  1. Oh no!! That's a bummer (no pun intended)! I do enjoy beef. I think gas masks may be worth it.
  2. Yes, the board is being freakin' weird. Dee- thanks for putting up your ticker again! Look how close you are to 100 lbs! Fantabulous you! I drank a whole protein shake this morning, "watered" down with skim milk. I feel like I ate a watermelon, but I know I need to get some nutrition into my body. My goal is to get down three a day for now. I'm sure I'm going to feel hungry eventually, but for right now the idea of food is just awful. Wow, and is that ever a weird state for me!!!
  3. good luck on your fill today! Let us know how it goes.
  4. Lap - fantastic!!! and congrats again on impending grandbaby. Just got new pics of mine this morning, they are the best! wow, I feel so much better this morning. No headache, no nausea, a tiny bit sore and that's it. I'm going in to work this morning for an hour or so. I even weighed this morning (couldn't resist) and have lost the 1.5 lbs gained during surgery plus 2 more. Woohoo! That's what I was hoping to see!!! Hey newbies - even though the first few days ended up being crappy for me, this whole adventure will be well worth it. Everyone is going to do great, including me!! The oatmeal/no red challenge sounds like a great idea to get those numbers in line. Wow, Shelbi, you are so close! And miss dee, I'm sure it will be really helpful for both your numbers and your weight loss. I think Dr. Oz calls steel cut oats a "miracle food", yes?
  5. Mmmmm, I LOVE steel cut oats. I used to make them plain, then stir in a little splenda brown sugar blend and then top it with fruit of some sort. My favorite breakfast ever.
  6. Deb - I think you'll need to have some anti-nausea meds of some sort. And most people don't seem to have a problem with it. I should have told Dr. k. that I was getting a bad headache . . . maybe he would have switched me to something else. My bad. Sorry about your Dad. Yes, he definitely needs to stick around and see the true you come to the forefront.
  7. Good morning lap band ladies! I awoke this morning and the wretched headache is 95% gone!!! Yay!!! I'm even going to try to get some fluids today from something other than popsicles. dee - you had me all confused there for a minute with your name change. I was like, uhhhhh . . . who's that? LA - it's really hard to concentrate on things like weight loss when you're in pain. You just need to concentrate on feeling better. The rest will work itself out. I know I'm missing lots of people but every time DH sees that I'm on the computer he says "wow, that must really help your headache" so I'm doing this on the sly while he's at the store. sneaky sneaky Thanks for all your support guys. Rough couple of days, but things are looking much better now.
  8. munchkin - that's fab about your nursing supervisor! How cool! dee - I'm so glad that some of that Water is coming off your ankles. That can't feel good at all. And I think your goal is wonderful .. . and doable!
  9. PS- I've gained 1.5 lbs since surgery. I seem to recall some others of you having the same problem . . .
  10. Yep, Hannah's about as cute as they come. What a dolly baby. Oh ironies of ironies . . . I just looked up the anti-nausea med I was taking and the most common side effect reported is HEADACHE!! I took my last one today at 4, so I'll be curious to see if the headache goes away tomorrow. I sure hope so. Yes, dee looks fantabulous on the preop dinner pics, yes? Well, so do Mal and Brandy, but you can sure see a difference in dee!!!
  11. Deb, I don't know what happened but I don't think it was a usual thing. In fact, I think I would have been fine if I had flown back the day before, cuz I felt just fine then. I almost feel like maybe I picked up a virus or something. Who knows? But don't let it worry you unduly. I really think it was a fluke.
  12. I have some of the under the tongue pills but started retching after I put it under my tongue. I've taken two of them today though so that's better.
  13. Hi ladies. I drank one of the bullets the day before and it was fine, so I don't really think that was it. I think it was the headache that caused the nausea. I'm just not sure why I had the headache. It's still loitering, but getting better over time. I just had a second popsicle, so that was good. I think tomorrow I might try some isopure or something.
  14. Munchkin, I accidently PMed some other munchkin! Sorry, I sent it to you again.
  15. Hi everybody. I'm not quite caught up on reading due to the weird things on the board. I'm home now . . . but it wasn't a good trip. I woke up yesterday with a bit of a headache that just kept getting worse. When we were at the Denver airport I tried drinking a little bit of the Protein bullet with some juice and it made me feel a little nauseated, so I only had a few sips. We got on the plane and the flight was really bumpy the entire way and my headache just got worse and worse. When we started our descent into SLC, I started retching. Didn't vomit anything up (cuz nothing in my tummy) but some pretty bad dry heaves. This continued when we got home and I called Dr. K and he said it should be fine cuz the sutures are very strong right at the beginning. I tried to take another anti-nausea pill but it came right back up too. So, long story short, I ended up in the ER for most of the night getting IV fluids and meds. I'm home now and the headache is almost gone. I've kept down two cups of Water and a popsicle today, so that's good. I don't know what the heck happened. I really don't think it had anything to do with being banded, but it was just a bad thing to have happen right after being banded. Crud.
