Dr. George Fielding - Dr. Fielding anyone?
Gloria37 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I'm going to "Learn to Eat with George" on March 15th in New York City, is anyone else going? This is the first time I'm going so I don't know exactly what happens but I'm assuming Dr. Fielding has dinner with those patients that are willing to pay $50.00 a head and teach them how to eat?! So let me know, I'd love to meet those of you that were banded by Dr. Fielding. -
I waited 4 days...I'm a nympho!
-
I was going to eat a hot dog tonight, it's a good thing I found this thread...no more hot dogs for me! I'm so glad everything worked out and you look great.
-
I got my first fill today and I'm so excited. I lost the 4 lbs. I gained last week, phew! C 281 (-29 total and -4 this week)
-
I gained the four pounds that I lost last week, grrr! I also have my period...which has to amount for something (I hope)! :guess Which brings me to another thing, I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18. I rarely got a period once or twice a year. I'm now 32 and I got the last two periods on my own without taking provera. I'm on metformin...2000 mg per day since August that still didn't help. Well the Sunday after I got the lap band I got my period, which may not sound like a big deal to most of you but I was thrilled. 30 days later I got my period AGAIN (with the help of metformin), which I'm so happy about. Like I said, this may mean nothing to most of you but I'm more happy about that then losing the weight! In any case I'm going to try and do better next week. Last week was my birthday and I cheated a little bit (maybe a lot). C 285 (+4) You are all doing great!! :clap2:
-
Thanks Terri, duh! :biggrin1:

I have to ask a dumb question?? What does the "C" stand for? :Banane40:
-
Okay, here it is....281 (-4), for a minute there I thought I wasn't going to lose anything...phew! Everyone is doing great!! :clap2:

Why didn't we know ... before surgery?

You are right, I'm sorry for my posts! -
When it gets warmer out I'll do this, great idea! :biggrin1:
-
When I'm feeling like I want to put food in my mouth which is often since I'm home mostly all week...I'll just stay in my room (which is away from the kitchen) on the computer all day and that usually does it for me.

Ohhh...I'm so jealous! I've been trying to get tickets for the past three years. How did you get the tickets? I DVR Oprah everyday, so I'll look for you. How cool is that! :clap2:

Hi Susan, Yes, we do need to pick her apart...her title to this thread was rude. All people are different and she's expecting people to be like her. I didn't do no research, I knew I wanted WLS and I was going to get it. I asked many questions to my doctor but sometimes you forget. I agree with cashley and most of the newbies I think that the title of this thread was directed at the newer members of this board. I think she's a bully. If she doesn't want to read threads over and over again then why doesn't she skip over them? I also agree with you, we're not here to hurt eachother we're here to help eachother! And this thread was NOT helpful! -
Yeah, I know a lot of doctors post here. Not only is one of the doctors banded one of the best doctors in New York is banded. He's originally from Australia but he's living and practicing in New York now. :clap2:

That is very funny! Well...my doctor did have the lap band, I guess that is very unusual. That's why I picked him!! :biggrin1:

I was over 300 lb. and I've been overweight since I'm 9...so I did NO research. The only research I did was I went to the seminar and I found out that it was safer then the gastric bypass which I already knew. My cousin had the gastric bypass and he lost 150 lbs in a year, which can't be good for you. All I know is that I'm very happy with my band and I've already lost 25 lb. No hard feelings but don't assume that everyone is like you, everyone is different. :biggrin1: -
I wish a knew of a good doctor in NC. What is a RNY?

I don't know, you have to call his office and find out. Speak to Beth Abrams at 212-263-3237 or e-mail her at beth.abrams@med.nyu.edu. I hope you can come! -
Hello everyone, my name is Gloria and I am 31 years old. I have been overweight since I was 9 or 10. Unfortunately, I had a major stroke when I was 30 due to a hole in my heart (PFO), being overweight and I was on the pill...they all had something to do with the stroke. I have no use of my right arm and I have to wear a brace to walk outside. But on the happier side I'm also engaged to the most wonderful guy who I met at work in 2001. He moved in just five months prior to my stoke and he stayed with me even though I'm disabled. I tried to go back to work in August of 2005 and I made it until October 2005 but I couldn't do it. Being overweight, and no functional use of my right arm it wasn't possible. So I'm currently going to occupational therapy and basically staying home. I tried all diets...but in August of 2005 I decided to go to NYU to attend a seminar for the lap band. Once I saw the seminar I decided to go ahead and have it done. I had to go through a whole process...then my insurance gave me a problem. I was scheduled to get the lap band in November and it was delayed until February. So on February 6th 2006, I finally got the surgery. I'm so glad I did it because so far I've lost 25 lbs. as of this morning. I keep going up and down with the same pound! Anyway, I hope to get motivation from all of you and I hope to give you guys motivation! This site has helped me a lot! 310/285 (-25)
