November 2018 Sleevers!?!?
walk the talk replied to Sealeafi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One of the things that I'm noticing is extremes. The extreme ways have cause us to eat in extreme....gain weight in extreme and now we want to lose weight in extreme. It's not healthy. How much weight did you really think your gonna lose in 11 days. Relax. It will happen. Its not your body that has to change but your mind. And me too. I want it gone too. But I'm not 85 lbs overweight overnight. Remember WLS is a tool not a magic wand Take things slow...what else are you watching besides the scale? How are you treating u? One if the things that I know that I needed was to work in the issues underlying my weight. I decided on that table that I was going to treat me better. Sorry if I'm coming across hard...but we have to understand what we are truly working on and attempting to change. Without acknowledgement there is no change. For any of you who love oatmeal like I do, and also want to get in your protein I think that I may have a recipe for you. Today I am 8 Days post op and I am on a full liquid diet. My nutritionist says that watery oatmeal was okay. So what I have done is the following: I take a premier vanilla Shake with a half of a banana along with a half a cup of quick minute oatmeal. I add nutmeg and vanilla extract, cinnamon. I put it all in a blender and I blend for a good 6 minutes. If I want to have it then I will but I prefer mine to be a little bit warm so I usually put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. It is delicious! It's also a great way in getting in your protein and also getting some energy. I have been doing this for the past 2 days and I have to say that it made me regular and I have some energy now. One of the biggest thing that I am concerned about as I begin this journey is regain. I promised myself while I was laying on that table that I was not going to ever do this to myself again. I promised myself that I was going to work on the things that I needed to work on that I am no longer going to use food as my lover as my companion as my confidant. So to ensure that I continue on this journey I decided that I was going to go public. It is so easy to stay behind the scenes but I know myself. So today I made a YouTube video and now it's kind of crazy and it's not really for other people is just for me to Chronicle my journey and to keep myself accountable. I know this might be viewed as real silly because really it is a personal Journey but I feel that at this moment I don't want to be a secret anymore. Many bad things has happened to me because of Secrets and going public is actually cathartic. I don't know of any other people feel the way that I do but I guess we all have our own way of coping and embracing this new Journey. Mine is still very very new. I just have been on here and I have to tell you that knowing that there's somebody out there and the responses and support that I have received has been amazing. So I'm thankful to this community for making me feel less isolated and feel welcomed. I hope that I can continue to be a blessing to somebody as you guys have been to me Sent from my SM-J737VPP using BariatricPal mobile app

I had the gastric sleeve on 11/28 2018 and I am returning to work on December 12th 2018. Today I'm 6 days post-op and I actually feel really awesome. Today is my best day. For me my only complaint is the gas and that has alleviated a lot since surgery. I don't know about traveling outside of the country and all that stuff but I will tell you as far as my experience is concerned I am recovering really well. The most important thing that you have to worry about is making sure that you stay hydrated getting all of your liquids and is extremely important. I'm 5 days post OP too...its getting better. The heating pad is a dream... Sent from my SM-J737VPP using BariatricPal mobile app -
No it wasnt. You have to remember that your body is really adjusting and recalibrating after a traumatic event. Don't be hard on yourself or be regretful. You have to also remember that you are not taking in a lot of calories and you are exercising on top of that. Your body may be in complete shock. Despite all of this...the scale is moving in the right direction. Now really ask yourself, without this surgery would you have really lost 6 pounds in that short period of time. If your metabolism is anything like mine ..its a whopping hell no! I was sleeved on 11/28/18...and I know there will be some mental play here...so that is why I decided not to weigh myself. I have been the big girl for so long, I don't want to be in bondage by the scale anymore. That is why I will say to you. You had surgery to free yourself. Dont imprison yourself again with the numbers game. Think about it...the scale will change...but your mindset has to change too. Be patient with you and remember you did this to feel better about you. Whatever is going to out that in jeopardy, stay away from it. I hope I'm not preaching...but I want you to know that you're journey is just beginning..and if you work your tool and be patient...your weight loss goal will come to fruition. Hang in there [emoji8] Sent from my SM-J737VPP using BariatricPal mobile app

walk the talk replied to Green1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey I'm so sorry you are having these symptoms of pain. I dont know howmlong ago your surgery was done but you may be having some gas pains. Could that be it? I have heard other stories that talked about back pain being triggered by gas. Nonetheless definitely discuss further with your surgeon. Sent from my SM-J737VPP using BariatricPal mobile app -
