Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
minidriver replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I started at three weeks out. I just started with some of the stuff I had previously been "mushing" (canned chicken, fish, etc) and ate really slow. I don't think it will cause damage. My understanding from Dr. K. is that you don't want to throw up - that's what causes the problems. So take everything really slow and make sure you can tolerate it. But that's just me. Anyone else want to give some advice here? Frankly, I found the written instructions a bit vague with regard to WHEN you should start mushies, solids, etc. -

Bella, I got 2.15 cc. Not very much, but so far so good. I also gained a pound right around 3 weeks, and then was stuck for a good week or so. Don't get discouraged. I think it's pretty normal. -

Yup, I'm digging it. I can relate about the height thing . . . I'm 5 3 and a half, but I always call myself 5 4 for good measure. -

Okay, this fill business is pretty cool. For lunch I ate about a third of a cup of very mushy chicken salad that I made. That was about 1 o' clock and I just now started getting hungry again. I feel like I did the first few weeks after surgery where eating was not really on my mind much. Hope it lasts for a bit!!! YAY!!! -
what have you been told to do after a Fill
minidriver replied to tp78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill yesterday and the doc didn't have me do anything different. I can tell today that I have some restriction though, so I ate "semi-mushies" for lunch and feel nice and full! -

I assume this is due to having had a fill yesterday, and indicates that I have restriction. I am sipping a protein shake and, since it is very cold, I can feel it going down. It is sort of sitting above my band at the moment. How strange! Not sure what it will feel like when I try to eat something solid for lunch. -

Hi Anita. Have you tried attaching them directly to your post as thumbnails? That works for me without having to resize them at all. Wow, I can't believe you're starting back to work NEXT WEEK!!! I don't have to start back until the 27th. That's great that you will be closer to your house. Makes a world of difference. -

I would take the super shuttle. You really don't want to drive that soon after surgery. -

I had my consult and surgery all within 5 weeks, so it went really fast. For the vast majority, it is an outpatient surgery. I would take a week off if you can, but many go back to work after a few days. Nope, no regrets. -

Hello lap band buddies. I am currently sitting in the hospital cafeteria after receiving my first fill. Wow, what an odd procedure. Just hangin' out, drinking water with a needle sticking out of your tummy. So I ended up with 2.15 cc. We went for a little more, but I could feel the water backing up a bit and I really don't want to be too tight since I live so far away. Who knows. Maybe I should have gone tighter, but that's okay. Now I just have to kill a 1/2 hour until I head back to the airport, where I'll kill another few hours. Di da di. Kinda' boring day. Marie - any word from the school district yet?? -

They'll call you . . . but if they're more than 30 or 40 minutes late, then call and speak for Natalie. They forgot to call me on my originally scheduled day! -

Thanks for the info, Dork and Vail. I would be really happy with 8 lbs a month. I'll just see how things go. Vail, thanks for the suggestion about the cold water. Dork, so sorry to hear about your gb. That sucks. Lotza, arg! I'll bet you've been on pins and needles! -

Yeah, that seems like an appropriate amount, although I've been in the higher range the past week or so. I had eaten about 900 yesterday and realized as I was getting ready for bed that I was STARVING so I at a piece of string cheese. Hopefully a fill will help.
