    Just banded!

Hey Louisa, Good to know that everything is going okay for you. It has been pretty much pain free and I AM NOT HUNGRY(YET)!!!! The jello has been the worst for me; I HATE IT. So, instead I do water, tea, gingerale. Can't wait until Sunday when I can have something more substantial than clear liquids. Guess what, I went into to hospital at 225 lbs and came out 232 lbs. Well, keep up the good work, I know you will do well. OH YEAH, how's andrey????????

    Any May Bandsters?

Congratulations everyone on your band. I was just recently banded on May 27th and because of all the wonderful advice that I received on this site, I faired through it pretty well. No gas pain, minimal port/incision pain. On a scale of 0-10, 10 being the most painful, I have been at a 1-2 throughtout these past 3 days. I think walking, gas x, heating pads, liquid diet, positive mindset, and being physically ready(as much as possible) has helped me go through this ordeal with very good results so far. Again, congratulations to all of you and thank you all for your advice and coming back to lapbandtalk to write about your experiences - it's has helped me tremendously.

    Update!!!

Angelsvoice, You are the "BOMB"!!!! You are confirmation for me today that I CAN get through the pre-surg liquid diet that I JUST started today. It is really inspiring for me when I hear success stories such as yours. Stay Blessed and congratulations on your weight loss.

    Is it selfish?

Hi all, I heard about this incident yesterday and I too didn't write anything because I was horrified at the "what if" question. But, I also had a fleeting thought just like Kate Eryn that "Also I really hope I don't sound insensitive here...I'm going to say this because I know some really sick people who would find it funny to put a site like ours in an uproar by "planting" this kind of urban legend to scare, confuse and demoralize people. I sincerely hope this isn't the case. Just crossed my mind, is all." My thought on this whole issue is this.....Because I subscribe to a Higher Authority, I believe that when it is our time to go, it's just our time to go. He has a plan for all of us and that when we have accomplished what we needed to do, we are done. My surgery is on May 27th and because I have faith in Him I approach this date with no fear and am at peace in knowing that my life/outcome is in His hands. I have prayed so many times about this surgery and have asked God that if this is not His will then Lord please tell me so. Until He sends me a sign or make it so that it is impossible for me to have this surgery, I am going forward and will not give it a second thought. My heart goes out to this family in their time of bereavement and I will continue to pray for them and asked God to give them the comfort and answers they need to heal from this. For those who are questioning their decision to have this surgery, please think about what your life will be like if you don't, think about your families' life if they don't have you taking care of yourself. You MUST take care of yourself in order to continue to take care of the people that you love; they need you to be healthy and most importantly happy. So, please let go of all those doubts and feelings that are giving you second thoughts about going forward. Thanks for letting me put my 2 cents in.

    any fellow rochester ny pre-bandies?

Hi, I am also from rochester!! My surgery is scheduled for May 27th with Dr. Dibenedetto at RGH. I have been going through this process for 3 years(research incl.) I initially started with another surgeon but decided not to go through with it due to lack of customer/patient service. My surgeon, in my opinion, is the best!!! Not only is he knowledgeable about lap band, his team is AWESOME!!!!! I've never been worried about the actual surgery, it's what kind of follow up from the surgeon that scared me. But, I believe with dr. d's team, i will be well taken care of. Good luck to you on your Quest.

    Hello from Rochester

Hi Firedust, Dr. D's office is wonderful with calling you back within the same day or if answering your questions right then and there while you are on the phone with them. The customer service at this office is top notch and i wouldn't have gone through this process if it weren't for the ladies in the office. And, Barb you are going to love Dr. D. He's very direct and to the point. Make sure that you comply with everything that he has asked you to do(esp. weight loss requirements). If you don't comply he will not do your surgery. I've actually heard first hand from someone who is seeing him that he sent her away and didn't give her a date because she did not reach his weight requirement.
  11. I was told, "At least you have a wonderful personality". Or, what about when people know that you are coming over to their home and they give you the special/different chair??!!!!

  14. Hi Everyone, I am a new member and I am VERY EXCITED to be here with you all and VERY EXCITED to be scheduled for my lapband on May 27; day after Memorial Day. Doesn't that suck!!?? Anywhobewhattie, I am going on my 5 day liquid pre-op diet starting that thursday before all the way til my surgery that tuesday. OH WELL!!! Are there anymore May 27th 2008 scheduled bandsters out there??? Oh, oh question -How do I create my weight scale thingamajigger? I've been reading a lot of threads for the past few weeks and had to pull myself from this site because some members had me "SCURED" with some of the after effects of the surgery. But, i'm back, still committed and even more so determined. If I don't get this surgery, instead of being called sunshinelady, they are going to call me postallady:cursing:!!!!!! DO YOU ALL HEAR ME??!!!!!!!! Thank you for letting me introduce myself(did I really?) and I hope to get some good old fashioned bandster feed back from you all.
