 600-800 calories/day, 60 g of protein, 64 oz of water.
-
I've been afraid to try it because I don't know how my stomach would tolerate it. Plus it's just empty calories and I don't need that while I'm trying to lose weight.

I had bad acid reflux around Weeks 3-5, but it went completely away and now I don't have it at all anymore. It can get better.

2 weeks until surgery. A little freaked out
GradyCat replied to DeniseADK's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya. I worried about the same thing. I wanted to make sure I lost enough weight to make it worth it. But I'm happy to say that I had sleeve surgery 5 months ago, had no complications, have lost 35 pounds, and plan on losing another 35 within a year. -
Want to gain some weight back

Make sure that whatever you do, you eat healthy, even if it's more of it. -
First thing you ate when you were cleared for normal food
GradyCat replied to mrblond's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My first real food was some grilled salmon. -
I didn't know there was such a thing. Bread! I'll watch this forum to see if anyone's tried it and how it tasted.

I guess mine's the same as yours. I was a chocoholic. Sweets were my main source of food. But I've been able to avoid them and not crave them now for nearly 5 months post-op.

New to everything!! stall and sick
GradyCat replied to bajankat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's just a natural stall of slow-down point, just keep eating 60 g of protein a day and getting in your 64 oz of fluid and you'll be fine. -
That's great. Glad to hear everything went well. Good luck with your WLS journey.

I eat around 850 calories a day but I've been in a stall for a month. I tried cutting the calories to 600 but still stalled so now I'm upping the calories to 1000 to see if that makes a difference and whether my body is in starvation mode or something. I exercise at the gym 4 days a week and walk 6 days a week.

I use lactose free GNC Lean Shake 25 premade. They come in a variety of flavors.

Oh yeah, I know the boob sweat and crease sweat issues! I'm 5 months post-op and have lost 49 pounds and in hot weather I still get sweaty in those places, but not inside in the a/c or just on a regular basis.
-
It's natural to go through a range of emotions and thoughts. Use the six months to keep thinking about it, but follow through with the plan and requirements and you can always change your mind right before the surgery date. I think it's hard to be 100% sure of anything these days. I started out sure I wanted bypass, then after speaking with my doctors changed my mind to the sleeve and then I had doubts about a week before surgery, afraid of dying on the table all because I was too fat and chose the surgery. But here I am 5 months later and I had no surgery complications, no problems and I'm 49 pounds lighter.
-
Oh no, I hope it clears up, you've got a week. Get well soon!
-
I'm 5 months post-op and eat around 850 calories but I'm in a stall and I tried dropping it to 600/day but no luck so now I'm going to try to increase it to 1000 and see if my body is in starvation mode and try to get out of this stall.

how has surgery impacted your hunger?
GradyCat replied to Zemi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
There's still "head hunger" and a little regular hunger, but it's easier to control. I eat every 3- 4 hours, but in small portions. -
Glad you made it. Take care.
-
I'm going to try this next because I'm still stuck in this stall for six weeks. Willing to try anything to get out of it and get into Onederland.

Questions to ask surgeon
GradyCat replied to annsokos's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your surgeon his/her success rate with the surgery and how many he/she has performed. Your nutritionist will give you sample diet plans. You can pretty much eat anything but carbs or sugar and about 600-800 calories per day. the bariatric plate says to fill a plate with 50% protein, 25% veggies, 25% grains. Eat protein first. If full, stop. If still hungry, eat the veggies. Same thing. Don't eat the grains unless still hungry and eat them last.
