  1. I would not worry about it, i was not banded with either of my 2 pregnancys, and for both of them at full term, i weighed considerably less than before i concieved. I did not have much of an apetite, and found i felt full very quickly. The baby is a parasite, as horrible as that sounds, but basically they will take from your body what they need. If you make sure you are eating plenty of fresh fruits, lean meats, dairy, nuts and legumes. there is no reason for concern. Sit back and enjoy the time, it is only such a short period. 9 months will go by in a blink of an eye. good luck with it all.
  2. This has happened to me x2 and the last time it was more than 1 hour, i could not move, the pain was excruciating and i couldnt even swollow my own saliva, nothing would go down water juice, so in the end i had to stick my fingers down my throat. and make myself sick, i know sounds disgusting, but i did not know what other options besides going to emergency, and i thought that may have been a little meladramatic. So now i will never eat lamb again, the fear of that happening to me is enough to never want to try it again. I know we are not suppose to vomit as it can cause slippage, but what other options are there if it is evident that it is not going to go trough the band.and is stuck.

    Friday Morning Weigh-In: January 9, 2009

As you know i have been a bad girl, not posting for at least 6-8 weekks, my weight loss has been so slow that i have not even being tracking it properly, 800g in the last month. So anyway, i got on the scales, and i am at 54.25kg (120lbs). I am definately at a plateau. Any way i will make a commitment to my self to at least post regularly and stay focused, good luck to all.

    Sydney get togethers???

Hi i am in Glenmore park, i would love to meet up for a get together, or a chat and some support.
  5. Oh i have not weighed in for weeks, i am so scared, i have been eating way too much for way too long. have made rare healthy choices the last couple of months, so i guess i will have no one to blame but myself, dragged my poor sorry arse onto the treadmill yesterday and today, am going to make a concious effort to get on it at least 5 days per week, and will throw all the bad junk out of the house.

    Struggling badly...

I too am strugling so badly at the moment, i have not been on lap chat for at least 6-8 weeks, i have totally plataued and am making very bad food choices. My portions are way out of controll and i fear i am slipping back into my pre band ways. I am constantly hungry, and i know it is head hunger. i now have 5 mls in my band. so i should be eating less not more. i lost weight quickly in the first 10 weeks with exercise and portion controll, i am not doing near the amount of exercise that i was doing, and am finding it extremely hard to discipline myself in this area. So i know how hard you are struggling at the moment, i have even gone back to that horrible stage of telling meself every night, that tomorrow i will be good. i am over all this, i need to get on track, and stay focused and be accountable for my choices and actions. take care..... jo.

    Getting obsessed

i was so obsessed with cooking, watching cooking shows. reading cooking books anything to do with food, post op. It does pass. i cant believe that i am cool with not eating the junk i used to.
  12. Well i had a fill this monday, and have dropped another 800g (1.5lbs) in 4 days, so i am feeling happy again. Motivation has jumped up again, thank God. any way am now to 57.6kg (126lbs). Got 3mls in my small Ap 10ml band. good luck to all of the other august bandsters
  13. I will tell you one thing, and that is that i have been so busy with work, running a house and looking after my 2 school aged children that i couldnt care any more about the issue. And i definately couldnt care any LESS.

Anyone get banded at just 35 BMI?

I also have to lose 30kgs i was banded on august 19th, and so it has been not quite 10 weeks, so on my weigh in last friday i was down 14.6kgs. not bad, i am nearly half way there, i will be by this friday for my next weigh in. good luck.

How much so far - total?

