  1. i was banded yesterday morning.....here's what i've had so far...am i getting enough??? 9/14 @ 3pm 2oz nonfat yogurt, 3oz chicken broth @ 7pm 4oz nonfat yogurt, 2oz chicken broth 9/15 @12:35Am 2oz nonfat yogurt @ 7:45Am 2.5 oz hot tea @ 8:25Am 1 tablespoon applesauce w/morning meds AND 1.5oz Protein shake @10:40Am 2oz nonfat yogurt @12Pm 3oz chicken broth @2:40pm 2oz small curd Lowfat Cottage cheese and of course, i sip on Water throughout the days as much as possible. so, by being 2 days post op, and my above food log...does it look like i'm getting enough? i know i think i need more protein....so for dinner tonight i'll try to get in a few more ounces of the protein. but from the above, what do ya'll think? AND WHEN WILL THE SORENESS AND THE DISCOMFORT GO AWAY?!!! i just want to feel back to normal again in my mid-section/tummy area!
  2. my lapband surgery is THIS Friday, Sept 14th. I went yesterday (Tuesday) and bought tons of flavored bottled Water, Gas X strips, Benefiber chewable tablets, advil, and anything else i could think of that i might need. Like applesauce and sugar free Jello. the thing i'm most concerned about at this point is the liquid Vitamins that I was told I would need to start taking daily w/the lapband. i had a hard time finding it at the pharmacy. I ended up buying Viativ Chewable Multi-Vitamins. Well, i thought i'd try one tonight to see how they were and the one i ate practically melted in my mouth, so it seems like it would be considered a liquid. WHAT FORM/BRAND OF MULTI-VITAMINS DO YA'LL SUGGEST? AND....IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD BUY IN PREPARATION FOR MY SURGERY SO I CAN COME HOME AND HAVE EVERYTHING I NEED ALREADY HERE. TRYING TO GET EVERYTHING TOGETHER FOR LESS STRESS AND WORRY THE DAYS AFTER SURGERY SO I CAN JUST RECOUPERATE AND GET TO KNOW MY BAND. thanks! xoxo, Hazeleyegrl1
  3. my hubby continuely has ASKED me if i mind if he eats something in front of me...lol. truth is, i still know that he has to eat and it really doesn't bother me. i'm only 2 days post op....but feel full so very easily that seeing others eating "normal" foods really doesn't appeal to me at all. now how long before this discomfort and tightness goes away? how long until my mid-section just feels normal w/no aches and pains?? someone please help!
  4. i'm being banded in the morning! YAY!!! dr. spivak told me that i could expect 50-60 lbs weight loss...BUT that depending on diet and exercise and each individual person it could be more. the 50-60lbs is the AVERAGE weight loss for someone w/MY bmi getting the lapband. i've never been "Average" in my life and don't plan on being average w/this either! ((trying to stay positive)). but, i also feel like, 50-60 lbs lighter is still better then where i'm at. and if i could've lost that much on my own, i would've done it YEARS ago!
  5. 38 pounds in just 8 days??? that seems to be dangerously too fast...or is that much of a weightloss that quickly typical???
  6. i've been reading so many useful, helpful posts on this site. but, so many doctors opinions vary. so, i'm just curious what everyones food STAGES where and what they consisted of. my surgery is in 2 days! i'm reading over my post-op STAGES and here is what i have. STAGE 1: liquids (first 24-48hrs after surgery) STAGE 2: SOFT FOODS (next 4 weeks of healing time) STAGE 3: SOLID FOODS of course each stage comes w/examples and suggestions. PLEASE SHARE YOUR STAGES AND THE LENGTH FOR EACH. THANKS!

    dr. recommended STAGES...

