  1. That would be Tom, not to be confused with TOM.
  2. Since tomorrow will be our first weigh-in, I just wanted to make sure I have everybody. If I'm missing you, please let me know. 3. Oh NO!!! Well, maybe it's a delayed effect. Do post new pics of your tat. I'd love to see it.
  4. Well, you know me all too well. Pretty good litmus test indeed. I let her download mine. I wanted to make sure she didn't miss the white album, etc. I was going to say about "blackbird" . . . it came on the ipod the other day and I said to DH that if I were ever to learn to play the guitar, that would be the first song I would learn to play. I love it love it love it. What a beautiful song for your friend's memorial service.
  5. Oh, that's awesome. The Beatles litmus test. How funny that you like the drugged out days. hee hee One of my students asked me a few months ago if I knew much about the Beatles. I was like, "um, yeah". She asked if I had any of their music on my itunes that she could download. I just cracked up. She had apparently just discovered them.
  6. When we were in NYC a few years ago we walked through the park to The Dakota and then to Strawberry Fields in the park. It was pretty awesome. I love that there is a band like the Beatles who are able to appeal to so many people across so many generations. I never get tired of them.
  7. Oh, that was so horrible when John Lennon was shot. My first husband and I had gone out to dinner in a futile attempt to try to get along. After dinner we got in the car and we heard about it on the radio. It was so shocking that we just kind of gave up trying to pretend like we were enjoying ourselves. My poor son (who has schizophrenia) thinks that John Lennon sends him messages. At least they are good messages.
  8. Oh, that's so strange. I found myself explaining to my class the other day what "pagers" are. Seriously.
  9. Me too. (well, I was in my thirties, so I should remember!) And they don't really know anything about it. Or the OJ Simpson trial. Or the challenger explosion. OMG. I'm just old.
  10. Guys, here is a really weird thing. My freshmen students were only 11-12 years old on 9/11. While I try not to dwell on it unduly on the anniversary, I always feel compelled to mention it, and then I'm just shocked when I realize how young they were and how confusing and awful it must have been for them. At least as adults we were able to sort through the information we were hearing, use coping skills to deal with the stress (I watched the news incessantly for days . . . I tend to seek information when I'm afraid), discuss it with others, etc. I think many parents tried to shelter their children (understandably) but now they have incomplete/incorrect info and just these shocking, scary memories of a horrible thing happening that they really didn't understand, etc. It's just weird to think that something that was such a defining moment for the country probably won't be remembered by the students I'll have coming up in the next decade.
  11. Oh no!!! That sounds awful. Crud. Maybe new batteries will help. Mine seems to be pretty consistent. Slow, slow, slow. Consistently slow. Sigh. I always chug my water. I'm just not a sipper. I force myself to wait 30 minutes after a meal and then I drink 20 oz in about 5 minutes!
  12. dee, I wish I had your motivation. I have such a tough time getting my ass off the couch and moving.
  13. Wow, your parents are being pretty harsh. Damn. I wouldn't be happy if one of my kids were going to Iraq either, but I certainly wouldn't want to quit communicating with them, etc. In fact, I'd probably want to hear from them more often than ever! Your poor sister must be really upset. Sorry Munchkin. I'd have a big martini if I were you.
  14. Welcome! You were banded the day after me!!
  15. Let me know how it goes. If they do well without using fluoro, maybe I'll check them out.
  16. That would be sooooo fabulous. Oh my. Good to here from you Mal. Amazing how much time we can spend here, yes? But it's really fun.
  17. For sure call Dr. K. I doubt it's a slippage but you should tell him anyway. Sorry you're having troubles again . . .
  18. ahhh, that's so cute. I love doggies in cars.
  19. Are you kidding? An alcohol shot? Wow, totally keep us up to date on this. I have it in both feet and I would be soooo happy if something like that would work. BTW, I CERTAINLY hope that you're not implying that I am somewhat off kilter. I view myself as a staid and serious academic professional who always behaves with great decorum. I'm sure you must have been referring to OTHER members of the group.
  20. Brandy - thinking of you. Check in when you can. Wish I could come to dinner on the 23rd. Somehow I'm not sure I can justify the plane fare, but it would be fun. Denver, glad your check up went well.
  21. Hi Jaime. I didn't have any problem getting through the airport. Just take it slow. Good choice on the first class flights!
  22. Damn, guess I'll have to buy myself a pair. Well, guess I'll go to bed now. Night night lap band ladies.
  23.:laugh: Funny about the neighbor. What I hate is when they have to get up under your armpit. That always hurts the most for me. A wretched procedure, I must say. I'm part of a clinical study where they use a computer to scan all of the films after the radiologist looks at it. I've had to go back for follow up studies every freakin' year. But, better safe than sorry. Hey, can I borrow a couple of your boobs? Hopefully some perky ones?
  24. Oh crud. Sorry. I wasn't trying to be mean. I understand the anxiety provoking thing . . . I've had to have them since I was thirty due to family history, and every year I hold my breath . . .darn those girls. One of my motivations for getting this weight off once and for all. The link between weight and breast cancer scares me.