    Pre op diet was 72kg (158lbs) surgery 19.8.08 70kg (154lbs) friday 24.10.08 57.4kg (126lbs) Total loss 14.6kg (32 lbs)
  16. I got my first fill yesterday 3cc I also felt quite sick in the stomach for about 1 hour later. I was told to not have any liqued calories but said that i was using a liqued protein shake only on my work days as i leave home at 6am, i can not eat that early and i find that when i get my breakfast break it is often around 10am or sometimes later depending how busy we are on the floor. Nurses often dont get there breaks on time and some times dont even get them. so any way i was finding that i was getting very empty and sometimes quite light headed around 8am and found the optofast stopped this, so appart from that i am to be eat normal foods, and try everything. My Dr feels that you should not feel deprived or that you are on a diet, so being a foody, i totally agree. I have been banded 9 weeks today and have lost 13.6kgs so i am feeling good, and hope that this fill will slow down my appetite again, good luck to all.

Who can still eat whatever they want?

I had my first fill yesterday of 3cc in my small AP 10 band. but i have to say the last week i was eating rather large quantites. I do not know if i can eat bread because i am scared that i will be able to and then cause me to spiral into a 3 day bender on it. i prefer to fear the feeling of something being stuck, than to get the courage to try things like that. i have also stayed away from rice, Pasta and potato chips for that same reason, and if i ever do weaken and try them, i hope that they get so stuck that it scares me off for life. good luck I was banded in late August by the way.

    Nervous Newbie!!

I have been done 9 weeks today. like you i waited for a long time to be banded. when the date was set, i also questioned myself. But i stayed strong and did not deviate from my goal. It is by far the best thing i have ever done for myself and i have not regretted it for 1 min and i Thank God every day for keeping me strong enough to go through with it. At the end of the day it was for me a very minor operation I had no complications and have not looked back i have lost nearly 2.5 stone and know with out this band, i would never stuck to a diet long enough to see the results i am seeing now, and i am only a few weeks into it. I can for the first time in my life, see a light at the end of the tunnel. At the end of the day it is your descision to have the surgery or not, but I knew i could not live another day of my life feeling as bad as i did about myself at that time, I loathed my appearance and felt as i had betrayed myself to even allow Me to become what i had. I really wish you luck on your journey and do not let ill informed ppl wilth basic to no knowledge of the band and its functions let you deviate from your final goal that you have set yourself. stay strong and belive me it is really an empowering feeling to get back some of your selfworth and belief in yourself by firstly setting the goal, but then to follow through and come out that other end, knowing that you have done the right thing. good luck.

    Facial Complexion

Yes i also have had the same problems, i have been using moisturiser like it is going out of style. make up looks horrendous. i will start taking a omega oil supplement see if that helps me. thanks
  20. girls when you are looking at these surgeries dont go shopping like you are clothes shopping getting bargains 3 and 4 in 1, look at the surgeons credentials and your risk factors. you dont want to have these big gapping infected wounds with necrotic tissue and months of recovery, just for the sake of saving a few pennies, obese ppl already increase there risk of complication, because of all the adipose tissue, and poor circuation to the areas involved, really look into it. because at the end of the day, your health is the main priority.

Help me make the right decision

I think you need to research a little more, to find out what proccedure does what, you seem a little confused about the diff types of weight loss surgeries. Only you can make the final decision, it is your body all as i can say, that i have not regretted for one minute my band, it is now my best friend forever.

    Crikey!!

if all else fails, stick a spoon in the jar, lasts for ever, and helps me get over a salty craving, where before i would fill with a packet of smiths crisps. my 7 year old daughter taught me this little trick, she does it with peanut butter as well.

    I am nervous!

i would follow exactly what your dr told you to do. you have only done a week or so, i had to follow fluids for 3 weeks. the problem is that if you dont allow your sutures to anchor in properly, and form the correct amount of scar tissue, you could have a much more increased risk of slippage, and other complications down the track, you dont want the firt time you do a PB, you end up with a slip do you.

Friday Weigh In Oct. 17, 2008

I have not had any access to the scales at work this week, as i have not been in at all this week. But that may not nesesarily be a bad thing. I have a fill booked for monday, it will be my first, i have been eating every thing and any thing, this week has been dreadful. I have been grazing constantly and never feel satisfied. I will weigh in at the Drs on monday to be honest im SCARED of what the scales will reveal. Good luck to all the other august bandsters out there. cheers.
