December 2018 Sleevers!
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to batty_vsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I could use a good 12 step program. “Hello my name is Kathleen, and I am a scale-oholic.” It is pathetic. I’m so obsessed. I have been at a “stall” for almost 3 weeks. It’s almost discouraging. I was so excited to hit the -40 at exactly 3 months. My dr said to expect 30-50, so I was happy! Then... Haven’t lost since. And I am just getting over some horrible bug that lasted for over 2days that caused me to not keep anything down or in. And still no weight loss. Of course it’ll come. It’s just so dern frustrating! I’m smiling though. Still excited about -40 cus I’m thinner than I’ve been in over 33 years!!! -
Names for my new sleeve
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to Sheribear68's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine has different names for different times and different audiences. But generally she’s Polly Pouch. My little 2 year old grand daughter calls my stomach “ jiggle tummy”. She loves to push it and watch it jiggle. She then laughs hysterically. She’s so cute. I hate it. But we all laugh. It’s real life. -
Sleeves Any regrets????why and why not????
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to supergirl88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am just over 3 months post surgery. Would I do it again??? YES! YES! YES! I’m 65 years old and have been very overweight for 35+ years. I honestly had zero problems after surgery: no pain, no nausea, nada! I’m losing weight more slowly than some in this forum, but exactly what my surgeon said to expect. I’ve lost 40 lbs, 2 dress sizes, and feel great! My only regret is I wish I wouldn’t have been so scared of the surgery and did it sooner. But I thank God every day for giving me this chance to lose weight, get to feeling better, have less pain and more energy and hopefully live a fuller life with my husband, my kids, and my beautiful grandbabies!!! -
My new favorite go to thread! Thanks!

December 2018 Sleevers!
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to batty_vsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
To Brenttx— man, you are awesome. I’m almost 3 months out. Had surgery 12/26/18, and I’m excited about being down 40 lbs! A BIG WOW to you! (I’m old enuf to be your mom and have been overweight for 35 years, so I’m going a little slower, but exactly where my dr said I’d be! 🎉) -
Today is my one year surgiversary!

I’m EXTREMELY impressed! You go girl!!’ -
To LoveFood. I am with you on the sloooow weight loss, but mine finally kicked in about 7 weeks out. I even made an appointment with my surgeon thinking something HAD to be wrong! I lost lots the first two weeks and then nothing. Even gained 3 lbs. I was depressed and frustrated deluxe. And it really made it worse to read here about someone losing 50 lbs the first month! But, remember this too is a process and there are SO MANY contributing factors to the weight loss. You’ve been given some excellent ideas here to help. But one thing I want to add: follow your drs protocol. One thing I know from reading this forum is that there is a HUGE difference in what drs day to do. Stick with your dr. For example mine believes that drinking protein shakes or protein drinks should be a daily occurrence almost for life. Quick easy way to make sure your protein is up! And there are plenty on the market that are low in calories and low in sugar! Now I absolutely barf up the shakes, but I drink the clear protein water. Sometimes two a day. Just keep on keepin’ on! You’ll be delighted before long. AND remember you are not alone on this journey!
-
My first thought is what did your dr recommend for this stage. If your only supposed to have 1/4 cup, it’s for a reason. It’s generally for your stomach, aka pouch, to heal. I understand being hungry, and I definitely understand not enduring protein shakes, but do your best to adhere to the recommenced program. It’ll be better for you in the long run! Best of luck!

December 2018 Sleevers!
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to batty_vsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Read this every day. You all keep me encouraged. Sometimes I must admit I get overwhelmingly jealous, but that’s ok!!! I’m 6 weeks post surgery and at 2 weeks I had lost 20 lbs, then I added purée/soft foods and immediately gained 4.5 lbs. I have truly had major issues with bladder and kidney problems. Just don’t feel good. Therefore my “exercise” program has mainly been running to the bathroom. Ha! But....FINALLY, this past week the weight gained is gone plus a couple more lbs. yeah I wish I could say, “6 weeks and I’ve lost 35 lbs,” but I’m seriously glad for my 23+!! -
December 2018 Sleevers!
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to batty_vsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Some of you successful people, please take a minute or two and help me out. I need like a “schedule” of eating and DRINKING! Dr said sip on something all day long. Well. I need more specifics. How much and how often so I can get the 64 oz in. I’m staying dehydrated with constant UTI. And my PCP thinks I’m headed to kidney stones. I’ve always just considered myself so dern smart, but I’m lost. Help please. -

I buried my 15 year old grand-son
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One of my dearest friends lost her son involved in this same “game”. Such a tragedy. People need to come out and let others know about this horrible horrible loss, but few are comfortable talking about a suicide - accidental or not. Teenagers don’t always know of the possible consequences. We have to get the word out! -
December 2018 Sleevers!
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to batty_vsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey everybody. I’m in need of some advice or at least some other’s thoughts. Steadily lost 1+ pounds a day. Was so excited at my 2 week check up. At that time, dr added puréed foods. I’ve totally stalled since then. Haven’t dropped a single pound! Suddenly I’m having TROUBLE drinking protein shakes. They just do not want to go down. And I know I need it to have enuf protein. Help?!?!? -
How long did it take you to get your surgeries?
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to WeGettingThere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Aetna insurance which required a 90 day pre surgery wright study. My dr had all the necessary info to demonstrate I was a good candidate, they turned I. The pre approval to my insurance on my 90th day and 7 business days later, I had my approval. Surgery was then scheduled about 10 days later, because of Christmas. I think insurances want you to jump through hoops hoping you’ll forget wanting the surgery!!! -

50 and Up Sleevers
sisternewt@yahoo.com replied to TeeMillz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
To every new sleeved / bari “friend.” Nice to meet you on here. I check in daily! Or should I say nightly. Ha! I go to Dr tomorrow ( Wednesday) for my first post surgery checkup. It will be 2 weeks. I guesstimating I’ll have lost about 13 lbs since surgery. 12 today. Except for zero energy, I’m feeling great. No pain, never any nausea, and so far I’m having no trouble with drinking. Puréed foods suddenly sounds like food for the gods. Yum. Who would have thought. -

I will be 65 yo 01/08. I got “sleeved” 12/26. It’s 8 days out and I’m doing great. Lost 11 lbs. I had a few constipation issues, but that’s resolved. Ready for this great energy everyone talks about. Ready to experience this new lease on life God has given me!
