I was hoping to have the hormone side of the stomach completely removed. I wonder why they're leaving it if it's not being used. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using BariatricPal mobile app

I agree. I've found it used friendly and awesome because it's tailored to bariatric patients. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using BariatricPal mobile app -

Just changed from Sleeve to a Bypass candidate
The 56 Bypass replied to The 56 Bypass's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks, Matt. I've always been leery of the full bypass. I can rememebr the "horror" stories of bypass patients from the 1980s when they first started them. Have they improved the procedure over the years? DO they still leave in the entire stomach, even though its cut away? I am not up to speed on bypass, at all. Then, to further add to the confusion, I've seen "mini" bypass, the "switch" thing and the "RY" thing and I don't know if they are all the same or different. I've got tons of reading to do to get up to speed. -
Why do you thin this is BS? The surgeon is supposed to call me today. I should know more after talking to her.
-
Thanks for answering. I have just heard back from the surgeon's office, after asking what my options are. They are telling me I can have the bypass, not the sleeve. So, I am feeling somewhat better. I guess the bypass somehow reduces the hernia issues. I don't know much about this. I've got my homework cut out for me today getting up to speed. I sure had a good cry after that disappointing news. Hope is now rising again.

I grew up with a mom who was all about the size of one's waist. I ended up with the impression that fat people are worthless, hence, I am worthless because I am morbidly obese. At 56, have been for most of my adult life. Mother is thin as a rail. I raised 6 kids and taught them that s person's worth is not based upon their waistline. I've also raised them to never discuss a person's weight or eating habits, unless invited to do so. I've taught them a person's weight is no one's business and is never to be a topic of discussion. I was very traumatized by my mother's judgemental stance toward the obese, and still battle daily her negative words seared into my brain. My heart breaks for the morbidly obese because I know first hand how they are suffering both physically and mentally. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using BariatricPal mobile app

Just weighed in at 274.5 on my home scale. Yesterday, fully dressed at surgeon's, was 277 and some change. I'll just go with my home scale. Today I start on a calorie restricted diet from now until surgery to shrink the liver. They sent me home with a bunch of protein shake samples to use. My upper GI endoscopy is today, at 1:30, so I'm not actually going to be able to even have a shake or drop of water until after then. Sleep study is tonight. That's a long story! I'm just glad I got it scheduled, or my surgery would have had to be postponed. Surgery scheduled for Dec. 26th.

I can't seem to see the photo your speaking of, although, I have to agree that the yellow feathers, red Gummy glasses and pink bow definitely results in a youthful appearance![emoji12] Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using BariatricPal mobile app