tomorrow mornings the big day! went shopping today and got alot of the recommended items like the different protein shakes and bottled water and hot tea, etc. spoke w/dr. spivaks nurse and the post op nurse and everything is final and ready to go. it still seems like its not real! after fighting w/the insurance for 3yrs and now finally going as self pay.....well, it just still seems like its not totally really really gonna happen. i'm excited, nervous, scared, anxious, and oh, did i mention excited!!! =) everyone please pray for me. my biggest concern is the immediate awakening after surgery....just don't wanna wake up wretching and vomiting from the anthesia/pain meds. if i can get past that, i know i'll be fine! thanks everyone for EVERY detail and info supplied...im so greatful!
  8. Dr. Hadar Spivak is doing my LapBand surgery. I'm scheduled for 8am tomorrow morning! So very excited! I'm having it done at the Surgery Center on South Main in Houston. Dr. Spivak performs surgeries @ the surgery center AND at the park plaza hospital, I just chose the surgery center because that is where he goes first on friday morning, and i've waited a very long time for this. i don't want to have to wait around all day if possible. i'm just ready to get it done and get home to recovery land. thanks everyone for all your input! i love this website! everyone is so friendly and helpful! it totally ROCKS!
  9. my lapband surgery is scheduled for the morning of THIS friday, Sept 14th!!! i'm so excited and anxious but now feeling as it comes down to the wire that i'm also getting VERY VERY NERVOUS! i keep thinking that i need to take myself out to dinner tonight (WED) for a sort of a "Last Supper", if you will. But i can't seem to figure out what type of food i might miss the most or what i really really want to eat in case i can't eat it Post Op. I've heard that some things like rice, bread, and Pasta just aren't for everyone and that until i'm banded i won't know what i can and can't do. so, now, i'm stressing a lil over the surgery just in general nervousness like w/any surgery and being under anthesia. but the other part of me doesn't know IF i should treat myself to a "Last Supper" and if so, then WHAT? Lets face it, I don't really have any favorites. My tendency was to not realize I am full until its practically too late. so, tell me....i know the nervousness is normal....but did anyone go and have a LAST MEAL or LAST SUPPER of their favorite dish, and if so...what was it? thanks! xoxo, hazeleyegrl1

    dr. recommended STAGES...

lol...insomnia is something i'm already well adjusted too. but w/the help of my lil friend "Lunesta" i tend to get a lil more sleep every now and again. its just when i don't take it, like tonight, that i'm up doing research and driving myself insane over the smallest of details....either that, or blogging! thanks for all your help. xoxo, me

    dr. recommended STAGES...

thanks soo very much dave! looking at your weight loss ticker it looks like you're doing quite well! i want to have a great outcome w/my lap band experience so i am trying to get as much info as possible. can you tell me how you felt IMMEDIATELY AFTER SURGERY?!!! this is one of my most feared aspects of the whole ordeal! what is the anthesia makes me sick?? can throwing up hurt the lapband? also, in the future, if suffering from illness like the flu...how does vomiting effect the lapband? i'm concerned about vomiting the most...can you tell? just scared that the wretching will effect the band some how especially bc i'm not sure how i'll do under the anthesia....its been so long since i've had surgery of any kind. thanks for all your help! you rock!
  12. i'm now on my 2-day pre-op diet too. but bc i'm now getting so nervous and anxious about my pending surgery, i'm finding that i'm really nit picking every lil thing. i'm thinking this is a GOOD THING! it doesn't seem to be near as hard as i thought it would be. so many helpful people on this site. thanks to all!

    Liquid Vitamins?

i bought VIACTIVE chewables. my lapband surgery is THIS friday, sept 14th so if anyone has tried these vitamins feedback is welcomed. i'm willing to try out other suggested liquid vitamins, just haven't had luck in finding any.
  14. ok, i just checked my packet. their are no specific requirements as far as diet goes for WED before my FRI surgery. now thursday (the day before) is a different subject. i will still call first thing in the morning to the Dr. office BEFORE consuming any food though. MAN!!! i hope that i can still get a LAST MEAL in tomorrow for lunch! if not, i will deal w/it. thanks for your concern and info! xoxo, hazeleyegrl1
  15. holy crap! no. they never mentioned it. and i spoke w/the nurse this morning. i gotta go grab my pre op/post op package and RE-read the info. perhaps you are correct and now that would mean that i am PAST the point of a "last supper". if so, i will deal w/it and get over it. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE QUICK REPLY!!! sounds like i have some investigating and some phone calls to make BEFORE I EAT ANYTHING ELSE! xoxo, hazeleyegrl1
