I'm 3 weeks post op and I want to have a beer...now I know your not supposed to have soda because of the carbonation and I haven't but I want to have a beer, is it allowed? And no I'm not a drunk! I went to my doctor on Wednesday but I was too embarrassed to ask him. :scared:
-
I would only assume because it has much more carbonation, it is only a guess! :scared:

Hi Dody, Your right, the foam on the beer is caused by carbonation and what is the differnce between beer and soda? The doctors don't want you to have carbonation because it can stretch your stomach pouch. I'm still not that comfortable with having a beer. How long has it been since you've gotten your surgery? Like I said it's only been 3 weeks and I do not want to stretch my pouch. But I plan on having a beer within the next week. Has anyone tried soda within the first few weeks of getting the band? Hopefully someone will answer that! Good luck! :biggrin1:

Thanks for the information, it helps a lot! I been dying for a beer and now I can finally have one. :clap2:

Yes, but what about those people that are stll on the liquid phase on their diet?

I was wondering if anyone has gotten pregnant after the band? I was diagnosed with PCOS at 18 and I've tried to get pregnant before the band except I was not ovulating...I never got my period on my own which is part of PCOS. I know this is a question for my doctors but I was wondering if anyone has had this experience. If so how long did you wait after getting the band? I appreciate any comments!

Thanks for all your responses...it was great to hear. It gives me some hope. Because ever since I was 18 and I was diagnosed with PCOS I was convinced that I'd never to able to have a baby...which I want so badly. Maysa: Congrats on your baby girl! Jacilyn: I hope everything goes well with your pregnancy, are you going to find out what it is? Skbishop78: That was the most helpful post because she had PCOS, thank you. Is your cousin on the website? Thanks!

Yeah my OBGYN said the same thing. But I just wanted to ask if anyone has had the experience. Good luck on your surgery on Tuesday! :clap2:

Hi name name is Gloria and I was banded 2/6/06, 10 days post-op. I am new to the forum and I'm so glad I found this site. Is there any advise you can give me on what slides down easy. For example I know applesause, scrambled egg, soup and mashed potatoes go down very easy, can anyone give any more ideas? I'm bad at trying to be creative so I need major help. I'd appreciate any responses and like I said before I'm sooo glad I found this site. :biggrin1:

I'm so sorry for your loss. You and your sister and your whole family will be in my thoughts. I know what it's like to loose someone young. What a tragedy!! :cry

Can you get it over the counter or does it have to be prescribed by a doctor? I was suffering from constipation for about a week and a half after my surgery but now I'm going, who knows if it will last. Thank you!

Hello! I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18 and I've tried to get pregnant with no luck. That's part of the reason why I got the band not the only reason but one. I believe that part of PCOS is weight related. I got the lap band on 2/6/06 and I already got a period. Now I don't know if my body is going through changes or it has something to do with the fact that I lost 28 lbs. I never got a period on my own I always had to take medication, so it's too early to tell. I will definitely keep you posted. Good luck to you and I hope the information was helpful.

That's true I didn't even think about that, LOL! :biggrin1: -
I agree with Alexander, I've been on a diet for practially all my life. It's funny that you (unopadre) wrote that because a day before my surgery my brother asked me the same thing. He said "if you lost all that weight pre-op then how come you aren't able to do it for the rest of your life" and I said "what are you kidding me...protein shakes, veggies and broth for the rest of my life" and he still didn't get it. That's all right because when I'm 100 lbs lighter and he's still overweight he'll see. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best of luck!!