  16. Ahhh . . . you're so sweet. I'm not sure the fam would understand if I left home and moved ot Denver. Damn it! Our flight is at 2:30 so we'll be home pretty early. Can't wait to see my pets. Oh, and my kids. Thanks for all your help, miss dee. You've been awesome.
  17. Good morning peeps. My gas pain is almost gone. YAY! I feel pretty good today and am sooooo glad tht I decided not to go home yesterday. I think that extra day really helped. I'm gonna try a few sips of nonclear liquids today and see how I do. So far no problem keeping my clear liquids down, so I hope that's a good sign. Must not vomit , must not must not. Munchkin, I sent you a PM . . .
  18. You'll love it here. It's the best place ever!
  19. You'll love Dr. K. He's great. And the nurses at the hospital said he's the best. He's very particular in how he wants things done and I find that to be a very comforting feature in a surgeon  Good luck on your preop diet. It was really easy. Oh, go to GNC and buy a bottle of Isopure. Some people don't like it but I bought the mango/peach and it's really good with lots of Protein.
  20. Hello! up and about once again. I"ve been taking walks up and down the hallway of the hotel but still have wicked gas pains. Did anyone else have gas under their ribs? Mine hurt! And my upper abdomen is really swollen. BUT, my throat doesn't hurt at all. So that was good. Did anyone else have a hernia repair during their surgery? Patty, that was lovely. Thanks for sharing. Munchkin, good to hear from you again! You naughty nurse. Anita - did you get your drink? Have one for me while you're at it. Tatoos - I have one. In my grad program it was a tradition to get one after your defense to remind yourself to be a real person, not a Dr. snob. I have a green vine that starts sort of to the side of one of the girls then down along my side. I can see it in the mirror, but no one else can see it unless I show it to them. I love it. It's my goofy little secret. Granny with a tatoo! Whoo hoo!!
  21. Hi Lifesaver! Sorry, I was in such a daze yesterday that I forgot to reply. I am in the Holiday Inn Select by Parker Hospital. Room 327. I would love to meet you if it's not too far out of your way.
  22. Good morning! Drive by post (hubby and I are sharing a computer, and he has to do that "work" stuff). Doing well, a little annoyed by gas pains in the night and my port incision is sore. Deb, what time did Dr. K call you? He came in to see me at 4:30 or so . . . I was wondering if I kept you waiting!
  23. Woohoo!!! Banding has occurred. I am back in my hotel room. Things went well - a few small problems (hernia, etc) but he got me all fixed up! Not feeling much pain right now, just a little gas. Gonna lounge around and watch the tube. I'll probably not post more tonight, but definitely tomorrow.
  24. Oh, deboregon, good luck on your phone consult today. Hopefully Dr. K. will be in a fab mood cuz my surgery will have been amazingly smooth and successful. Lotsa - your turn is coming soon! Pre-op diet is just a few days away . . .and then the time will fly by.
  25. Good morning lap band ladies!!! I am hangin' in my hotel, waiting to go over to the hospital at 11:30. Thanks so much to everyone for all the warm wishes. I can't believe that today is the day!! Woohoo!!! Dinner last night was a blast. It was so great to get meet some of my cyberbuddies in person. We just talked and talked and talked (big surprise there!). What a bunch of warm and lovely women. And even better looking in person than in their pics! FW-I am so sorry about your friend's son. My son has battled drug and alcohol problems as well and the scenario you describe has long been one of my worst fears. The pain involved in losing a child is so unimaginable that I really don't know how people survive it. Your poor daughter must be devastated. Lap- sorry your consult was pushed back. But it won't be long. How great to be at the PS point. Bahot - HELLO!!!! Size 10. OMG! I can't imagine. I CAN imagine! I want to imagine!. Yes, you and Brandy must take your hot size 10 selves out shopping together. Or you can take one pair of my shorts and split them in half. Well, I'll post later this afternoon when banding has occured. Scoot over ladies - my fat ass is comin' to the bench! Shelbi- no pinching but I'm okay with the occasional tickle . . .
