i am seriously not meaning to be rude, but have you never eaten or cooked veggies before, seriously no disrespect intended.

I've decided to change my life!
bindi2203 replied to cakes8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Diane, I too live in sydney and was banded 5 weeks ago, today. BEST descision i have ever made in my life, and the kindest thing i have ever done for myself, I have lost to date, and this is including the pre op Optifast that i did for 2 weeks, which i only lost 2kg i am now down 11 kgs. I was banded by Dr Cregan, at Nepean Hospital, was in for less than 24 hours, and by day 3 was basically back to where i could drive and go shopping and things like that, Of coarse you do have some fear and anxiety in the lead up to the surgery, but to me it was a very simillar feeling as to child birth, you are apprehensive and concerned, but you know you have to do it, and at the end of the day you will end up with a new and precious life, only this time it will be yours, Your new life, the one that you always wanted it to be. like you I was obsessed about food, it was the last thing i thought of before i went to sleep, and the first thing in the morning, I still like food dont get me wrong, but i am so determined to get this weight off, that now when i think of food, it is more along the lines of has this got all the food groups in it that i need, is there enough Protein, vegetables etc. you will truly be amazed as to how your whole not just out look, but relationship changes with food, in such a short time, good luck with your journey and a little bit of advice i can offer is, dont over analyse it, or sabbotage yourself just remember where you are now! , why you are there,! and where do you want to go? At the end of the day the choice is yours. I know for me, that when it got down to it, i feared being fat for the rest of my life, and living the same life that i had done for the last 15 years, a whole lot more scarry than the surgical procedure to have the band fitted. good luck to you Jo. -

I ate today, B chocolate Protein shake, S 2 strawberrys, and 2 tbs yogurt L Fish Curry D Soy Sausage, salad, and cottage cheese. I know sounds very exciting, but it was satisfying, so i cant complain. -
i joined a health fund, and waited the 12 months untill i ws covered, it ended up costing me around $1,500 out of pocket, and my fills and follow ups are now covered by medicare, once i had the band,. the 12 months went by actually quite quickly. good luck to you all.

why not just replace the meat, with soy, products like tofu, is very good and high in protein, and easily digested, it is much better than meat.

my first experience eating out since being banded
bindi2203 replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and I go to Yum Cha, it is simillar to tapas, but is chinese, and if i go to a normal restaurant, i just order entree size, and box up what ever is left, for later, they do not mind, this, and neither do I. -
kimberly it is actually a little under a cup , it is one of those ramekins, the ones you make creme burlee in, they hold 200ml, or just a little over 3/4 of a cup, i have that 3 times a day, and then for a snack after work, which is when i find i am really starving i have been having a protein soup. i have only been banded just over 1 month, and i find that this is more than enough for me, i make sure that i have protein, with each meal. take care
-
hi i ws banded on 19 august, and i am allowed to eat now a small cup of food, but it takes me 25-30 mins to eat that, i have not experienced the over full feeling as yet, and i hope not too. take care

Do you weigh your food or just measure it?
bindi2203 replied to GinaJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my dietician told me, that no more than 1 cup per meal, i am using a 200ml container, and make sure that i dont eat over that amount of food.this is at the moment satisfying me,i try to make sure that i fit all the food groups into this amount. -
I am so scared of gettig something stuck, or pb. that i practically have an anxiety attack the whole time i am eating something, i chew it up so much that i am practically gagging on it. do not want to join the bansterville club or what ever it is called, good luck to all.

i was also allowed to eat soups and i made all these ones with organic chicken, asparagus, and baby english spinach blah blah blah, but to be honest, after banding, i really had no appetite, i had to have soups for 3 weeks, and in the end i could not stomach the ones i made, and ended up only having protein shakes, see how your feeling, because i really couldnt stomach any thing heavy or rich in flavour. you will surprise yourself, as to how little to no appetite you will have for the first 2-3 weeks. good luck with your journey. but do a google search for what ever types of soups float your boat. take care and good luck. jo.

Cancelled fill appointmets
bindi2203 replied to Jeter2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get another Dr, you are paying for them to provide a service, one that you are clearly not receiving, dont waste any more of your precious time and money on them, they are obviously devoid of any form of common courtesy . they are here to help you with your journey offer support and encouragement, not sabbotage you and drain your motivation and hopes and dreams that you have for youself, and your family. i say GET RID OF HIM, and his fill practioner or what ever she was called. take care, and good luck with your lap band journey. jo. -
For Those Recently Banded How
bindi2203 replied to speck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was sipping 1 cup of protein shake over about a 30 min time frame, i felt like i was just sitting drinking all day, by the time i had my 3 shakes a day plus water, tea, and staminade, i really didint have much time left for any thing else, also i was sippint glasses of mulitvitamins as well. just take your time, and basically have a glass of something in your hand most of the day. take care. ( ps if you are going to the toilet regularly to void, you know you are getting enough fluids.). -
jumped on the scales at work today, down to 61.3kgs (134lbs) have lost in 10 days 1.2kgs (2lbs) will only weight now on fridays, well be seeing my family in 3 weeks, hope to be at least 59.9kgs by then cant wait to be out of the 60,s
-
i am seriously the only real fatty boom stix im my family on both sides, one aunt was overweight in her 40s but lost it, she is in her 60s now and still keeping it off. i cant blame any thing other than my obsessive food addiction, why do things dripping in fat and sugar have to taste so damn good. so so glad i got this band, because now the fear of getting something stuck, far out weighs the few seconds of pleasure i would get from woofing it down. good luck to all.
-
my dietician told me i can have equivalent to 1 cup per meal. as long as it is soft, not hard food, i do not feel hungry, well havent so far, i find lots of salmon and veggies are keeping me satified, then after work i have a protein soup, which are tasty, i still lost 700g (1.5lbs) this week, which it has slowed down a lot, but still a loss is better than a gain, i am due for first fill oct, 2. good luck all,
-
thankyou so much, i really couldnt work it out, i racked my brains and thought poor me. and i have no excuses either. hahah.

when you say you can eat anything you want, what sort of quantities are we talking about here, i am not even 4 weeks out yet, and i hope i dont get my huge ravenous appetite back to early. at this stage i am just to darn scared to eat anything larger than a cup full, i measure all meals out and only conume that, but i find that it take so long to eat it after you have to chew chew chew, that i kind of lose intrest in it, i have to say though that since i have to chew and eat so slowly, it is amazing just what flavours diff foods have, for eg, i am completely off chicken at the moment, i used to woof it down so quickly, i never actually took any time to experience, the mouthfeel, and taste, and once chewed into a discusting grimy paste, i have to say, it is something that i can definately do with out. good luck to all

I was banded on 19th august, and also have not had a fill, due 2nd october. but have loss 9.5kgs, thus far, and feeling very positive about the whole experience.
